Avatar f tn Dear littleem, Do not blame yourself for your PCOS. Research shows that females diagnosed with anorexia nervosa had their polycystic ovary disease symptoms prior to weight loss. Their body mass index was higher when their menses stopped. In addition, their LH and estrogen levels were higher than those adolescents with anorexia only. PCOS occurs in 10% of females during reproductive age. The cause is still unknown. For more information about anorexia, visit the bella vita website. Dr.

He is 15 years old and he has been struggling with this eating disorder for a few months now, probably 6 or so. I also have struggled with this disorder myself, but I'm over it now. I just dont' know what to do about him, because he has like, no muscle mass left on him!
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
Avatar f tn If your blood tests are fine, you don't feel nauseous, sick or dizzy, and you are developing normally, I don't see the reason why you would eat more and force yourself to eat (unless you're eating below 1000 calories a day). And no, it's not anorexia. Anorexia is a mental disease. Try counting calories and keeping the intake above 1200 calories, that's perfectly enough. If struggling, try taking vitamin b complex- it makes you hungry. I hope it helped.
Avatar f tn If there is more hair loss than this, the first cause we look at is diet. It has been long known that anorexia causes hair loss. Your 400 calories on alternate days is flirting with an anorexia-like diet and is most likely stressing your body. Rather than cut your long locks, look to have a balanced diet each and every day. Good luck.

Avatar n tn Dear ny77, Your inconsistent eating triggered by anxiety and stress can be one cause that precipitates anorexia. Other possible causes could be a loss of a loved one relationally or by death, physical illness, life transition (e.g., going away to college), sport involvement which focuses on physical appearance or emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Avatar f tn Other causes of cold extremities with bluish discoloration are hypothyroidism, anorexia, Addison’s disease, adrenal causes like pheochromocytoma, anemia, Buerger’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome and Raynaud’s disease. Raynaud’s disease is a disease of the blood vessels in which blood can't get to the surface of the skin and the affected areas turn white and blue. Please discuss these possibilities with her doctor. Avatar m tn Hello. I'm new and terrified for a friend who says she's been diagnosed with Lyme disease. At first, I had no reason to believe otherwise. However, I'm not sure now. She has lost an extreme amount of weight. A couple of years ago when this all began, she was losing weight quickly and couldn't eat anything unless it was pureed. Without going into all the details, she presented all the signs of anorexia and still does.
