Avatar f tn I had woken up one day and had found that I my eye was slightly red then I noticed that I had half a white ring around the iris of one of my eye I started using anti allergy eye drops without any consultation it went off after a few day but is back again with a slight pinkness in the same eye
Avatar n tn Terramycin is an anti-biotic. Do not use it "as needed". Anti-biotics must be used regularly for a set period of time and even then they are only effective against bacterial infections. Using it sporatically affects your cat's immune system so that is no longer effective if she does have an actual infection.
Avatar m tn Some doctors will tell us that such problems with the aging eye come in groups-eg, vitreous detachments, floaters, macular problems, retinal tears, and retinal detachments. I've been told these are 'typical' of the aging eye. We need research, but no companies have picked up on this huge problem to our daily vision. The companies that could pursue this may well be those who offer very expensive eye drops for glaucoma, for dry eye (eg, Restasis), and for macular edema.
Avatar f tn not just aging high cholesterol which a teenager can have but since its only one eye i'm not sure its the same thing but since your having multiple problems besides that i would see a eye doctor they should be able to tell you whats wrong
Avatar n tn I wear eyeglasses and have since I was a child. I recently had an eye exam 2 weeks ago and do have floaters in my right eye. The Doctor did a test to see the retina and said I had no tears in my retina. I didn't see this flash circle at the time.
Avatar n tn It often is associated with high blood levels of cholesterol but can also be an aging change in the eye. There is no treatment for it and it doesnot ever affect vision.
Avatar n tn Your GP is not accurate in stating this is part of aging. Your problems in the eye need a Eye MD ophthalmologist. I understand from many postings here it takes "forever" to see a specialist in the UK under NHS. Better start the ball rolling to try and see a strabmismus Eye MD as suggested.
Avatar f tn I’m a 41 year old female. About 10 yrs ago-random vertigo. No other sx. Unstable walking in the dark. Positive Romberg. 3 yrs ago-mild epigastric abdominal pain through to my back. Started intermittently, has become almost constant. A few attacks of increased pain going around my left side. CT, MRCP, blood tests, urine tests all normal except for mod reflux. No GERD meds or IBS meds help (no bowel symptoms) 1 yr ago (June-August) Pinched nerve in right arm. Aching shoulder.
Avatar f tn I have a daughter who was born with congential cataracts in both of her eyes, now at the age of 24 she has lost vision in her right eye and is experiencing numbness on that side of her face and some headaches. In the center of that eye she cannot see anything but on the outer rim she can see some light but its cloudy. I am afraid for her and I am afraid what ever is wrong will effect the other eye. She just had a baby girl 6mos ago and she has a 2 1/2 yr old son.
Avatar n tn Use the search feature and archives and read about PVD. The vitreous normally pulls away from the back of the eye as a normal aging change. 50% of people have it by age 50. Retinal detachment is quite rare occuring in about one in 7000-10 thousand people. I have seen traumatic PVDs causing flashing that lasts for years (tennis ball into eye).
Avatar f tn I am mid-age, female. Never had eye problems til the 40's. But early this year I went in for my yearly check up (I was seeing double traffic lights while driving. Yes, my eyes were aging as they had been for the last 10 yrs. I went to a special doctor to see if I was a candidate for lasik surgery. I was not -but the doctor said I have cataracts. The end of May 2009 I had cataract surgery. Before surgery my left eye was 20/30 Now it is 20/60. I have the ReSTOR lens in my left eye.
Avatar f tn why is my eye very swellon in hurts alot ive had this promblem b4 but it hasnt ever hurt this bad n i cant really seee
Avatar n tn Ive been noticing my friend's eyes have grayish colored areas on the scleras, mostly underneath her eyelids. There isn't much of anything too close to the iris, but you can clearly see the gray areas when she rolls her eyes around or if you look under her eyelids. I first noticed them about a month ago, and they're still there. However, she doesn't complain about any pain, vision problems, or anything like that.
Avatar n tn In any case nothing you can do slows down the effects of aging on the eye. In the very young (say less than 16) prolonged use of computer can cause myopia or myopia progression, in people of any age computer use is associated with dry eyes. There is much research on slowing or correcting presbyopia but nothing that works or is recommended.

Avatar f tn I have read those but am I not a little young to be undergoing this? And if liquefication begins now, am I guaranteed eye problems if I live to be say 80? Since most PVD does not occur until after 50?

Avatar m tn In January my joints began to pop and now 7 and half months later I'm starting to have floaters. I've had a CBC by my pcp and everything came out normal for my joints. No inflammation or pain and I'm still able to trail run 8+ miles with no problems. About two weeks ago (maybe 10 days) i started noticing floaters. I have visited two optometrists. One took care of the eye exam and the second did the dilation since I didn't have time during the initial visit.
Avatar n tn Posterior subcapsular cataracts can result from aging, steroid use, or diabetes. Long term use of steroids (especially topical eye drops or oral prednisone) can raise the eye pressure and cause glaucoma damage and cataracts.
Avatar f tn All my life I have had a lazy left eye. I never had any problems with it until very recently. It seems as if starting a few years ago this eye startd diverging away from the center. I don't understand why it started doing that-- it started happening in my mid 30s (I'm now 38) when my entire life I never had an issue with it.

Avatar n tn My eye Dr told me about 6 years ago when she did the eye drops that she noticed a discoloration in the muscles in my eye. She told me she didn't know if it was herditary or something else, but has never metioned it again. When I asked her about it last year she didn't tell me what it could be only that it was not retinal detachment and I would have to spend $70 on a test to see if it has progressed. Has anyone heard of this before?
