I am about to start taking kelp pills, and was wondering what the risk or dangers would be to me. And are there any side effects to just taking them on thier own? I am just considering the dangers before i proceed with the pills. Any advice would be brilliant and much appreciated. Thanks.

Ethacrynic acid has the listed side effects of possibly causing GI irritation, diarrhea, anorexia, abdominal pain, and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) but does say how frequent these side effects are but side effects are usually mild and not very common (usually less than 10%). Lasix (Furosemide) has the listed side effects of possibly causing anorexia, constipation, cramping, diarrhea, nausea, oral and gastric irritation, and vomiting and again does not list the frequency.

I'm familiar with those same voices...they are the anorexia. Don't listen. You are worth so much more and you deserve to be healthy and have a good life. And I know you don't want to put more stuff on your family b/c of the death, but anorexia is serious and you need help to recover. I'm sure your family will be glad you told them. Yeah, maybe they will be mad about what you're doing to yourself, but that's just because they don't know anything about anorexia.

Also make sure and check the side effects of any medications you might be on. Some medications especially anti-depressants have sexual side effects. Good luck!

What you are experiencing could be due to your anorexia, as it can cause peripheral neuropathy, vitamin B12 deficientcy etc so it would be worth discussing this with your doctor. Cheers..........

I think it is very much important for you to receive treatment for your Anorexia because it is very very hard to do it on your own. Please talk to your family doctor and get a referral to a therapist specializing in eating disorders. You don't have to struggle with this alone.

I feel my family is in a holding pattern and I cannot firgure out how to help her. I am willing to do family counseling, residency or whatever it takes to help get her relief from the pain of this disease. I started reading about the pituitary gland and cortisol production, ACTH and other potential solutions and just feel like I'm starting to consider any path as a possible solution which is, of course, confusing. he went trhu anorexia too,but he got over it on time i guess...their mom has a lot to do about their illnes,she's bipolar,schizoprenia,anxiety,anorexia,bolimia.... by the time i wanted to separete from her,it was too late,i dont know if they had gotten sick if she was not around,but i can't risk to loose my kids... i have to get my own place and get ready for my kids to come back...........thanks for any info on books or sites where i can get info...thanks .....

Yes...blood and rays were done one week ago ..all negative . We have tried all foods... chicken. .tuna...roast beef...even canned from the vet; nothing. Under side effects Baytril says "anorexia" side effects . Just need to find that one ingredient to get here turned.

So I'm a 16 year old girl, about 5'5' and 110lbs. I'm on a calorie restricting diet and exercising a lot to lose weight. My family doesn't know and I can't talk to them about it due to circumstances i cannot discuss. My one friend who knows about this tells me I'm on the verge of anorexia and people at school are talking about me saying how skinny I'm getting. When people originally told me this I took it as a compliment, now I find it embarrassing.

I think I will finally work up the courage to have a conversation with her family about my concern, and hopefully find out what is going on in terms of treatment. It's all so confusing. t help but respond to this post after I have been watching documentaries on a French model that suffered for years with anorexia. She recently passed away back in December but was an advocate against anorexia. Her body was so traumatized that it began to physically take its toll on her, her body got to the point where it was so malnutritioned she couldn't even repair the damage. I'm wondering if anyone else has had severe problems with appetite and eating from anxiety. For the past six months at least, possibly longer I hardly eat and I don't do it on purpose. It's just that I either don't feel hungry or I'll take a few bites of food and what I'm eating either becomes suddenly unappealing, my stomach starts to hurt or I'll get nauseous. There are times when I actually start getting anxiety from eating!
