Common Questions and Answers about Anti aging products acne prone skin

anti-aging

Avatar n tn Currently manufacturers of skin products have been trying to provide a wide array of skin care products to suit each skin type. For an individual to get the best skin care, one should follow a particular regimen of cleansing, toning , exfoliating and moisturizing. As one grows older however, exfoliation may damage the thinning skin. Cleansing and moisturizing are still essential as one ages. The use of sunscreen for the face is still a must.
Avatar n tn I would avoid heavy moisturisers if you are prone to acne as over use of oily anti-aging products has lead, in part, to the increase of adult acne in women.
Avatar n tn I tried all kinds of anti-acne products, cheap and very expensive ones, but nothing really helped. I realized that my skin tended to get dry and therefore the skin would compensate by producing 'oil' and therefore break out... It was really frustrating because I couldn't find any moisturiser that seemed to help without leading to further break-outs! About six months ago I found 'Clinique anti-blemish' solutions, and it totally changed my skin!
Avatar n tn Since these acne products increase cell turnover and exfoliation, I was wondering if extensive use could lead to premature aging of the skin. One of the components of aging is mutation via repeated DNA replication. The more times your body makes copies of its cells, the higher the chance of a mutation occurring and a less-than-perfect copy being made. So, does it follow that BP and SA, by increasing skin cell renewal, would hasten the aging process?
Avatar m tn I started by tapering off, with few negative effects, and after about a week or two of being completely medication-free, the cystic acne started popping up... in the usual acne-prone spots but also in some unusual places that usually don't have problems for me.

Avatar f tn Yeah, just stay away from retinoids (washes/creams for anti-aging), salicylic acid and soy! You can look up online or ask your doctor the different things to look for in the ingredients!
Avatar n tn If it contains benzoyl peroxide this may be contributing to his sensitized skin. Whilst using these products i would recommend also using Lutsine hydrafnia cleanser and moisturizer. They are especially made for spot-prone skin which has become irritated due to acne therapy. Look online for delivery or stockists in your area. How old is your son? If long-term use of anti-biotics has proved ineffective, he may be a candidate for oral accutane.
Avatar f tn Aveeno makes a lotion with salicylic acid in it for acne-prone skin. You can use white vinegar as an astringent at bedtime. It causes temporary redness, which is why you use it at night. If it's too strong, you can dilute it with witch hazel. For new spots you can treat them with toothpaste; it dries them out quickly. Neem soap is also good for acne.
Avatar f tn I truly recommend to use tan extending tinted moisturiser products to get rid of face acne and fine dark lines problems.
Avatar m tn Effaclar by La Roche-Posay is for intolerant acne prone skin. La Roche-Posay also make a range called Rosaliac for rosacea, and you can use this cleanser frequently. Eucerin make a cleanser for sensitized acneic skin. It is oil-free, antibacterial, perfume free and compatible with anti-acne treatments. Eucerin also make a Redness Relief range, their soothing cleanser for visably red skin is good. Eloise.
Avatar m tn This is because anti-androgens and oestrogens block the effect of acne-causing hormones on the skin. These can be prescribed for acne whether birth control is needed or not. Your daughter will need to use such medications for a long as she is prone to acne. If she stops taking them too soon, her acne will return. Best Wishes, Eloise.
Avatar m tn Can you share your anti-aging regimen like cream, facial wash, soap, supplements, diet, etc. Would appreciate any info. Thanks!
Avatar n tn For my face I use the special cleansing gel which is very gentle and the Active Moist moisturizer ( it keeps your skin hydrated but is oil-free for acne prone skin) If you are looking for something inexpensive Aveeno has products for sensitive skin, you can also try Purpose skin care products or Cetaphil products. Both of these are dermatologist recommended and hypo-allergenic. Whatever you try, make sure it is fragrance and oil free ( most products for sensitive skin are).
Avatar n tn Lutsine Hydrafnia make a moisturiser especially for acne prone skin which has become dry or irritated due to spot therapy. I also like Roche-Posay products such as Effaclar.
1064785 tn?1406638398 I do not know if there is anything specifically geared towards pregnancy- I am sure there is. I like the 'skin deep' section on the environemental working groups page. Please know it is kind of overly-cautious, but at least you can see why somethings are worse for you than others and what the ingredients are that shoud be avoided. Hope this helps! Congrats on your tww! Stick and grow baby!
Avatar m tn Acne is the term used to describe oily skin with spots and blackheads on the face, chest or back. Acne spots may be single or numerous. Individual spots may clear in about a week, but the condition can last throughout childhood, adolesence and into adulthood. Luckily there are many ways to treat and prevent acne until you are no longer prone to it. For occasional individual spots I like ByeByeBlemish drying lotion. For more widespread mild to moderate acne I recommend Freederm.
Avatar f tn I don’t have cystic acne but I need help with what I should apply to my face to fix my skin and restore it to how it used to be. I have oily acne prone skin but after my sleepover my acne cheeks have dried a little.
Avatar n tn I fell in LOVE with a product by Philosophy called Purity Made Simple. I use it with the Micro Exfoliating Wash. Purity every night, takes off makeup and yucky build-up we acquire during the day. Exfoliating in the morning to take off dead skin cells. I have always had acne and oily skin and have NEVER found anything that has worked for me. I have seriously tried everything. Proactiv, Murad, Neutrogena, Clearasil, and Clinique's Acne Line. And this new regimen is working like a miracle.
