Common Questions and Answers about Anti anxiety medication information

Avatar f tn I think I've made this too confusing. I'm just wondering about the best over-the-counter anti-anxiety medication available. That work quickly. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you. :) (I'm a minor, by the way. 16. If that matters, which I'm assuming it might, because I don't know what I can and can't buy from Walgreens at this age.
Avatar f tn I know that you stated that these did not work work for you in the past, however, when the second agent is added to them they become a very effective anti-anxiety/anti-depressant combinations. One other piece of information you need to have if you ever switch off of Paxil is that it is very possible that you can have withdrawal side effects, so hopefully your doctor will move the new one in as you slowly come off of it.
669357 tn?1225720542 Until you deal with THAT, drugs will only mask the symptoms and your problem will still be there. I am not saying that you don't need or should not use an anti-anxiety med to help you get through this ordeal, but they should be used in conjunction with therapy.
Avatar n tn If I were to entertain an anti-anxiety type medication, what would you recommend?
Avatar n tn I am currently looking for a psycho pharmacologist that will assist with a targeted short duration anti-anxiety medication and not just shove 24/7 medication at me. ------------------ REASON FOR QUESTION: My last attempt with a GP at getting a mild sedative (I had not distinguished between anti-anxiety and sedation and was not educated at the time) did not get anywhere. I was able to get Ambien for insomnia (a sedative!). I took .05 - 1.
1236133 tn?1270313735 If you could provide us with a little more information, we'll try to help. I'm not sure what medication you are talking about? The closest thing to the spelling you offered is a med called Cataflam, otherwise known as Voltaren, which is a med used for inflammation, as in arthritis. I'm willing to bet that's not what you are talking about. Unless you are speaking of Clonazepam, or Klonopin, which is an anti-anxiety med. Could you please clarify that for us?
Avatar n tn Regarding the anxiety, I would suggest discussion of treatment. This can involve anti-anxiety medications (i.e. Buspar or benzodiazepines), as well as anti-depressant medications (i.e. Zoloft, Lexapro or Prozac). Each has been shown to help with anxiety, and these options should be discussed with your personal physician. Followup with your personal physician is essential.
Avatar n tn There are other anti-anxiety drugs that have no sedative side effects. These include the SSRI's (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors such as Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Prozac, and Paxil), 5-HT1A agonists (buspirone), and TCA's (tricyclic antidepressants) which all affect the concentration of serotonin at certain receptors in the brain. One in particular is Manerix (moclobemide).
Avatar f tn i started off having anxiety while driving and now i have it at home school, work. I havent been to a doctor yet because of insurance which i have now. I have started exercising and i have saw a therapist on campus at my college. I want to try to get through this without using medications. do you have any suggestions what i can do about my situation.
Avatar m tn If it was malignant or MS, it would be more consistent and worsen. For at least 10 years I was anti-medication because I didn't want to become dependent but I find a low does (25mg Wellbutrin + 50mg Zoloft) gives me the stability that I may actually fix this forever. Medication is a personal decision and it doesn't have to be habit-forming. Try to sleep more. Your body has changed and it will have special needs now.
Avatar n tn A few years ago I was drugged and attacked and ever since then I have developed an anxiety disorder as well as PTSD. I am terrified of taking any type of medication, even aspirin. I have finally begun therapy, and my therapist really wants me to try to take something and I was prescribed a low dose, 37.5mg of Venlafaxine (Effexor) by my primary care doctor. I have read all the possible side effects, one of which is seizure.
Avatar f tn MANY people have very stressful lives and high demand jobs who work a lot of hours, and don't require taking an anti-anxiety medication, certainly not regularly. A short term benzo taken regularly will end up causing you more problems than you started with, due to tolerance and dependency. It's also a bit worrisome that you'd be willing to self medicate and try to double your dose. You definitely need to speak with your doc and try to find a more reasonable long term solution, IMO.
1306047 tn?1333247191 I'm really interested in some real life testimonies of people's experiences with medication for anxiety and perhaps OCD. I'd appreciate some perspectives anyone who care's to elaborate.
Avatar n tn I just ordered "Serenity," an all natural anti-depressant and anti-anxiety supplement. Do these really work? Is there anything in any of them I should be worried about? I have heard of Amoryn as well, I am going to give them a try because I have GAD, and my anxiety is now developing into obsessive thoughts and mild to moderate depression, but I do not want to go on any prescription medication. I would love to hear what anyone has to say about this, thanks.
Avatar n tn By the end of the day , you should have gleened enough information from all of these great folks to start formulating a plan to deal with you anxiety. Here is my two cents... I have suffered from Generalized Anxiety Disorder since 1990 and have been gone through varoius medications and consuling trying to deal with it.
941118 tn?1312285526 This drug seems to work quite well for a lot of people and not so well for others. It, like all other anti-arrhythmics will eventually become pro-arrhythmic. If you have structural problems with your heart you should not take it at all.
Avatar f tn why must i have it but others don't. its so annoying. i don't do things anyhow. i always stay safe.
209987 tn?1451939065 Wanted to add, try going to the ASPCA.irg web site. They have a lot of useful information they is just too long to try and post here. Do a search for Separation Anxiety.
Avatar m tn Since the title of your post was withdrawal from anti-anxiety drugs, I can respond to that. Since you have not been on those drugs since last year, you are no longer withdrawing from them. They are out of your system and your body has adjusted. On the other hand, I have panic disorder, and I take Klonopin for it. For a short while, I switched to Ativan, and then back to Klonopin. I recall the withdrawals were fierce from Ativan, but only lasted about three months. I'm still on Klonopin.
Avatar f tn If someone has been through the current generation of antipsychotics without success or has tardive dyskinesia and cannot take Clozaril I would provide them more information about its usage to give to their provider but can't print the specifics on a public thread. Pm me if you want more information. As for anti-anxiety agents there are many currently available.
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with anxiety and depression since i was about 16 years old. There is an extremely strong family history, so I'm pretty confident that most of it is biological, although there are probably some underlying stressors. Last year I was on 5 mg of lexapro and 15mg of remeron for sleeping and eating. When I got home for the summer my doc recommended that I try getting off the lexapro.
Avatar n tn The only issue is that Xanax and all the other anti-anxiety and anti depression medication are addictive and you will have to deal with that once you decide to stop taking them. I got off of xanax, it was difficult and painful, but it is possible. No one told me of the horrible withdrawl of this drug. If I had known that I would have taken them differently...definitely not as many. If you do take them, try to take them for a limited period 4 to 6 weeks. Take it as needed.
Avatar n tn A lot of people have said that Prozac is one of the better Anti-depressants to switch to while coming off Effexor, it lessens the side effects of Effexor withdrawal. But Prozac, like all other Anti-depressant medication has it's own withdrawal symptoms too. No anti-depressant really seems better than the other in the way of withdrawal symptoms, I'm in the same boat as you and I really wish you the best of luck.
Avatar f tn I still feel anxious and angry, irritable and just uncomfortable all the time. Ive been trying all kinds of different anti anxiety medications, Ive tried paxil, celexa, buspar, and the benzos. I must be really sensitive to medications because the side effects of all of these are horrible. I take them for two days and im seeing things, cant sleep and have jolts. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any other medication suggestions?
