Common Questions and Answers about Anorexia in children symptoms

anorexia

Avatar f tn I have friends and family that I love, that love me. They all know about the anorexia since its visible but the drug stuff, only my friends know about. If my family knew, I fear they would try to take my children from me. They're all very scared about the anorexia but frustrated that the whole "just eat please, you're thin, swear to god!" thing doesn't work. Many of my friends have had drug problems, none have ever had eating disorders that I know of.

I am grateful to find the group.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor either but have been diagnosed with anorexia, and also have symptoms of bullemia. It is possible to have both symptoms of both so yes I would go get checked out as soon as possible. Good luck.
Avatar m tn ...I can feel the pain. My chiropractor aptly describes my condition when he says I suffer from..."feelings of left side of body weakness and increased pressure in right side of head." He goes on to say my symptoms have not improved and appear to be permanent. My cousin who is a practicing doctor suggests it might be polymyalgiarheumatica. Then, another chiropractor says, I don't have near the inflammation needed for that.
Avatar f tn To get to the point, I've had an eating disorder for a few years, since I was almost 11, and now I'm 15. It's varied from anorexia to bulimia, but these past few years its centered around binging and purging. For the past few months, I've found blood in my vomit. Its a dark brown and it resembles coffee grounds. I've also been having sharp pains in my abdominal and chest, which usually don't last long at all. Lately, though, the chest pains have been lingering.
Avatar n tn I suffered from anorexia nervosa when I was 13 and 14 years old. After the 2nd hospitalization, I decided the only way to avoid relapse was to not diet at all. Following that realization, I recovered and have a lived a very full life. I am married with 2 children and have held successively more senior positions with a Fortune 500 company. Approximately a month ago, I had a very severe stomach virus that my daughter had picked up at school. Since that time, I have had absolutely no appetite.

Avatar f tn Research shows that females diagnosed with anorexia nervosa had their polycystic ovary disease symptoms prior to weight loss. Their body mass index was higher when their menses stopped. In addition, their LH and estrogen levels were higher than those adolescents with anorexia only. PCOS occurs in 10% of females during reproductive age. The cause is still unknown. Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
Avatar n tn Yes, these are all symptoms of type I diabetes in children. My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
918035 tn?1274644533 You have many symptoms of anorexia. Anorexia is not about the food, it's about underlying issues that causes a person to go away from food. I will advise you to speak to an adult. Hopefully, you could talk to your mom or dad. You need to get some professional help and support. You need to see a medical doctor just to check on your overall medical condition and growth.
Avatar f tn Anorexia can lead to many complications and I hope that you are having your daughter treated for this problem, Anorexia is not due to any type of medication but a deeper underlying problem. I would certainly doubt any connection to a breast abnormality at age 11 and I think you need to seek the advice of some sort of support group that deals with anorexia. This is a dangerous condition that can lead to death if not addressed by the proper professionals and reversed as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn Dear Meg34, You can go home. Colleges honor Anorexia as a medical withdrawal. With your current symptoms, you need support. You probably need an eating disorder treatment program: outpatient day treatment, residential treatment or possibly inpatient treatment. Go to your campus’ health center for your physical symptoms. Ask to speak with a counselor at school who has experience with eating disorders. The health center and counselor can help assist you to get the proper treatment.
Avatar f tn d say in most cases it can be done on a non-emergency scheduled basis - depending on other symptoms. In your case and in the absence of any specific knowledge about anorexia I can't make a connection, but I suspect anorexia puts stress on one's body and that could be at least part of the driver for the above normal HR.
Avatar f tn This is my professional opinion. The underlying dynamics are quite similar to what we have seen in anorexia for years. It's only in the recent years as our society has focused on pure, organic, and raw foods has this new obessive compulsive form of restriction emerged and is has now been coined orthorexia.
Avatar f tn Lol I know the feeling when it comes to sticking to things but I find it hard juggling time around 2 children. But I have invested in a sit up machine and set myself 50 to 100 a day if it helps!!
