anorexia

Avatar f tn I'm having a very tough time at college. I have been trying to recover from Anorexia for over a year. I was doing well at home. I was making my own foods and increasing my calories. I moved away for college and I want to go home. I'm doing much worse than before. I cannot make my own food since I live in a dorm and I always feel tired because I can't sleep right, my bones and joints ache, I get dizzy, urinate frequently, and feel very full after I eat anything.
Avatar n tn just support her as best you can, and it would help to see a nutritionist so she can still keep healthy eating habbits and get in to shape. also taking vitamins help allot, exspecially b vitamins they should help here metabolism function a tad bit more. she should try lifting weights, and trust me she wont get huge and bulky like she may think from lifing weights. i wish her the best.
Avatar f tn You are never "cured " from anorexia it's something that will always be there in the back of your mind, you can be in remission so to speak. I was anorexic when I was 15 1/2 until I was 18. For me I focused on eating larger helpings at meal time and would eat lots of fruits and veggies...counting calories I agree will make you start obsessing again so I wouldn't count calories. For me the eating more and actually only stepping on a scale once a month.
Avatar f tn Hey pixie0304. My son is 16 and has this issue. NOT anorexia. :>) I took my son to a nutritionist. Some tips: make it count when you do eat. So, go for a bang. If you are only going to take a few bites, try a protein bar. If you are going to drink, try almond milk. My son has been doing this in the morning. It upped his calories and he feels better. The other thing the nutritionist said is that drinking nutrition and calories can be easier for some.
1612312 tn?1324791860 , though you wouldnt really believe it to see it, I weigh about 200lbs. my lightest, at the end of my first bout with anorexia, i managed to get from 190 to under 140, which was amazing. I'm not saying the means justify the ends, but when I was skinny, my body felt more like a luxury sports car than a durable and homey suv... if that makes any sense. This first bout wasn't nearly as rigid and controlling as later on, but I did lose a lot of weight in a very small amount of time.
Avatar f tn I discovered I had anorexia in 6th grade. I didn't eat much until this year, I am now in 8th grade. I still have worries but it never stops me from eating healthily. But now I think im overeating. I have a little theory though. In 6th and 7th grade the first time of the day I would eat is when I got home. I'd then eat lots of junk food. Now in 8th grade I eat even more because I don't set up caloric limits.
Avatar n tn You need help and a nutritionist can help you get started on what foods you can eat. You also need a therapist to guide you through and a family doctor who knows what they're talking about to examine you and make sure everything is okay and going well.... I have been through the full range... I think different things work for different people. I know tube feeding NEVER worked for me and it just made me feel like a prisoner so I hope you never have to go through that!
Avatar f tn I honestly feel it's the result of your Bulimia. After you have forced yourself to vomit for so long, it becomes a normal reflex to the body to vomit after eating without any help from you. It will take some time for your body to "learn" not to do this. It would help to add yogurt enriched with probiotics which is a natural occurring bacteria found in our intestine that aids in digestion. I'm sure your system is depleted of this after all you've been thru.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
Avatar n tn I also put callogen and elastin and vitamin C and vitamin K cream, and vitamin E into my facial lotion (although it may help if I use my facial lotion every day. But I use it enough. I thought these nutrients would help applied to the skin; do they not soak into the skin? Because I'm still seeing the problem. What will make them come back up (not be sunken/indented). I don't have dark circles (because of the vitamin K and good rest, etc., just the sunken part.
Avatar f tn Sometimes after recovery your metabolism needs a little time to get back to normal and this can also cause weight gain. Following up with a nutritionist and a therapist can help you understand the causes behind this and help support you in your recovery. The Bella Vita offers free support groups Mondays at 6pm in our Los Angeles and Woodland Hills locations. If neither of those are in your area you can go check out ANAD for support groups offered near your location.

Avatar f tn I have never had anorexia but a good friend of mine did and she went through the same problem of becoming a binge eater after recovering from anorexia. One thing I want you to remember is that both anorexia and binge eating are eating disorders. One is not better then the other and both can take a toll on your health. Your weight seems to actually be pretty healthy for your height but if you are unhappy because your weight gain is not through healthy ways, I can understand your concern.
Avatar m tn Hey I've had anorexia for more of my life than not, and have spoken to many people who also have it. I'll ask you this- before you lost weight, were you depressed, abused, or have any mental illnesses (personality disorders etc)? Because what anorexia s essentially is a coping mechanism. People who suffer with mental illness or who've had lots of trauma use it as a way to feel better or numb it out or even so they're "good at at least something", stuff like that.
918035 tn?1274644533 I'm familiar with those same voices...they are the anorexia. Don't listen. You are worth so much more and you deserve to be healthy and have a good life. And I know you don't want to put more stuff on your family b/c of the death, but anorexia is serious and you need help to recover. I'm sure your family will be glad you told them. Yeah, maybe they will be mad about what you're doing to yourself, but that's just because they don't know anything about anorexia.
Avatar f tn I weigh 130 lbs and at my monthly visits to my nutritionist my blood pressure is always normal. I take 56mg of Adipex a per and 10 mg Ambien per night. I have no idea what causes these symptoms but my maternal grandmother had similar ones and she died from bone cancer. They aren't unbearable but annoying.

Avatar n tn I started anorexia recovery 6 days ago. I'm 15 years old, female, 5"3-5"4, sedentary, only exercise I get is going to school. Every since my first day of recovery, I have been binge eating really really bad. I binge on sweets, carbs, and some salty foods. I can't stop, it makes me so frustrated that I start crying and it really makes me want to relapse.
