Avatar f tn Don't worry, weight gain can be a sign that you are recovering! I gained 15 lbs in the beginning of my recovery from bulimia and then as I started eating meals and snacks regularly (that I figured out with my nutritionists help) and stopped using bulimic symptoms my weight balanced out to my body's needs.
Avatar f tn why do girls with anorexia stop getting their periods ? what is the link to Kyphosis to anorexia ?
Avatar m tn It’s best not to force food down the throat of a person with anorexia. It is best to get medical help. If person eats less then protein and carbohydrate shakes can be given. Meat and vegetables can be pureed. Egg can be beaten into milk. The treatment involves various types of behavior therapies, nutritional guidance, medications to control hunger, food satiety, and exercise and yoga. Please consult a good psychologist/psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders. Take care!
1050179 tn?1253899186 Does anyone know where I can find articles that are concrete in using methadone for chronic pain? I'm on 110mg's of liquid methadone and have to go to the clinic twice a week because I have 5 take home days. But I don't want to have to go there anymore to get the medicine. - At first,I went there because I was taking percocet for my FM pain and kept having to take more and more to get the relief I needed.

612876 tn?1355514495 Alright, it's been a long time coming, but I've finally at least *started* it. I'm indexing my collection of journal articles where it's accessible to you all. Here in OUR health pages. This is going to be a labor of misery ....er, I mean LOVE. Ha! This is going to take a long time to complete, and of course as there are new journal articles coming out monthly ... NO, I don't even want to *think* about that. Let's just be happy that I embarked!!
Avatar f tn Anyone with a resting heart rate over 100 should be checked by a doctor, if just over 100, say even 120, I'd say in most cases it can be done on a non-emergency scheduled basis - depending on other symptoms. In your case and in the absence of any specific knowledge about anorexia I can't make a connection, but I suspect anorexia puts stress on one's body and that could be at least part of the driver for the above normal HR.
Avatar f tn Ran into an article in the Journal for the American Academy of Family Practitioners published this month, telling doctors that Levothyroxine is the ONLY valid treatment for hypo and to trust the TSH. I called the Academy and was transferred to the editor of the Journal and advised him of the more current articles (that I published here) conducted and published in Europe and now published by the NIH.

Avatar f tn Hypothyroidism is usually a weight gain issue not a weight loss issue. Most people find it difficult to lose weight even when excersing when hypo. Are you sure she is hypo? I know from my own personal experience I lost a ton of weight and actually was anorexic but not through starving myself, I ate like a horse! I had undiagnosed hyperthyroidism. It seems that if she had no period for all that time, it could well be hyperthyroidism.

1831849 tn?1383228392 In today's Wall Street Journal there is an article espousing the theory that eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly can help keep MS at bay. I'm a believer. Your thoughts? http://online.wsj.com/articles/exercise-diet-and-sleep-can-improve-ms-symptoms-1413218026?
644974 tn?1312758070 Are you trying to write a journal through the Journal interface or through the Tracker interface? On My MedHelp, on the Journals panel, you should see a link that says, Write a new journal entry. If you click that, you should see a form that has text boxes for Title, Journal Entry and Tags. Do you see that?

Avatar m tn html A search of pubmed reveals that none of his taurine research has ever been accepted by a peer-reviewed scientific journal--although The Journal of Family Practice did accept one of his articles about zinc and the common cold.
Avatar f tn Recently i suffered from anorexia nervosa with then developed into me binge eating which then ended in bulimia nervosa. I am aware of what is happening to me, but as it has happened in a short space of time (2years) i feel a little lost. I live in the UK and it is extremly hard to get help as docotors do not see me as underweight. But everyone knows that there is something wrong.
Avatar m tn I checked out the abstracts of the articles written by the first author, Dr. William A. Maxwell. Given the topics chosen, the study's designs, and the statistics used, I'd bet my next paycheck that Dr. Maxwell is a paid consultant for Alcon. If this is indeed true, then Alcon is undoubtedly paying the doctor big bucks (probably more than six figures annually) to design and carry out research which will make their IOLs (especially the "premium" ones) look good.
Avatar n tn The way that I usually find physicians for posters in cities/states other than my own is to get a list of likely candidates and cold call their offices and flat-out ask about their knowledge/experience with dysautonomia and their willingness to take on a dysauto patient and address the unique concerns this will entail. Are these two hospitals the main ones for high-risk deliveries in Chicago (I'm just going by what the internet is showing me so I could be off or missing something)?
