Hi and welcome to the forum. There are lots of reasons why a woman would have late periods. Hormones drive them and hormones can be affected by things like stress or illness. If she's on antibiotics, she's probably been ill AND stressed. She should be seeing her ob/gyn annually and if the irregular periods keep up, I would suggest she get checked out by her doctor.
depends on which IUD....if it's the copper one, no effect. and even if it's the one that releases hormones the effect should be minimal because not only does the IUD use hormones to prevent pregnancy but the placement of the IUD itself can actually affect ovulation and the chances of pregnancy..
but the truth about risk of pregnancy due to taking antibiotics concurrently is iffy.
Over the past 3 weeks i've been on a z-pac, amoxicillin, a liquid form of azithromicin, and had two shots in my hips for tonsilitis. Today I started my period and I'm not supposed to start until around the 28th. Some people say some antibiotics can affect your period and some say they can't. I'm jw if anyone knows the truth about that? I never have early periods, always late. and I havent had sex in 2 months and I've had my period already.
The only thing that i had in my last cycle was i had UTI and i took cipro antibiotics. Not sure if this cause that problem? Please help me!
hi i have a question, ive heard that antibiotics kill off the good bacteria, since may of this year i have been on keflex Twice, Cipro Twice, Doxycycline Twice, Bactrim Twice, Azthromycin Twice and have 3 rocephin shots. now thats alot of antibiotics, and i have noticed that i have some intertrigo yeast, under my stomach and in my crotch and scrotum area. is the antibiotics why?
I have been pregnant before while having intercourse on the 14th day of a 28 day menstrual cycle. Could I be pregnant by having intercourse on the 26th day? And would that stop my periods due two days later? My periods have not started on the 30th day and my partner did pull out on time though I know that may not be entirely safe. So I am about 2 days late now and my periods typically start very punctually.And the 26th day activity is the only one in the month.
Please go get swabbed, and if you have BV take all of your antibiotics and have your boyfriend do so too, at the same time. You don't want him giving it back to you.
Hi Kate, antibiotics can definitely effect 'oral' contraceptives but i am unaware of antibiotics being a reason for periods to come mid cycle.....if your talking about having one of the implant forms of contraceptives, i would suggest you consult with your doctor about your irregular cycle.
2 weeks ago I was on antibiotics it was a 5 days course and on the 3rd day of my antibiotics my periods started and my periods were 3 weeks earlier from my date. And today it's been 11 days now and still periods. It's so upsetting. I don't know what to do..
I do know that antibiotics cancel out the effects of the birth control pills (which are hormones). And since Agnus Castus has an effect on hormones, my guess is that there would be some interaction between it and antibiotics. At best, it would just be canceled out like birth control. But the interaction could be bad as well.
I would suggest to stop taking the Agnus Castus while taking the antibiotics. I highly doubt that your Dr.
I ws suppost to receive my periods on 6th this month and all i have been having from then are stomach bloats, gas and sometimes feel pains i ussually feel when i am on my periods. But no periods Could this delay be due to the antibiotics and how much longer will i hav to wait before receiving my periods for this month?

Yeah, pregnancy was my thought at first and even doctors thought the same but after undergoing an ultra sound, they discovered i had 0.87cm cyst in the uterus and some kind of liquid. some antibiotics were prescribed for me and now am still on medication which is gonna take 2weeks anad am even seeing some great change in this. the brown periods are ending and am hoping things get back to normal soon. am hoping for the best and i believe that am going to conceive soon as has been my prayer.
I am 41 and have be given antibiotics etc. for a uterine infection which my gynecologist thinks is the reason for my two micarriages and my lighter periods which have been like this for over a year now. I'm 51 and I too have had three months in a row where I've gotten symptoms of a UTI and last month was diagnosed and given antibiotics which helped. However, along with the horrible cramps I've been getting lately (so close to Menopause) this month I have added loose bowels due to medication for my migraines due to hormones and hemmorioids from the loose bowels, I'm about to lose my mind! I had unprotected oral sex with a CSW yesterday evening. I started on course of amoxicillin for my sinus problems from yesterday morning. If I had contracted gonorrhea or chlamydia from this woman , would the antibiotic help ?. I mean since the bacteria would be incubating now, wouldn't amoxicillin prevent the infection ?.

but we used a condom each time we had sex n it didnt break or anything. i was sick for a week n i was on antibiotics 3times a day i even took a preg. test 3 days ago n it was negative.
Naproxen is similar to Motrin or Nuprin or any of the other anti-inflammatory agents that are used to relieve menstrual pain, and it is very safe and works very well. It is my number one choice to prescribe for dysmenorrhea.
If you are at the point in life that you are "trying" you could still use it during your periods-- just not during ovulation.

I have had regular periods for four years straight . In May I was put on birth control and I've still been regular. I ended my last period on July 21st had a lot of sex the next day and then got a uti three days later which would be the 24th and had sex that day too. On the 29th I started bleeding brown blood and figured it was associated with the uti.
