Avatar m tn However, for severe nodular or cystic acne, then you may need oral antibiotics for this. As for natural ways to treat acne, I can not give a run down of any natural way that may be deemed effective. Several factors affect acne including genetic factors. Stress and certain food intake also contribute. Avoid eating spicy food and try to use a milder and hypoallergenic cream or body wash. These will be able to help. Acne may sometimes have a dermatitic component.
Avatar n tn I was on Doxy 100mg for about a month for antimalarial reasons, saw a slight improvement in my skin, and was then prescribed Doxy 50mg for acne indefinitely. I’ve been on this for about 3 weeks. I have definitely noticed fewer pimples, but I still have the odd one here and there. I’ve also been using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I think has worked wonders. I would like to go off Doxy 50mg to see if it is the Doxy or the Benzoyl which has helped my skin.
Avatar f tn ) and noticed that a few minutes into the tan, the itching eased up considerably and amost went away entirely for a few hours afterwards. I plan on going back to the tanner in a few days to see if I get the same results - and I'm wondering if the UV rays from the tanning bed will eventually clear this rash up. Any ideas or suggestions?
Avatar n tn I have had mild acne for about 3 months. It is very irritating and i would like to get rid of it. Should i consult my Dermotologist? Or is there any cures i can go about at home, such as dieting, wear loose clothing, or just have a friend of mine pop them all then apply ointment? Please help, this is a big confidence problem.
Avatar f tn I recently read about a genetic test called AcneDX that tests whether or not oral antibiotics will be an effective acne treatment. My teenaged daughter has moderate acne and tetracycline has been suggested. I'm concerned about giving her a medication that may have side effects and produce an antibiotic resistance later in her life, and it may not even work to clear her acne up. The test sounds like a great way to find out prior to treatment if the antibiotics will help.
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be acne keloidalis nuchae. It occurs when hairs on the back of the head and neck grow into the skin, become inflamed, and cause scar tissue. These ingrown hairs usually occur following a short haircut on the back of the head and nape of the neck. Treatment of AKN includes suppression of the inflammation with antibiotics and steroid gels or intralesional steroid injections. So apply antibiotic cream like Neosporin or bactroban.
Avatar n tn I don't have a history of acne, but recently I 've been breaking out around my hairline, across my forehead, nose and cheeks. The acne is red and very small bumps, as if it was irritaton. I thought it might be an allergic raction to a hair product or new facial cleanser but stopping use of these new things hasn't stopped the situation. I've recently started back at the gym and running and sweating a lot and a co-worker of mine said that this is probably the cause.
Avatar n tn I get it on my chest, back and face I have went to a derm since I was 18 but it never seemed to really help and I felt like since my acne was mild they never really cared. Avatar f tn So he prescribed me to an oral antibiotic for a month. It was a miracle. Everything was gone. That was until I ran out of antibiotics. It came back just as quickly as it went away. So he prescribes me again another antibiotic. Same result. I stopped going as I knew he would just try and fix the symptoms not the cause. Since then I've been to three different dermatologist and they all have done the same thing.

Avatar n tn t say what you have already tried but the standard treatment for body acne is a course of oral antibiotics like Oxytetracycline 250mg twice daily and a topical retinoid gel such as Retin-a. It would be unusual to get acne on your arms, this is more likely to be keratosis pilaris rubra. However, Retin-a is also effective for this condition.
Avatar n tn An acne cyst can appear similar to a nodule, but is pus-filled, and has been described as having a diameter of 5mm or more across. They can be painful. Again, scarring is common with cystic acne. Squeezing an acne cyst may cause a deeper infection and more painful inflammation which will last much longer than if you had left it alone. Dermatologists often have ways of lessening swelling and preventing scarring.

Avatar m tn Hi there, Any acne medication takes time to act and it is important to stick to particular regime for significant improvement. You should wash your face with a nonirritating, pH-balanced cleanser to decrease inflammation. Avoid scrubbing the face. Do not pop or pick at pimples. A correct nutritional balance and skin care will be helpful. Drink plenty of water every day. Take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Have a balanced diet rich in vitamin A, zinc and rich in multivitamins.
Avatar n tn I have had continuing problems with acne and cysts on my buttocks area for approximately 15 years. I have seen multiple physicians regarding the condition, however, all have either treated me only with antibiotics or considered it an allergic reaction of some sort, regardless, none of the treatments have worked. Recently I went to a new dermatologist who diagnosed me with Acne Inversa, however, he stated it was curable and prescribed me Accutane.
Avatar m tn He said it was probably just caused by the combination of having severe acne and sinus infection. He scheduled a blood test for me that he said tested for CBC (Complete Blood Count), Liver function and Kidney function because he wanted me to go on acne medication that required these tests (Isotretinoin). He also gave me some antibiotics to clear up sinus.
