Avatar f tn Well you're suppose to gain weight. You can't stop it. Not everyone gains weight. But as long as you're eating healthy and exercising then the weight you're gaining the baby needs and will most likely all drop off after birth.
Avatar f tn Don't worry, weight gain can be a sign that you are recovering! I gained 15 lbs in the beginning of my recovery from bulimia and then as I started eating meals and snacks regularly (that I figured out with my nutritionists help) and stopped using bulimic symptoms my weight balanced out to my body's needs.
6811971 tn?1385557755 I have recovered from both Anorexia and Bulimia and like yourself I struggle with bloating, and find myself often mistaking the bloating as weight gain. Wow! We are two positive people for this site. Yes everybody. YOU CAN RECOVER FROM AN EATING DISORDER. I had Anorexia aged 16-18, and Bulimia age 18-32. I am now 38 and the idea of being sick is yuck! The thought of overdosing on laxatives is something I wouldn't dream off now.

Avatar f tn I'm a 16 year old female and I am barely ever hungry. I do feel hunger only in the morning and around 2-3 hours after I eat breakfast. I usually eat two handfuls of cereal with milk. When it comes to dinner, I'll take a few bites and I'll immediately feel full and nauseous. However I can eat a lot of sweets and salty things like crisps without a problem. A doctor told me that this is anorexia but I don't want to lose weight or feel bad about my body or anything like that.

5061022 tn?1363018223 I have recently removed myself from my fitness pal and tumblr because it is an ED breading ground! It is where I would go to get tips and encouragement. I am trying to get away from doing it as I have had it under control for the past year and it was recently triggered again in January. I have been dealing with it since the 8th grade and I am now a college junior....its a constant battle and I hate it....I am trying so hard right now to fight losing weight the right way....
Avatar n tn Don't know what 7stone is, but yes I agree with angelica. If you are below that, yes you can get some serious problems from being underweight -- malnourishment, which can cause anemia, vitamin deficiencies, which can affect your heart and your reproductive organs. If you have a problem with anorexia you can die from complications because left untreated it will affect your internal organs.
Avatar f tn So I'm a 16 year old girl, about 5'5' and 110lbs. I'm on a calorie restricting diet and exercising a lot to lose weight. My family doesn't know and I can't talk to them about it due to circumstances i cannot discuss. My one friend who knows about this tells me I'm on the verge of anorexia and people at school are talking about me saying how skinny I'm getting. When people originally told me this I took it as a compliment, now I find it embarrassing.
Avatar m tn m 18 and underweight, about 120lbs as well. Some key things to remember are that it takes TIME to gain weight, and persistence. Keep consuming more calories than you expend, work out (lift weights as opposed to aerobic exercises) to stimulate muscle growth. A protein supplement may be a good idea, I use ON whey protein. Remember that alcohol hinders the liver from absorbing protein and other nutrients, and that smoking is an appetite suppressant.
Avatar f tn Some people need to^ I was very underweight and struggling with anorexia pre-pregnancy so I needed the extra weight for myself and then the pregnancy weight as well. Everyone has their reasonings and some people are actually suggested to by doctors.

1347708 tn?1276603191 I have gone from 258lbs to 106lbs in 18 months. I am now up again 3 pounds and scared stiff of the weight gain. Can someone please help me with ways to maintain my weight, i am terrified of gaining, but I do recognise I have problems. I am not asking for ways to lose more, just staying the same. Anyone?
Avatar m tn There are many causes of inability to gain weight like worms in stool, depression, anorexia nervosa, AIDS, cancers especially colon cancers, drug abuse, infections and loss of appetite. Loss of appetite can again be due to certain medications, drug abuse, depression, AIDS, acute and chronic infections, cancers and hypothyroidism. Either you do not eat well or there is increased metabolism as in hyperthyroid states, HIV, cancer etc.
Avatar f tn If you live in a developed nation, it's very unlikely with modernized medicine. I was underweight with my first. You need to talk with a doctor and find out how much weight they want you to gain, then try to meet the goal. This is for the best outcome for both baby and you. Remember baby needs you to eat. If you have a medical reason why weight gain is hard, it's even more important for you to see a doctor asap.
Avatar n tn Really depends on individual, from my experience after TT, hormone imbalance never affect my weight, my weight always stayed consistent. But for many others, weight can be an issue, some gaining to much, while others experience rapid weight loss. I know for a fact hormone imbalance can cause weight issues, but not sure the other way around.
Avatar f tn You could have gastric problems, hyperthyroidism and other medical conditions that make it nearly impossible to gain weight, especially if you are TRYING to eat a lot and failing to gain weight.
Avatar n tn Generally speaking, to lose weight calorie intake must be less than you burn with activity, and to gain weight you must take in more calories than you burn. This situation (being underweight and pregnant) is about the only time women have to work to get more calories, but to do so, find foods you like and eat a lot of them. Sometimes pregnant women lose their appetite, so this will be a very individualized thing.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm in treatment for anorexia and trying Seroquel XR 50mg to help with mood and anxiety. Really scared of the weight gain I've researched associated with it and have a strong history of hypothyroidism and diabetes in the family. Can anyone help?
