antibiotics

Avatar m tn -Diarrhea that burns like hell and smells really bad -No abdominal pain, only pain I have is once it is coming out so to say -MAYBE a low degree fever, I am at work so it is hard to say. Could this be associated with the antibiotics? Anything to do or look out for? Appreciate the help.
Avatar f tn While I had the expected side-effect of diarrhea a couple of times during the regiment, once completed, my stools were very well-formed, passing usually only once per day, and with less urgency. This glorious state lasted for about a month following the antibiotic, and has since tapered off to the norm I knew beforehand. Why did this antibiotic help me so much and what can I do to get back to that wonderful state? Obviously, I cannot stay on antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics can cause diarrhea in and of themselves as a side effect. Antibiotics can also disrupt the normal intestinal flora and cause you to allow a bacteria called Clostridium difficile to take over. You need to get cultured for this. It s a stool (fecal) culture. See your doctor (not the nurse) and ask to have this done. If it is positive they will actually have to treat you with another bacteria to get rid of it plus you will need to take probiotics.
Avatar m tn A month ago, I was admitted to the hospital for Acute Pyelonephritis. For 6 days, they pumped approximately 40 bags of IV antibiotics, fluids, and minerals (potassium, magnesium, etc.) into me. When discharged, I continued another 2 weeks of Cipro and 2 rounds of Fluconazole for yeast infection. Since ending the last round of pills 5 days ago, my bowel movements have begun to return to normal after having antibiotic-induced diarrhea for a month.
Avatar n tn hello, It is due to antibiotics, i suffered 3 weekss of diarrhea from taking a cure of antibiotics and 3 months of stomach and abdominal pains. it is due to antibiotics 100%. the way i made it stopped was drinking a lot of fruit juice with active bacteria. You do the same plus alot of youghurt with active bacteria, not the one with fruits and sugar. hope you get better soon, it wants patience, but i am sure you will soon let it behind.
Avatar m tn You still took the antibiotics. I'm referring to a reaction to the antibiotics causing the diarrhea. Otherwise, there isn't an std that I can think of that would cause diarrhea as I stated in my first reply.
Avatar n tn went to Doctor got prescription for antibiotics – I believe diarrhea started after med’s Monday – Thursday this week – diarrhea 3-4 times each day mostly in the morning up to 2pm – yellow, water consistency - nausea very strong in the mornings / hunger pains regardless if stomach full or not. Burping every 15-20 minutes day and night regardless if stomach full or not. Stomach seems more settled in the evening and very sick in the morning. ^ Can anyone help with this...
Avatar m tn The symptoms of chlamydia (burning while peeing and discharge) subsided during days 2-4 of taking the Doxycycline. Today is day 5, and I had a burning while I pee and what looks like clear discharge. Is this normal during treatment, or is the chlamydia trying to fight through the antibiotics? Also, how soon can I engage in sexual activity without having to worry about transmitting it to my partner? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I developed frequent diarrhea shortly thereafter. It stayed with me for almost 2 weeks after finishing the antibiotics. About two weeks later it has returned. I now have it again for about 1.5 days. Is diarrhea alone without fever or sore throat at symptom of ARS? I am at the 8 week mark now and will get tested shortly but very concerned. Your feedback is most appreciated.
Avatar m tn Drink plenty of water to prevent any dehydration, take some oral rehydration solution and consult a doctor/physician as antimotility agents to control diarrhea and a course of antibiotics is needed. Since diarrhea is associated with fever, so the cause seems bacterial for which antibiotics may be needed. Hope it helps. Take care and do keep me posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
Avatar f tn I feel like i couldn't stop pooping like week 5-6 now im on week 7 almost 8 and can barely poop. Seriously i thought to myself ive never actually wanted diarrhea before but i seriously had to bump up my fiber intake because now i can't go!
Avatar f tn If you eat yogurt while taking antibiotics it helps with the diarrhea immensely. While the antibiotics are fighting infection they are also killing good bacteria in your digestive track.
Avatar f tn Cranberries, cranberry juice, and cranberry extracts are safe. Excessive amounts could cause upset stomach or diarrhea. Pregnant women might suffer these side effects at lower doses. Risks. If you think you have a urinary tract infection, don't rely on cranberries. There's no good evidence that it will help. Instead, see a doctor. If you have health conditions like aspirin allergy or kidney stones, check with a doctor before using cranberry for a health condition.
Avatar m tn I am an 18 year old male and I have had diarrhea for about 3 months now. I don't have any pain in my stomach and I am not dehydrated, I drink plenty of liquids throughout the day. The diarrhea alternates between once a day and a couple of days off then 3 times a day. I have been to the doctor and we have had blood test, urine samples, and stool samples and we haven't found anything wrong yet. He told me to take citracel and eat different types of foods but I'm still having diarrhea.
Avatar f tn I took my antibiotics for bv and then went to sleep. Woke up sweating and running to the bathroom having diarrhea. I'm still sweating and I'm having some stomach pain. Anybody experience this? Is it the antibiotics doing it to me ? I'm 17 weeks pregnant.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Antibiotics can cause diarrhea. Did you have any stool testing done? Anxiety can also lead to weight loss.
Avatar m tn His vet advised me that his system was not processing the food so he gave him a shoot of antibiotics for the vomiting and he gave me some medicine to take home which included; antibiotics for diarrhea, stomach relief medicine, some kind of medicine for possible Giardia, and some pills for the nausea. I then decided to buy him Wellness Core formula instead of Poppy Chow since I read that Wellness Core was Grain free and was better for the dogs.
Avatar f tn A week ago, I got off a course of antibiotics (Augment) that I took for 14 days. It bothered me the entire time I took it. I gradually had bloating, distention of the stomach and tingling, numbness and a 'cold' sensation started later on. This hasn't gone away and has only improved about 30% since taking probiotics and eating a lot of fermented foods and coconut yogurt with live cultures. The Kevita probiotic drinks help the most.
Avatar m tn I just had dental surgery, and I was prescribed Amoxicillin 3 times a day until all the antibiotics were taken. I took three antibiotics a day and 1 capsule of probiotics. I had no stomach pain or diarrhea. People I know who take a full amount of antibiotics can develop bloody diarrhea. Any pharmacy sells probiotics. Take the probiotics that are refrigerated, the cultures remain active when kept cold. I wonder whether your nausea came after taken the antibiotics?
Avatar f tn He was put on antibiotics for 3 weeks and since then has has a lot of GI issues. It started as just diarrhea and his food was changed. Diarrhea continued and he was started on probiotics. Same thing only now he has bloody diarrhea with a really foul smell. Could this be C-Diff from the the medication? What would the treatment require? Thank you for any help you can give me.
