Common Questions and Answers about Anorexia symptoms person

anorexia

918035 tn?1274644533 You have many symptoms of anorexia. Anorexia is not about the food, it's about underlying issues that causes a person to go away from food. I will advise you to speak to an adult. Hopefully, you could talk to your mom or dad. You need to get some professional help and support. You need to see a medical doctor just to check on your overall medical condition and growth.
Avatar f tn I tend to be the same as leftcoastchick - doctor is the person you need, I know anorexia needs serious help and counselling but id also wonder if it is anorexia which has fairly specific symptoms and behaviours as opposed to not eating which is indeed possibly an attempt at suicide. Is the person physically ill?
918035 tn?1274644533 From what you have written in your post, I think you are still experiencing some symptoms of Anorexia. The best thing to do with this disorder is to consult a psychologist that could make counseling with you so that doctors may find the appropriate treatment to your illness.
Avatar n tn However, if the degree of anorexia is mild then usually counseling and medications help the person realize his problem and the person starts eating. In such cases force feeding is not required. However, yes, constant effort of the medical team and support of friends and relatives goes a long way in helping a person recover. However, people may agree or disagree with this line of thought and hence as I said earlier, it is a highly debatable topic. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
554703 tn?1227497870 I never had an eating disorder per say, but years ago during a hard time with my Ex-husband, I didn't eat much and when I did, I only ate things like rice and ham. I lost 39 pounds in 5 weeks and woke up one morning with my heart beating all over the place and was rushed to the ER. Long story short, I was told I was close to joining Karen Carpenter. Karen died from "heartbeat irregularities brought on by chemical (electrolyte) imbalances associated with anorexia nervosa.
Avatar f tn Anyone with a resting heart rate over 100 should be checked by a doctor, if just over 100, say even 120, I'd say in most cases it can be done on a non-emergency scheduled basis - depending on other symptoms. In your case and in the absence of any specific knowledge about anorexia I can't make a connection, but I suspect anorexia puts stress on one's body and that could be at least part of the driver for the above normal HR.
Avatar n tn When you say that she displays many symptoms of anorexia (in spite of eating three meals/day), what do you mean? What are the symptoms you are noticing?
Avatar f tn t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.
Avatar f tn To get to the point, I've had an eating disorder for a few years, since I was almost 11, and now I'm 15. It's varied from anorexia to bulimia, but these past few years its centered around binging and purging. For the past few months, I've found blood in my vomit. Its a dark brown and it resembles coffee grounds. I've also been having sharp pains in my abdominal and chest, which usually don't last long at all. Lately, though, the chest pains have been lingering.
773368 tn?1235322140 I've had anorexia for about 2 years now. I've been in and out of hospitals. This past year I've had the opportunity to recover by myself, or else I'd be going right back to the hospital. I was maintaining a "danger zone" weight for 6 months. My doctor was finally fed up and told me if I didn't gain any weight, then she'll have no choice but to put me back into a hospital. I was like, **** THAT.
Avatar f tn Yes, that is what it is. You are showing anorexic symptoms and it will only get worse. Talk to a counselor at school, your doctor, or another trusted adult and have them refer you to a therapist experienced with eating disorders. Your ED is related to how you feel about yourself and you need help working through both so you can go on to live a good life. Please do it soon.
Avatar f tn i suffered from anorexia an still have blips from time to time is this the cause of my PCOS? have i caused my infertility???
Avatar m tn It’s best not to force food down the throat of a person with anorexia. It is best to get medical help. If person eats less then protein and carbohydrate shakes can be given. Meat and vegetables can be pureed. Egg can be beaten into milk. The treatment involves various types of behavior therapies, nutritional guidance, medications to control hunger, food satiety, and exercise and yoga. Please consult a good psychologist/psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders. Take care!
Avatar f tn How many times do you have to puke yourself to be considered bulimic? Does anorexia or bulimia cause hair loss? And is there any possible way that any of this could cause my hands to shake?
Avatar f tn Anorexia is when a person starves themselves. I think you might be on the verge of anorexia. You should eat more calories and try to be fit instead of trying to be thin. Gain muscle and lose fat. Strength training will help, I think. But eat healthy and gain muscle. Gaining muscle and exercising regularly but not TOO much with help you become lean and healthy, so you can be happy. That way you can become lean and even LOOK and BE healthy.
Avatar f tn So my friend me and another girl were all kinda talking. Then my friend said that anorexic models and people who are anorexic are dumb. Then the other girl agreed that they are stupid and should eat a sandwhich. Last year I didn't eat any lunch and it was a very low point in my anorexia, and all my friends knew about it. Especially this one. I know that she knows I have anorexia. Does she think I'm stupid too? She is by no means a mean person.
Avatar f tn she wears lots of make up, tight clothes and to her any male attention she enjoys, maybe this is partly the cause? If you're still reading this could you please tell me if this is anorexia or not, because she doesn't even realise the way some people look at her like she's a walking skeleton.

Avatar n tn When children do not eat for awhile, they cry because they are hungry. Symptoms of anorexia is hair loss (lots of it), development of peach like body hair, bad teeth, emotional problems, stomach problems, heart problems, etc. She needs help. She will intitially be upset about it, but eventually she will get over it.
Avatar m tn Is she scared to gain weight? Is she obsessive about her body? If so, these are signs of anorexia nervosa. Sometimes when someone doesn't eat for a while the stomach gets smaller and a person can feel full faster. This can happen even for a person who does not show signs of or have an eating disorder. Is the reason she hasn't been eating much lately because she feels sick, or does she feel sick because she hasn't been eating much lately?
Avatar f tn Dear Meg34, You can go home. Colleges honor Anorexia as a medical withdrawal. With your current symptoms, you need support. You probably need an eating disorder treatment program: outpatient day treatment, residential treatment or possibly inpatient treatment. Go to your campus’ health center for your physical symptoms. Ask to speak with a counselor at school who has experience with eating disorders. The health center and counselor can help assist you to get the proper treatment.
