I always have a white tongue, I drink a LOT of water and I use a tongue scraper everyday briefly but it never seems to do anything. It's driving me insane and I can't focus on anything without drinking water every minute. My mouth feels horrible and always has a stingy issue. My tongue feels very rough. I can't for example a mask on my face because it makes my mouth feel uncomfortable.

My oder seems non offensive to all I ask (even the honest ones) but I do have xerostomia and have been referred to oral path for saliva replacement therapy. Any advice what are the true underlying causes of chronic xerostomia? Also my tongue is coated white and I postnasal drip.

Hello, I am suffering from an unexplained xerostomia for more than two years now and it seems HCV might be one of the causes. My anti-HCV tests are negative so far however I heard that often HCv is detected only with PCR RNA tests. Anyone can comment on this? The other common causes for xerostomia are HIV and HTLV (tested already for both). Thanks.

Sorry, Doctor i know i shouldnt be bottering, but the dry mouth i have is because i have a submandibular salivar gland swollen according to my doctor, but he cant find a reason for it, he thought it was an infection and gave me antibiotics and it didnt work, its driving me crazy and i cant keep out of my head that maybe its hiv, now he is telling me that its due a mechanical process of the jaw that maybe i hurted myself i need to know what is this i cant stand it

that did the cleaning to me told me that my saliva glans are producing saliva and that I dont have a dry mouth and that he can see the saliva being produced while he was cleaning my teeth. but I still feel that my mouth is dry can some body healp me?

recently while searching about research on hiv saliva,i came to know that xerostomia is there in hiv people from the mentioned site..and xerostomia is characterised by dryness of mouth and it causes bleeding gums..and hiv patients also have canker sores and some times herpes also..so the saliva is less....i got several spit sprays on my eyes and mouth while going through crowd in the market..

If it is bacteria that is causing this, would a course of antibiotics clear it up.

I got tested immediately after, then 3 months after then 5 months and 15 days after all coming back negative. Is there still a possibility that I have HIV or am i just paranoid. since my mouth was checked for lesions and salivary problems by my regular dentist, a periodontist DMD, and the U of MD Oral Medicine Clinic and they all can find nothing. Meanwhile, i have tried every dry mouth product and am awakened from sleep often at least twice nightly by flakiness and discomfort in my mouth. Drinking water gives NO relief. Also my lips are constantly dry and lip products never seem to help more than a half hour.

finally off of it and now my mouth is so dry-no amount of water, over the counter oral moistures, and eliminating all dry mouth causing drugs i can. taste has changed, spices i can even taste salt in my soda. roof of mouth is red, and hurts when swallowing----any ideas???

I'm a 43 year old female and had my thyroid removed in 2007 due to a suspect nodule. Since then, I've had rapid deterioation of my teeth. Since then I've had two root canals, two crows were unseated and one broke off. I have a bridge, my first molar extracted. My dentist says that he is seeing rapid decay. This year, I've also experienced sporadic pain that radiated from the LL to LR each month like clockwork. I eventually got a root canal and crown on one side.
