Avatar n tn Currently manufacturers of skin products have been trying to provide a wide array of skin care products to suit each skin type. For an individual to get the best skin care, one should follow a particular regimen of cleansing, toning , exfoliating and moisturizing. As one grows older however, exfoliation may damage the thinning skin. Cleansing and moisturizing are still essential as one ages. The use of sunscreen for the face is still a must.

1064785 tn?1406638398 I do not know if there is anything specifically geared towards pregnancy- I am sure there is. I like the 'skin deep' section on the environemental working groups page. Please know it is kind of overly-cautious, but at least you can see why somethings are worse for you than others and what the ingredients are that shoud be avoided. Hope this helps! Congrats on your tww! Stick and grow baby!

One brand I recommend, and I recommend buying it from a discount place, since it's a little on the expensive side, is called Weleda, which is a German company. The boxes and containers are pink, so they do stand out. The one I use when I need something extra gentle is called Almond Cleansing Lotion.

Avatar m tn Thing is, i know that I will need to keep applying it on a regular basis or else my acne prone skin breaks out sooner or later. The key is to find a regimen that works for you to keep acne at bay, instead of treating it when it appears and then letting it go and then breaking out again-only to repeat the cycle. Drinking lots of water does help a lot too. I also go for steam cleansing once in a while to clean my pores. Another thing that works beautifully for me are chemical peels.

Avatar n tn If you do this on dry skin, all you get is greasy dry skin. Fragrance free products are less likely to irritate the skin. Also, things with dimethicone can help protect and soothe the skin a little more. Eucerin (or its generic) might be a good place to start looking. An excellent product is Rosaliac micellar gel by La Roche-Posay which is for skin prone to redness. Metrogel is quite strong. It is normal to have an initial outbreak but if your skin does not start to improve or you feel you are having a bad reaction, speek to your doctor about changing products.
