In my own case, because of a lifetime of being raped and abused, I wanted to become emaciated so that men would find me unattractive and would be sexually repulsed by me, so that they would leave me alone. I hope that by losing weight the abuse might stop.

Avatar f tn I am 14 years old, and I am developing anorexia nervosa. DO NOT starve yourself, it can lead to anorexia which I can tell you will take over your life. I understand the pressure to be pretty/perfect/thin. It is a hard thing to deal with psychologically. Try to eat health, but make sure that you are getting a health amount of calories- again, don't starve yourself. Try to exercise 20 minutes a day, and as time goes by ramp up the number of minutes you spend on moderate physical activity.

Following that realization, I recovered and have a lived a very full life. I am married with 2 children and have held successively more senior positions with a Fortune 500 company. She is only 5 feet tall, 17 years old and wieghs only 69 pounds. She was never really fat, but that is how she sees herself because of a disorder called body dysmorphia.
