Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics and glucose levels

antibiotics

Avatar m tn She said there were traces of glucose and white blood cells in my urine. She has asked me to go in for a blood test and I think a Prostate psa test. I forgot to tell the doctor that I had been on antibiotics for 7 days for a skin infection. I finished the course on Sunday and had a urine dipstick test on Wednesday morning. Could the medication raise urine glucose levels?
Avatar n tn It may seem counterintuitive but hunger and glucose levels are two separate processes. Hunger is what your body craves vs excess sugar circulating in your blood stream. Make sense?
Avatar n tn t know about you ladies but I am starting to suspect that the pms is raising my glucose levels and the glucose is spilling into my urine. Glucose in urine is the perfect environment to grow bacteria for UTI's. I tried to get my glucose levels tested while premenstrual but then I missed my period for the first time ever so the test results were inaccurate...of course. I am desperately trying to find the cause of my utis because right now I am on preventative antibiotics.
863754 tn?1239144755 I just did a lot of reading and used a little deductive reasoning. One question though... Her glucose levels have increased and, now, stabilized. If Insulinomas, or any of the other potential causes, are present, could her glucose levels have stabilized like they did? And, if so, are they likely to cause her glucose levels to drastically fall, again? Again, thanks for all the help. I'll stop bugging you after these last questions! We all appreciate the help that you're giving us.

Avatar f tn Have high levels of blood and protein in urine. Glucose levels and blood pressure are fine. I'm about 41 female About a 10 days ago I was surprised when I went to the restroom and noticed I had red bloody urine. At that time I had no pain only the urge to go to the restroom more so but no other symptoms.
Avatar n tn What is happening is the pneumonia is exacerbating the diabetes. Once you get the pneumonia under controll her glucose levels should start leveling out again along with all her other vitals....She needs to go see Dr. and get put on a round of antibiotics....depending on how serious the pneumonia is, she may have to go on IV antibiotics, but that would be the doctors call, hopefully shes not that far off.
Avatar m tn I am a 46 year old Hispanic male. I have type 2 diabetes for about 12 years, I have had my gall bladder removed. I have neuropathy of the lower legs. With all that being said. I have recently had acid reflux. Now within the last 4 weeks I have been having nausea and one day I did vomit and a call to my doctors office suggested to push fluids and make sure to take my Omeprazole. I did and my symptoms subsided.
Avatar n tn s main ingredient is prednisolone, which is a corticosteroid [not be confused with Anabolic steroids], and it may/does raise glucose levels? Did you discuss the length of usage with the eye surgeon and also inform him/her you are diabetic? Depending on length your elevated morning glucose may be short lived. You might consider discussing with your Pharmacist an alternative eye drop that doesn't affect your glucose levels, then call your physician.
Avatar f tn t produce enough of the Thyroid hormone. And I also know that when I had the Glucose test my thyroid levels may have been off because my doctor just adjusted my medication. So should I just no worry as much as retest Glucose after I get Thyroid under control or should I start cutting back on certain foods. I probably should cut back anyway since I am overweight but with Thyroid levels being off I probably won't loose weight anyway.
Avatar m tn Researchers isolated a number of active phytosterol compounds from the gel that were found to reduce blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels. But what study? The study isn''t named. And what researchers? Uncle Bob and Auntie May next door? I dislike reports that do not provide specific names or proof of documentation to back up the test findings. I take these reports as Internet rumors. Who knows if the research was performed on lab rats or humans.
Avatar n tn Check with your Dr. I just recently asked mine about a tatoo, he siad O.K. and wrote a script for antibiotics, since we have to be careful of infection. also do your home work on the place doing the tat. do not jump into it. i have been a diabetic for 37 yrs & insulin dependant for 33 yrs. i myself ALWAYS run things past my Dr. i don't take any chances.
Avatar f tn So I had my glucose test done. My results Came back to 137 and my doctor said I failed. I went back yesterday to do the 3 hr one and I am soooo nervous. I get my results tomorrow. Did you all pass the glucose test?
Avatar m tn Pre-diabetes is considered from 100 to 125 and diabetic is considered 126 and over. However one number is just one number and what would be better is to have an A1C done. This gives you an average of blood sugars for a period of about three months. I suggest talking with your doctor, getting an accurate diagnosis and then going from there. If you are determined to be pre-diabetic or to have type 2 diabetes then you can begin to determine a plan to manage your blood sugars.
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
Avatar n tn My 18-mo-old had a fundoplication on is having very unstable glucose levels - his "episodes" have become more frequent and today was example: 6:30am - woke up SCREAMING his head off (after waking up every 2 hours during the night with excessive thirst and peeing through 4 diapers - 8pm-6:30am - this is a typical night for us for past 9-10 months).
Avatar m tn I went to see a physical therapist who put me under a strenuous back strengthening program - lots of resistance stretching along with seeing a pain management specialist (doctor). In less than a month the pain went away. And my glucose returned to my normal levels.
Avatar n tn I've had my blood sugar checked several times over the past 12 months in relation to my frequent lightheadedness / imbalance. My fasting bloodsugar seems to be around 120-130 usually. I had a glucose tolerance test and it came back "normal". A new doctor just ran an a1c test on me and it came back as 6. I am over weight (not losing weight as I often read about when looking up diabetes). Does above normal blood sugar always mean diabetes?
Avatar f tn In a person without diabetes, the glucose levels in the blood rise following drinking the glucose drink, but then then fall quickly back to normal (because insulin is produced in response to the glucose, and the insulin has a normal effect of lowing blood glucose.
Avatar f tn Thanks you for your comment.I really do hope I can get an answer, for whats happening to me,but my best bet is just to stay calm about it and not freak out so much.So far I've been told that madication can raise glucose levels and blood pressure as well, that's just the way the body copes with unknown meds especially this types of drugs. But so far I'm still a little scared.
Avatar n tn the a1c is 6.2 fasting glucose was 99 and now the two hour post meal glucose was 107.....doc said he cant dx at this time because the numbers are now normal sans the a1c. he thinks the infection may have caused some small spike but not that much. i used the official nyc lab this time. i havent had time to moderate diet and excercise in just 4 days. whole thing seems odd but doc seems to think if i cut 20 pounds this goes to a normal range. we shall see!
Avatar f tn The first study evaluated magnesium levels in men and women ages 60 – 90 with the metabolic syndrome. Those with metabolic syndrome had lower magnesium levels than those not having the problem. In particular, magnesium affected blood sugar levels and insulin resistance. Another recent study showed that taking 600 mg of magnesium per day significantly improved blood sugar metabolism as well as triglycerides and cholesterol.
