Common Questions and Answers about Anti aging treatments dermatologist

anti-aging

Avatar f tn I have used 2 types of face creams I think have made it worse - both were over the counter daily anti-aging moisturizers - but thats not the only time it seems to get worse. Does anybody know what this is from and what I can do about it??? It makes it look like I have a mustache but its nothing I can wax off! I have seen Ambi, a OTC skin lightener, but I am scared to home bleach my skin.
Avatar f tn What could be causing this? I really want to get to the bottom of this because cosmetics products and treatments are so expensive and time consuming, and most of them don't even work. Some days my face looks so bad that I'm too embarrassed to leave my house. I'm too embarrassed to talk to my doctors about this because I doubt that they're going to care.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm 20 yrs old and I would like to know what anti aging face cream should I put on to prevent wrinkles.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if a handheld LED/Ultrasound device used for skin anti-aging purposes would affect the thyroid if used over the neck, if there is a diagnosis of hypo OR hyperthyroidism? Thank you.
Avatar n tn t do much without some really expensive dermatological treatments, but you could try the anti-aging wrinkle reducing creams in the skin care aisle. You should also wear sun screen every day to prevent further wrinkle formation (not to mention reduce the chances of skin cancer).
Avatar m tn Hi, Kinetin is a cytokinen which is useful in cell division. It is used in many cosmetics for anti aging. Please discuss the same with your dermatologist before going in for any cosmetics. i hope it helps. regards.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am interested in Red light therapy to help improve skin condition and skin aging symptoms, such as to help with sun damage. There are both places you can go for treatment and home units you can buy, they average around $350. Tanning salons are now even offering Red Light beds, so it definitely is becoming kind of a craze. It has also been on Doctor Oz show, though not sure of the reliability of that. I would be interested in a home unit.
Avatar f tn I’ve been using prescription strength differin gel for acne for many years, and would like to add a retinol moisturizer to my skincare routine for anti-aging benefits. Would like to know if the combination is safe?
1064785 tn?1406638398 I do not know if there is anything specifically geared towards pregnancy- I am sure there is. I like the 'skin deep' section on the environemental working groups page. Please know it is kind of overly-cautious, but at least you can see why somethings are worse for you than others and what the ingredients are that shoud be avoided. Hope this helps! Congrats on your tww! Stick and grow baby!
Avatar n tn Ive had this for a long time now and have tried folliculitus treatments/anti fungal treatments and light soap treatments. It is such a pain can someone please tell me what they think it might be?
Avatar n tn I have been to the dermatologist. He used liquid nitrogen to treat them. He specifically called them Molluscum Contagiosum. They keep appearing and spreading from my groin to my inner thigh. They are relentless. How can you treat and stop them? I have found some treatments over the internet using silver, tree oil, and iodine, but I am skeptical. What about Retin-A? Will salicylic acid work? Im confused and very frustrated with this condition.
Avatar f tn What vitamins can I take to prevent aging? Exclusively the face and neck areas. If there is not a vitamin, can herbs help and what kind? Any Natural Preventions?
Avatar m tn Hi there For the last two or three years I have had extremely dry skin that no creams or lotions seem to help. I went to a dermatologist and she suggested some creams but I have to apply them every 2-3 hours for them to be any good. My face is not so much as visibly dry. It just feels really tight and uncomfortable to me. A GP gave my hydro cortisone but they I realised I was only meant to use it one or twice.
Avatar n tn I went to my dermatologist, who thought they were either flat warts or some kind of dermatitis. I think it is likely the latter, as the antibiotic/antifungal/steroid cream she recommended seems to be working after a couple of days. However, if it turns out to be the former (flat warts or something similar), are they highly contagious, and if so, are they at all associated with cervical cancer or other problems in women (I'm concerned for the future).
Avatar f tn I have noticed, in my face, that sometimes a new wrinkle will pop up overnight. The first time I noticed this, I was 22. At this point it wasn't aging per se, just a muscle under the skin giving up. What surprised me was not having smile wrinkles then, but that it basically happened overnight, but when you think that what happens with the skin wrinkling is that something changes about the muscle under the skin, well, it has to happen sometime, and it might not be gradual in every case.
Avatar f tn I haven't heard of any of this anti-aging stuff with these two supplements. I use Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) to help with peripheral neuropathy. I noticed that it really does cut down on the amount of neuropathy I experience. When I did some online research for Acetyl L Carnitine and neuropathy, since it's also used. The difference is that it is recommended that people check with their doctors before using the Acetyl L Carnitine.

546892 tn?1214525401 Isotretinoin is a type of medication used to treat severe acne (nodlo cystic or nodular acne) which have failed to respond to other treatments including any type of oral antibiotics and topical application creams. Accutane is strong medicine for acne cure but can have serious side effects.
1322278 tn?1274545297 I have tried anti-fungal, antifungal with hc helps but it comes back, its does not itch or bother her at all and is nowhere else on her body. When it starts to clear it kind of clears in the middle with a raised border.
Avatar m tn Since it is not responding to antibiotics/anti-fungals/anti-roseacea medications it could be allergy or an auto-immune disorder which sometimes can present with rashes. Allergies are prone to recurrence . Try anti-histamines and see if they are of any help.
Avatar f tn I didn't really notice much aging until I went into menopause and neither did anyone else, at least they didn't say anything. to upset me. About 2 years post menopause at 53 I started to notice a little more lines around my eyes but it was nothing I couldn't handle. Then out of nowhere, store clerks started asking me if I was a senior. I told myself they were hiring 16 yr olds and to them everyone looks old?.
Avatar f tn I was assured it was not an STD by a nurse practitioner. Tried a combination of anti fungal and antibacterial creams that did not work. She finally came upon the idea that it could be eczema, prescribed Triamcinolone and it was gone within a few days. Occasionally I will get red or dry spots and only on the tip and shaft of my penis. If a woman were to see or fee it she would assume it is an STD. Are there any specific things such as a laundry detergent that could be causing it?
Avatar m tn Since you ask, my advice is to seek out another (or more than one) dermatologist who will treat the rosacea in a manner other than with anti-Dermodex formulations which could do more harm than good. Meanwhile, stay away from rosacea triggers such as too much sun. Also do not use any topical steroids -- even OTC Hydrocortisone -- on your face unless under the direct supervision of a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Go to ulta and talk to their estheticians for a professional recommendation. While pregnant do stay away from retinols which are anti aging. They can cause birth defects. But look for something that has hyaluronic acid in it which is a natural chemical our body makes which helps retains moisture by 1000x its weight. So it is super hydrating which will help reduce and prevent wrinkles.
