Avatar f tn (1) Lexapro went generic and I started the generic and, (2) my patch was increased from 12 to 25. I can't think clearly I'm instantly angry. I have a very short fuse. I cry over everything and nothing. I've looked at the drug interactions and it seems they ALL have them (with each other). I cannot survive this depression but cannot survive the pain either. I am working with my whole medical entourage but wanted to see if anyone else is in a similar boat and has advice.
1225178 tn?1318980604 depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that medication can correct. According to the chemical imbalance theory, low levels of the brain chemical serotonin lead to depression and depression medication works by bringing serotonin levels back to normal. However, the truth is that researchers know very little about how antidepressants work.
Avatar m tn Drear kcfp, I am diagnosed with Severe Chronic Depression and have had it for many years. I take 3 anti-depressants - I have taken over all the anti-depressants available. The work for a while, then they do not. One of my anti-depressants is a "mind food" not medication.
Avatar f tn I have had depression for 20 years, and know I must stay on medication for the rest of my life. I am 69 so not so bad, for a younger person it must be a worry. Obviously you have to stay on an anti-depressant until you feel you are well enough to stop. I have stopped 3 times, but for me, the depression always comes back. You have to decide what is best for you. It is known that depression does often return. Try stopping, if you feel you want to, and see how you go. Only you can decide.
Avatar m tn The bad thing with depression and insomnia, is the meds to help you sleep can make depression worse and increase the risk of suicide.
Avatar m tn I am still struggling with the loss of my wife of many years, and old age adds to the mental struggle with I think is depression. There is not family history of trouble, I think mine is not genetic. I tried Trazadone prescription for a year, I think it disturbs my sleep pattern. Just home from my primary care doctor and he gave me a prescription for Generic Zoloft. I will give that a try.
Avatar m tn Gabapentin) or Lyrica (generic: NA) and Cymbalta (generic: NA) are good medications to try to help with this pain. Opioid medications may still be helpful to you but their effectiveness on nerve pain is limited; however, they may provide some additional meaningful relief due to synergistic effects. A muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory are helpful too.
1134609 tn?1269272200 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
4182046 tn?1355820039 I gor diagnosed with depression and anxiety and age 16, three years later here I am and pregnant! I stopped my medication as soon as I found out (20 mg citalopram) but my anxiety and depression are so bad, I really feel like I need my medication. Has anyone taken citalopram or another antidepressent while pregnant? pros and cons?
Avatar f tn I'm planning on going back onto medication for depression and anxiety as it's got much worse since being pregnant. I think after your first trimester any defects people claim pills can cause are massively decreased because your baby is developed much more. Just go through all options with your doctor first and any cons of pills you may take. Ask to see a counsellor as well as that may help as well.
Avatar n tn No the antipsychotic is called Clozaril (generic name Clozapine). The anti-anxiety medication is Klonopin (generic name Clonazepam). Two totally different medications. You are on the correct medication.
Avatar f tn Xanax is a benzodiazepine, an anti-anxiety and anti-seizure medication that targets GABA receptors. Benzos act only for a short time, some longer, some shorter, while antidepressants work all day while you're on them. Both can be very hard to stop taking -- benzos are addictive, and Paxil is difficult to stop if you take it for any length of time because the brain has to readapt to working naturally when you stop an antidepressant (or a benzo).
Avatar f tn I am currently looking for a new depression medication. I need some info on something that is NOT a SSRI, a hormone, and is not zoloft, celexa, or prozac......also something that does not contain salicylic acid aka aspirin. If anyone can help I would appreciate the help.
Avatar f tn Im on medication for depression and anxiety. Also occasionally I have a sedative in case I go bizzercerz. Would that hurt my child more than stress would?
Avatar f tn My 13 year old takes twice the dose I do as well as an anti psychotic medication so he doesn't kill himself. I have had serious issues finding him another psychiatrist to prescribe the Celexa . I stopped abruptly so he could have mine. I know it's illegal but he really needs it. I'm hoping I found a doctor who can perscibe it for him next week. My appointment is longer out.
1110049 tn?1409402144 If people find other ways to defeat depression, I admire them. We are all different. I know now I will need medication for the rest of my life, just to feel "normal." Anti-depressants have stopped me killing myself.
Avatar n tn I went off Effexor 6 months ago and my doctor put me on 150 mg of the Zoloft generic and also started me on Wellbutrin generic. I find that I get the same daily trends as far as anxiety and depression. I don't know if it's related to an aftermath of my drinking or if it can be from the meds. It's always depression in the AM, around 11:30 am I feel anxiety and around 2:30 it's the worst. Around 6pm I crash and it's depression but I feel more clearheaded.
Avatar n tn i have been suffering from major depression and anxiety for more than 6 months, i tried different medication but nothing helped but recently my doctor gave me new medication called sertraline and after 2 weeks of taking this medication i feel 70% better than before. my main symptoms have started to vanish and i feel like full recovery is just around the corner.
Avatar n tn ve looked at several medication blog sites and have seen numerous posts of women reporting hair loss from anti-depressants including Wellbutrin so I was really questioning the validity of the "less than 1%" finding from the Wellbutrin trials.
822153 tn?1333062995 Wondering if anyone has had any noticable changes/experiences between generic drugs and name-brands??? Specifically regarding anti-depressants. I just read an interesting article in "Self" magazine (June '09 edittion) that presented a lot of scary, interesting facts regarding this. To anyone on anti-depressants, specifically Wellbutrin (budeprion) like I am, it is worth reading...pretty scary considering a drug manufacturer in India fudged an omitted some of the test results.
Avatar f tn I think the anti-depressants can do so much, but we still get our ups and downs. I have had depression for over 20 years, and been on many anti-depressants, but still have my ups and downs. The medication can only do so much. It is not a cure. There are times when I feel really well, and then for no reason I go "down" again, even when I am taking my medication which I have been on quite a while. I don't think it is the fault of the medication.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had on medication for prozac and had stopped for 2 months. Now my psychiatrist thinks that I need it back but then due to financial problems I won't can afford it. I had reacted badly when I was due to see counselor last 2 weeks ago and earlier on I had taken the prozac for more than half a year. Do I really need the medicine?
