622511 tn?1373575103 I took my 1st dose earlier tonight NO unusual runs or PVC onset, YET? Can you advise on which SSRI/SNRI is best for anxiety/panic that is or may be less likely to induce or just even aggravate a so-called "benign" but 14 year rhythm disorder, especially PVC's, not so much a little tachycardia that some of these SSRI's are known to precipitate, as I am more bothered by the PVC's, as are most people that have them. Thanks so much to ALL.
Avatar n tn MY GOODNESS--DONT YOU FIND IT ODD THAT AS SOON AS YOU STARTED TAKING ALL THOSE MED'S YOU STARTED TO EVEN MORE FEEL CRAPPY? ANXIETY IS POWERFUL....I HATE TO SAY IT BUT, I BELIEVE THE ANTI-ANXIETY MED'S REALLY ONLY SHUT DOWN VERY MILD CASES OF ANXIETY. SO IT MIGHT BE UNDERSTANDABLE THAT YOUR POWERFUL MIND COUPLED WITH MEDICATION DESIGNED TO TUNE OUT ALL THE BODIES ANXIETY/STRESS MECHINESIMS AND A POSSIBLE ILLNESS --IS A REALLY UNSTABLE COMBO???
396332 tn?1320007215 Cymbalta isn't an ssri, it's an snri. But any medication, not matter for what, can affect digestion. One way to deal with it is by taking digestive enzymes and aloe vera juice if it hangs around.
Avatar m tn I really really need help... I started to take Seroxat (an SSRI) due to anxiety and insomnia about 3.5 years ago , and later get cognitive problems such as memory loss, poor concentration, blunted in responsiveness , impediment in speech and so on .I'm quite certain that these problems are caused by Seroxat (surely not depression or neurasthenia), so I have been off ALL ADs since 1.5 years ago. However my cognitive functions hasn't seemed to recover over the past 1.5 years.
Avatar f tn I know Zoloft is both an antidepressant and anti-anxiety, but I would prefer to be on something more geared towards the anxiety. I don't have a depression-just severe generalized anxiety. How should I go about discussing switching to a more anti-anxiety focused med? I've heard a lot of bad things about Zoloft. I hear a lot of people gain weight & this is a huge concern for me. Thanks for the help!
Avatar m tn it's odd that LSD did this to you, but some people it really does have a horribly negative effect on. Paxil is known as the best SSRI out there for agoraphobia and social anxiety. It had a paradoxical effect on me when I took it. Prozac made it impossible for me to sleep when combined with my ADD meds, but Zoloft helped a bit I believe. You need an SSRI for this... so I'd not take Wellbutrin or any of the tricyclic class of anti-depressants.
Avatar m tn Hi, i have been trying to find the right medication for severe depression and a new problem that came after the depression 3 months ago which is ocd instrusive thoughts that never had I first was put on zoloft which within 24 hours skyrocketed suicidal thought/ feelings so immediately stopped. Then put on lexapro which did same thing. Now doctor is thinking of seraquil or anafranil.
Avatar m tn Hello everybody ! Avatar m tn If you're having problems with sleep and tension, maybe your doctor can prescribe a short term anti-anxiety medication? You just need to be patient with your body right now. If your goal is to be free of medications, you can certainly get there, and you're well on your way. You just need to remember that your body has to catch up as it gets used to being without these substances! Does your doctor not think that you have bipolar disorder?
Avatar n tn I have tried many anti-depressants and most of them give me tremors (where my jaws start jerking for no reason) is this normal?
1321537 tn?1274474117 What other medication are you on? Sometimes anti-depressants are taken for anxiety also--like the SSRI's. I take Paxil for my anxiety...and when I was getting used to it (usually takes about a month) I took clonazepam, so I have some experience with it. I originally went on medication after the birth of my 3rd child. I was having some severe post-partum anxiety with panic attacks. First we tried cipralex, and it never actually started working for me...
Avatar f tn I stopped seeing my doctor and taking antidepressants for 7 months, I only attend to NA meetings and work the NA steps, I don't trust any of the doctors and medication, I have been hospitilized many times and NA has been the only place that I had stopped my using.
Avatar f tn After many years of Anxiety/Depression and many different types of anti-depressants ...i have recently been prescribed Escitalopram 5mg. I was wondering if anyone had taken this medication and were the results good/bad/indifferent.
Avatar m tn whats the best medication out there that can help treat anxiety dizziness, fainting and light headed'ness? the only anti anxiety medication iv tryed is pregabalin, which that didnt help the dizziness.im allso on fluxoteine and sturgeon, any help is great!
Avatar m tn Hi there, ive been trying lexapro for the past 6 weeks or so to combat my stints of anxiety. Although i feel slightly better from the medication i cant handle the sexual side effects. Im in a new relationship and for love nor money i just cant orgasm. My sex drive is much lower too. Has anyone had experiences from other medications that dont give these side effects?
768044 tn?1294227036 I spent so many hours squirming on the floor in so much pain and with so much anxiety and feeling so uncomfortable... it was horrible. That hasn't happened this time and I am very grateful. It's a horrible experience and I really got a glimpse into what it must be like for someone who is addicted to really addictive drugs. I mean... technically, effexor isn't really "addictive" because it's not mentally addictive.
Avatar m tn I always get visual disturbances and a heavy head. I was on anti depressants for over 20 years. Some anti depressants I took did give me side effects, and we are all different when it comes to our tolerance of anti depressants. What suits one person may not suit another. Also withdrawals from some can give bad side effects. I have been drug free for over a year, and still get migraines, but am used to them. If your doctor does not feel there is anything seriously wrong, then don't worry.
Avatar f tn When I was younger, my mom was reluctant to look into anti depressants because of the affects they have on teenagers, but i'm 18 now, and it's apparent that anti depressants can be very beneficial for me because as far as my mental health goes, i've reached my breaking point. I'm just wondering how much of a difference in my mood will anti depressants make.
1306047 tn?1333247191 Often people take short-term benzos like Ativan or Xanax while getting on an SSRI. The first week or two starting an SSRI can increase your anxiety temporarily. In order to increase your chance of success doctors try to make you comfortable enough so you won't quit the SSRI the second day. You have to give them an honest effort if you go that route.
428506 tn?1296560999 On this theme, wouldn't it also make sense to see a therapist if I do start anti-depressants? I thought it was better to be monitored. Finally, I am worried that anti-depressants might affect me beyond my symptoms. I'm not looking for something to come into my life and change my mood, sleep patterns, concentration, and so on. I guess the bottom line is that, like anyone, I don't want to be on meds unless I need to be. In this case, evaluating that need seems really complicated.
Avatar f tn Personally given what you say, I wouldn't be taking anything other than possibly a light anti-anxiety drug then. Anxiety about starting treatment and work stress hard to focus etc is much different than what SSRI"s are intended for...clinical depression. Clinical depression is a life altering serious disease that needs powerful medication to help with. The normal life stuff usually is not a reason to take one of these meds than can very often have serious sides and some long lasting..
Avatar n tn Again, we are not looking for an antidepressant as much as an anti-anxiety medication with few side effects when used over the long term. Also, the goal is to help her with her anxiety, not to turn her into a zombie. We would want her to maintain her "true self," so to speak, not become overly sedated.
Avatar m tn From what I have read as well as independent, double-blind studies done by universities (not drug company trials), they showed that for mild to moderate depression, a sugar pill was sometimes more effective than any of the SSRI, SARI, anti-psychotics,Tri-cyclics, etc. meds. So that would indicate that because you think you are feeling better due to the drug while in fact it is only a placebo effect. These drugs have, however shown to be quite helpful in people with SEVERE depression.
Avatar n tn How do you really avoid stress its everywhere. Is it normal to use antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs when you have v-tach?
2111850 tn?1334369185 The most common treatment modality is an SSRI antidepressant (like Zoloft, Lexapro, etc), sometimes along with a short term course of an anti-anxiety med, like Xanax, to help control your symptoms while you are waiting for the AD to start working. That can take up to 6 weeks or more, depending on the person, so it's a process that requires some patience. Therapy along with the medications is also strongly recommended.
Avatar n tn Different things help different people. For me meds (was on almost all of the anti anxiety meds and anti depressants), therapy, biofeedback, group therapy, deep breathing exercises, yoga, EMDR NOTHING helped until I found a book written by a Psychologist, Dr. Claire Weeks who deals with people like us. This has finally helped me with my anxiety and panic attacks but as for the phobia about going for a doctor's appointment I could not get over it yet.
Avatar n tn For the past week I've been going through anxiety attacks and today I started taking anti depressives ( Paroxetina ) as it is called here in Brasil! Can someone tell me if it is normal to feel headaches and nausea the first time you take this kind of medication?
581310 tn?1253033150 My question is I was thinking about having my therapist put me on klonopin for the anxiety and switch my anti depressant. What anti depressant do you think would be good for anxiety and ocd? Also, I have noticed since being on the prozac that my hands are always shaky.
