483818 tn?1232684772 Dear jaimeinottawa, To determine if you have anorexia, you would need a full evaluation. Visit the bella vita website and take our eating disorder survey. While you are there read on anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. Restricting to compensate for bingeing can be a form of bulimia, nonpurging type. In any event, your eating behaviors and obsession with low fat/fat free foods are eating disorder symptoms.
Avatar f tn I'm a 56 y/o female who has had a problem with binge eating since I was about 30. I can gain 20 lbs in a month no problem. Sometimes I can't stop eating, and when I'm too full to eat anymore, I can't wait to digest so I can eat more. I've been to psychiatrist's that specialize in eating disorders, OA, read every book I could find, went to counseling for years and years, and have been on every diet there is.
1207078 tn?1265825982 m glad you posted here. Unfortunately binge eating and anorexia are like different sides of the same coin. You have an eating disorder. The good news is you CAN become a "normal teenage girl" and get recovery from your eating disorder. The problem though is it's not something that can be achieved easily with "tips" or "tricks". Eating disorders are complicated and have many causes.
Avatar f tn I have never had anorexia but a good friend of mine did and she went through the same problem of becoming a binge eater after recovering from anorexia. One thing I want you to remember is that both anorexia and binge eating are eating disorders. One is not better then the other and both can take a toll on your health. Your weight seems to actually be pretty healthy for your height but if you are unhappy because your weight gain is not through healthy ways, I can understand your concern.
Avatar f tn For the past month I have been throwing up after breakfast and dinner. On purpose. It has become a habit and I can't stop, I am losing weight but I have never eaten large amounts like binge eating. I eat so I can't be anorexic and I don't binge eat so I can't be bulimic. Is this a disorder?

785277 tn?1244324809 There are other major health issues that need to be addressed as well. I suggest you post in the Anorexia/Bulimia/Binge Eating section in the Ask a Doctor forum to find out more. Sorry I don't particularly deal with it in terms of overall health.

Avatar f tn Dear MinneG, Since your question is weight related, (even though you are not dealing with Anorexia) you are more likely to get a more appropriate response by posting your question on the "Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating (Expert Forum)" of this website.
Avatar f tn Since I was seven years old I have been binge eating, then around the age of 15/16 I became anorexic. After pressure to eat from the doctors and my family, I began to switch towards the more bulimic side of things. First of all I was just purging meals but then I began to binge. Since then I've gone through periods of anorexia then bulimia both accompanied with excessive exercise.
Avatar f tn Though technically, part of the clinical diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa is losing 15 percent or more of what your normal body weight should be, you do not need to be super thin in order to have an eating disorder. Most of what an eating disorder, such as Anorexia, consists of is the emotional/mental aspect.. being scared of gaining weight, thinking you're fat when you really are healthy, starving yourself or severely limiting food quantity or types of foods, etc.
3058654 tn?1340500646 I no longer exercise but I still go back and forth between binge eating and hardly eating. I have a couple of mental disorders already that I am aware of such as agoraphobia, ocd, and possibly avoidant personality disorder. Sometimes I think I have body dysmorphic disorder as well but this is not something I have discussed with my doctor. He did ask me if I may have anorexia I just said no I don't like dealing with my problems.
6811971 tn?1385557755 I suffered from Anorexia for six years of my life and have been recovered for twelve years now. For me, I experienced some gas and bloating. This can be quite stressful as it makes one feel full and gaining weight. I found that mixing some natural ginger in a tea or water helped. Also, digestion was a little slow for me. To help that along, I used papaya and pineapple. They both contain digestive enzymes called papain and bromelain respectively.

Avatar f tn Recently i suffered from anorexia nervosa with then developed into me binge eating which then ended in bulimia nervosa. I am aware of what is happening to me, but as it has happened in a short space of time (2years) i feel a little lost. I live in the UK and it is extremly hard to get help as docotors do not see me as underweight. But everyone knows that there is something wrong.
Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Teenage years are tough, and it is more difficult when you already think about food and body image in a disordered way. Glad to hear you are eating, but over-eating is also disordered eating, so be cautious. Anorexia can lead to binge/purge behavior because you're swinging from one extreme to the other. It would be best if you could talk to a nutritionist who can put you on a healthy diet until you feel more comfortable taking the reigns.

Avatar m tn Hi about three or so years ago I went through a long period of anorexia nervosa, I was checking labels, eating barely any fat foods, always feeling terrible if i aint something unhealthy, and on top of that running 10 miles and working out every day because I thought i was fat. Once then period ended, I immediately began to binge eat at every meal, and would get incredibly bloated and distended (pregnant).
1341830 tn?1276119609 I've been a binge eater since about second or third grade. Right now I'm gonna turn 30 November and I have two kids under the age of 4. I am 5'3 and weigh about 245 pounds. I can exercise but it's my binge eating that has me worried. I really feel like I cannot control it. If I do try to control myself and not eat...I can't stop thinking about it. I'll think about it till I can't take it anymore and I'll give in and eat. My eating habbits absolutely horrify me.
