Avatar m tn know what to do about him, because he has like, no muscle mass left on him! He says he is experiencing aches and pains all over, and he is blind in hsi left eye, and has had surgery to move the muscle so that his eye looks the right way, because it crossed inward before. But I have heard this happens to other people as well. It is dizziness/vision blacking out, and last time the searing pain brought him to his knees. And he said last time that the pain was in his right eye.
766752 tn?1234946743 The facts are you get a “bad sickey feeling” and “acidey feeling”. You body does not feel good. If these physical symptoms continue, please see your medical doctor. For more information on eating disorders, physical complications and treatment, visit the bella vita website.
Avatar n tn I am steadily putting on weight, despite running a pretty careful diet ( I am expat UK living in Portugal).and that doesnt help. Exercising is almost impossible, due to the angina pains. Yes I am aware of ablations (My first electrocardio suggested AV node ablation and pacemaker, 9 years ago !!!!!! ) I saw that as a one way ticket and always hoped that the drug guys would come up with something for the AF, but not to date.
1490709 tn?1302864588 d like another opinion please as I feel I should get my HDL up and my LDL down?? My father and my brother both had heart disease and I want to avoid fatty arteries if I possibly can. My HDL was 1.7 LDL was 3.08 Triglycerides were 0.84 Total cholesterol was 5.17. I don't really understand if these figures are "normal" or what as they fall a bit outside of the actual guideline levels so can anyone on here from UK please advise me? Does age play a part or not?
179856 tn?1333547362 I was just reading about Portia DeRossi's anorexia and it says when she was down to 82 pounds she "was told she was suffering from a handful of serious conditions: osteoporosis, organ failure, cirrhosis of the liver and the auto-immune disease lupus." how would anorexia cause cirrhosis does anybody know? I'm just curious because I never heard of that before and was wondering how it was related.
Avatar f tn It was so painful that I could not use this arm and it felt extremely sore and weak thereafter and then it was fine by the by the next day . l I do not know if the two are connected???? I had not done any strenuous exercise besides hanging up washing and ironing that day. I know that I have premature P waves by 1.8. I have prolonged or no QRS waves (just shows a base line). I have an AV Block second degree Mobitz type 1. I am on Isoptin 40mg x 3 per day.
1542723 tn?1294447438 On these forums I keep seeing Cholesterol figures ( US ) which clearly could not be same as in UK. Guess will need a converter.

Avatar f tn CNN ran this story and had the "facts" slightly "embellished". I can't remember what percentage rate they said, but it was different. The definately said that the rate hasn't been this high in 18 years.... So, depending on where you get your news, and whether you are an optimist or a pessimist, you can certainly find an answer in there somewhere to fit your needs..... Truth.... real figures. That's all anyone in this country wants....
Avatar f tn There’s much more in the CBO’s new figures, and we may have more to say about them in the future. And we offer no opinion on whether taxes are too high or too low, or just right. That’s a matter of intense national debate. But Congress must act soon on taxes, or allow a large increase to take effect automatically.
Avatar f tn That is so tragic, here in the UK we don't have the rapid flu test (at least not that i know of). Our NHS - in England anyway - is starting a phoneline today, manned by NON MEDICS (you can see what I think of that!). People will be able to phone and say what their symptoms are and get a diagnosis over the phone. They will be given a unique code number to collect Tami-Flu. This is so open to mis-use but I realise that some of the strain has to be taken off doctors.
Avatar f tn I viewed my daughters diagnosis as being the first day of the rest of our lives, and we view life as a tool to learn, the internet is amazing for researching facts and figures, but the best way of finding out is to meet an adult wth the same condition, the information they can give to parents is the most valuble way of learning I know.
Avatar m tn How does one find surgeons with those figures? I don’t see anybody quoting them online. [I live in Northern Ireland; UK or Ireland, even Europe, is ok]. How about long-term absorbable mesh, with long-term absorbable sutures or fibrin glue for fixing the mesh? I’m thinking that if I’m unlucky enough to get chronic pain, maybe it will go in ~3 years, as they dissolve.
1247613 tn?1268785691 I live in Japan, and it is hard for me to get certain health care or prescriptions. My mother sends me my old prescriptions from the states, I am currently taking minocycline and budeprion xl, and last year, I had a kidney infection due to serious dehydration from anorexia. I've recovered from anorexia and have not had kidney problems since, but recently, I've had serious insomnia and anxiety/fear due to the idea that I may get that kidney infection again.
Avatar f tn I am currently medically stable but have been struggling for three years with hypothyroid symptoms( constant fatigue, brain fog, cold hands, slow motor skill, anxiety and depression worse, and a couple other symptoms) despite my bmi being normal, and proper nutrition. I am currently on thyroid meds but the only result is that my tsh is very low. Other wise I am still feeling the same and some symptoms are worse.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Please allow me to throw some figures to to put your anxiety in context. These are figures from 2008 and are of course are open to your own interpretation In the UK in 2008 there was approximately 950,000 HIV tests carried in sexual health clinics. Of those 950,000 tests 7298 tested positive. In percentage terms that is 0.768 %. In other words of all the people that were tested in the UK, in 2008 for HIV approx 0.7% actually came back positive. The other 99.3% were negative.
Avatar m tn About 20% of American adults have HSV-2 and of these, most do not know it. Thus there is a small chance that any sexual encounter with a person who has ever had sex before could be with an infected partner. BUT, the chance of transmission at any single act of intercourse with an infected partner is less than 1 in 1,000 and, if the partner is asymptomatic, is probably less than 1 in 10,000 - this is a very small chance.

Avatar f tn Hi Folks: I am praying and hoping that someone in this Forum (or another - I will post my "case study" in a few places with the hope of getting an answer or some suggestions) can help me figure out what is wrong with me. To date I have seen at least 13 (THIRTEEN) doctors and none of them can give me a solid diagnosis - and meanwhile, I am still symptomatic of SOMETHING, and don't know what to do. So here's the facts. Current Medical Status: 1.
Avatar f tn Almost double figures. I cant wait till she's here. Who else is an august mummy, and where are you from.
6749350 tn?1401980405 Found this little piece about Fibroscan Fibroscan is a non-invasive test using a sound wave to measure the elasticity of the liver and is being used more and more in the UK. As damage to the liver increases, so it becomes stiffer. The stiffer or less elastic the liver, the faster the sound wave travels. The Fibroscan has been shown to be accurate in measuring little or no damage and in measuring cirrhosis. It has been less accurate at distinguishing intermediate degrees of fibrosis.
