antibiotics

Avatar f tn Has anyone had a sinus infection while pregnant? If so, were you able to take anything? Im 11 weeks pregnant and beginning to feel miserable.
Avatar f tn ve experienced resolution from a sinus infection without even using antibiotics with diligent saline washes. I got rid of all that ugly green stuff with the saline washes and got rid of the sinus infection before it got out of control--all without even having to see the doctor or using antibiotics. My conservative, but early, treatment saved me from having to take antibiotics. My doctor only knew about the sinus infection after it was gone.
Avatar f tn Pretty sure I am getting a terrible sinus Infection and was wondering if I can take anything over the counter or if I need to see a doctor.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
11970398 tn?1443134602 I went to the doc today for a sinus infection, bronchitis and ear infection :/ they gave me antibiotics for the infections and mucinex for the bronchitis. How far are you? They said because I was in third trimester that it was safer to take antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Have any of u had a sinus infection during pregnancy? What over the counter meds did the doc tell u that was safe?
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with what I thought was a sinus infection for the past week. Today was the first day I had relief from unrelenting facial pain without the need of painkillers. I was blowing out of lot of bloody mucus throughout the week, and today I blew out something from my nose that had the same feel of latex skin (link to a picture of it is provided below).
Avatar m tn The cyst could be from the chronically inflamed sinuses. For a chronic sinus infection, 4-6 weeks of antibiotics are pretty standard in addition to nasal steroid sprays, oral steroids, and salt water irrigations of the sinuses. However, if you do have an infected tooth, you will still need to have this addressed as dental infections can be potentially life-threatening. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My husband was on antibiotics for a sinus infection for over 6 months at one point until it all finally broke up. He about ripped up his nasal passages passing out old, hard junk that was like a pencil eraser. It's all too easy to blow off a sinus infection as no big deal and try to treat it with over-the-counter meds. Those meds can work but only if it's allergies and not a true infection causing the trouble. If it's an infection, you need antibiotics. Period.
Avatar f tn So I went to the docs and I have a sinus infection. I feel like crap!!

894112 tn?1241554104 Every thing seemed to be going ok till about a month ago. I have had a sinus infection for about a month now. I have been on four different kinds of antibiotics and I am on allergy meds and none of them have worked. They did do a ct scan and it shows that all my sinus cavities are full. Does any one know what might be going on?
Avatar f tn Yup all 3 of my pregnancies I've had to take antibiotics at some point or another. Right now I'm on some for a uti I've also been on them for a sinus infection and a kidney infection during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn If you are under 55, and in good shape, and not afraid of bending over in a shower, then I recommend the sinus flush that I have invented. It will wash out the bacterial infection in about a week of treatments. It follows recent discoveries by the Mayo Clinic, and has been successful against a 5 year long infection, and 10 subsequent acute infections for me. Cursor the blue "friggy" for instructions in my journal, and an explanation why it works so effectively.
Avatar f tn This is my second sinus infection this winter. Coughing non stop and sneezing. Worried my baby is gonna be stressed or something from it all? Can my baby be harmed in anyway? Can't take anything.
Avatar n tn If its a true infection your doc can give you antibiotics in the amoxicillian family. They are safe to take. If just home remedies, a humidifier, sudafed (the original), saline to wash out your nose as much as possible and warm compresses on your face.

Avatar f tn Around April last year I had a bad sinus infection, triggered by seasonal allergies. I had a bad post nasal drip, and although the sinus didn't feel blocked, XRays showed it was. I was experiencing facial tightness and tingling sensation around the same time as my sinus issues started. It was also a highly stressful period in my life. I had multiple courses of steroids, antibiotics, over the counter medication, the sinus issue remains.
