Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
179856 tn?1333547362 t know anything about Portia. I had no idea she suffered from anorexia nervosa. I assumed she had anorexia - eating disorder from any cause - and that is why I assumed the anorexia resulted from her cirrhosis. Now, that I have read the gossip/Oprah stuff I lean more towards Willy's opinion.

Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a college student working on a research project on orthorexia nervosa for a Health and Illness class. I was wondering about the medical and social differences between patients with anorexia and patients with orthorexia, or if generally they are felt to be the same disease?
Avatar f tn There is also an eating disorders forum on here as well which might help, sadly I don't think youre going to get a lot of help with anorexia on the bipolar forums but its worth the question. I tend to be the same as leftcoastchick - doctor is the person you need, I know anorexia needs serious help and counselling but id also wonder if it is anorexia which has fairly specific symptoms and behaviours as opposed to not eating which is indeed possibly an attempt at suicide.
Avatar f tn long term purging has terrible effects on your body, everything from sore throats to cardiac arrest.
Avatar f tn Dear littleem, Do not blame yourself for your PCOS. Research shows that females diagnosed with anorexia nervosa had their polycystic ovary disease symptoms prior to weight loss. Their body mass index was higher when their menses stopped. In addition, their LH and estrogen levels were higher than those adolescents with anorexia only. PCOS occurs in 10% of females during reproductive age. The cause is still unknown. For more information about anorexia, visit the bella vita website. Dr.
Avatar m tn Is she scared to gain weight? Is she obsessive about her body? If so, these are signs of anorexia nervosa. Sometimes when someone doesn't eat for a while the stomach gets smaller and a person can feel full faster. This can happen even for a person who does not show signs of or have an eating disorder. Is the reason she hasn't been eating much lately because she feels sick, or does she feel sick because she hasn't been eating much lately?
Avatar m tn i take a slice of bread and put , in her eyes, to much sprinkles on it. Then she always says I had enough on my bread (I am aged 20+ :S) and she always tells me I am fat, she did that previously also with my little brother. The only diagnostic that I am currently struggling with is Insomnia. I am under a great deal of stress due to some issues with family business. I am currently not on medication and I am trying to quit smoking. Any idea on what I might be going through right now as well as any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated. Thank You! S.
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/mental-health/eating-disorders/anorexia-nervosa/mental-health-anorexia-nervosa#1. Diagnosis of eating disorders requires you to step outside of it and ask for help. The best place to start may be to have a physical and express your eating practices and concerns over your weight at that time. If your physician agrees you have an unhealth relationship with food, they may suggest the next step for help.
Avatar n tn Ok so my girlfriend has what has been classified as anorexia nervosa by her doctors that was much worse in the past than it is now. She has raised her calorie intake but she is afraid to bring it up to completely normal levels. Right now she is at a healthy body weight but she would still like to lose some pounds.
Avatar n tn I read both posts and I can only say she is in need of immediate psychiatric help. I would suggest going with her to the local mental health clinic for support. Perhaps if there are other people that know her you can enlist their help as well. If this doesn't work out she could be hospitalized just for the fact she is suicidal and injurious to herself but see if you can encourage her in a supportive manner to seek psychiatric help because it will help with her recovery.
Avatar f tn etc..you might consider counseling in the near future if you continue to have anorexia nervosa..good luck..
Avatar f tn I have suffered with tachycardia on and off for the last 20 years. I also suffered with anorexia nervosa from the same time, age of 15. In the last year, this condition has exacerbated tremendously. HR 184/5 with moderate daily activity (I am a home Mom) together with low BP. A 48 HR ECG monitor showed at night sleep my HR is close to 80. Upon waking up shoots to 126 then shoots to 184 without effort or exerting myself. Cardio advised increase sodium, magnesium and calcium intake.

Avatar m tn There are many causes like worms in stool, depression, anorexia nervosa, AIDS, cancers especially colon cancers, drug abuse, infections and loss of appetite. Loss of appetite can again be due to certain medications, drug abuse, depression, AIDS, acute and chronic infections, cancers and hypothyroidism. Either you do not eat well or there is increased metabolism as in hyperthyroid states, HIV, cancer etc.

701581 tn?1279136038 It may be the doctor in Miami felt the previous positive ANA test(s) was/were sufficient (provided that isn't one of the things that came out negative in latter testing?) There are doctors that are concerned about costs when ordering tests, so perhaps she was being judiciously frugal when it came to ANA? I think if you feel you have the symptoms of lupus, it is worth pursuing getting that re-tested- to see what comes out as two out of three- positive or negative for the illness.
