785277 tn?1244324809 m not going to be looking at any professional help anytime soon. Anyone have any tips on sticking to one routine? I know both anorexia and bulimia are bad independently, but having both of them together has got to be worse on the body, right?
Avatar f tn I'm 14 and i've been suffering from Anorexia & Bulimia for a little over a year now. As much as i don't like eating, due to the disorders, i still wanna keep as healthy as i can. I do eat things i think are safe at times that appeal to me..i was wondering if there are any healthy low calorie foods you recommend? The more food i feel comfortable eating the more i will recover.
Avatar f tn How many times do you have to puke yourself to be considered bulimic? Does anorexia or bulimia cause hair loss? And is there any possible way that any of this could cause my hands to shake?
554703 tn?1227497870 I never had an eating disorder per say, but years ago during a hard time with my Ex-husband, I didn't eat much and when I did, I only ate things like rice and ham. I lost 39 pounds in 5 weeks and woke up one morning with my heart beating all over the place and was rushed to the ER. Long story short, I was told I was close to joining Karen Carpenter. Karen died from "heartbeat irregularities brought on by chemical (electrolyte) imbalances associated with anorexia nervosa.
785277 tn?1244324809 More importantly however is addressing the issue of anorexia and bulimia. There are other major health issues that need to be addressed as well. I suggest you post in the Anorexia/Bulimia/Binge Eating section in the Ask a Doctor forum to find out more. Sorry I don't particularly deal with it in terms of overall health.
Avatar f tn I've had an eating disorder for a long time now. Since I was seven years old I have been binge eating, then around the age of 15/16 I became anorexic. After pressure to eat from the doctors and my family, I began to switch towards the more bulimic side of things. First of all I was just purging meals but then I began to binge. Since then I've gone through periods of anorexia then bulimia both accompanied with excessive exercise.

Avatar n tn I've been trying to find out how long someone can live with anorexia/bulimia, but can't find anything. I guess it really depends on the individual, but there's not even a range given. Any ideas? A little background: I've had anorexia for 14 years and bulimia for 2. I've been very fortunate in not having any serious medical complications, however in the last 3 years my eating disorder has become my entire life.
Avatar f tn I myself have an eating disorder. I have gone from anorexia to Bulimia to now Binge eating. I really dont know why I do it but I know I dont think highly of myself and that is the key. I dont know how to love myself, it has been the hardest thing for me to deal with and I think just talking to a someone who knows how to deal with eating disorders is your best bet. Dont wait get help before you really do have a serious problem.
Avatar f tn To ask, and please know this is an anonymous forum, but do you have any eating disorder issues such as anorexia or bulimia? Are you on a special diet? Just asking for what additional influences on your numbers there could be. Slightly high ketones could mean you missed your insulin shot. How is that going? But you would be in the really high range it sounds at 4.2 and that really requires immediate medical guidance. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if her doctors have considered issues like bulimia/ anorexia in her. Other than this issues that may need to be considered are recurrent infections, food allergies/ intolerance, parasitic infestations etc. Without a clinical evaluation it would be inappropriate on my side to comment further. I would suggest a detailed evaluation by a gastroenterologist for the above mentioned possibilities. After a cause is diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn Im a 23 year old female, Im a social worker (so yes this is a very difficult situation) I have been diagnosed with anorexia/bulimia, OCD and depression-for approx 1 year now. Avatar f tn Dear MinneG, Since your question is weight related, (even though you are not dealing with Anorexia) you are more likely to get a more appropriate response by posting your question on the "Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating (Expert Forum)" of this website.

Avatar f tn You have to be at your breaking point. Anorexia and Bulimia are diseases, just like an alcoholic. It is an imbalance, absolutely. I am a recovering anorexic. I am actually 6 weeks out of treatment. I don't know where you live but here are my suggestions. Get into an eating disorder anonymous meeting. This way you don't have to this completely alone. They're every where. Just look online.
Avatar f tn To get to the point, I've had an eating disorder for a few years, since I was almost 11, and now I'm 15. It's varied from anorexia to bulimia, but these past few years its centered around binging and purging. For the past few months, I've found blood in my vomit. Its a dark brown and it resembles coffee grounds. I've also been having sharp pains in my abdominal and chest, which usually don't last long at all. Lately, though, the chest pains have been lingering.
Avatar f tn Diabetes and Bulimia are a deadly duo, To say "As per I knew there is no relation between bulimia for diabetes." is incorrect. This link http://tinyurl.com/6x93zv produced 1,510,000 hits on the subject. As you review each thread you'll see lots of distinct relationships between bulimia and diabetes.
Avatar f tn Hi, I read your post, and I'm not a Dr but I am a nurse and my stepdaughter has bulimia and I am a compulsive over-eater. I does sound like you could have bulimia, but I would advise you to see a Dr to be properly diagnosed.
Avatar f tn I have been working on recovering from bulimia/anorexia, which I've suffered from for 15 years, and I have been in numerous treatments both in and out patient. I no longer suffer with anorexia but still have issues with bulimia but have improved immensely in many ways. However, I do still binge/purge once a day but do not allow myself to do it more than that on any day.
1106321 tn?1258580667 hi, my 12 year old son was diagnosed with anorexia, bulimia and bipolar, currently hes under state custody due to all hospital and clinics stays over the last year, including 8-10 weeks at dallas child. hosp..... every time he came home he will start all over again...so now im geting ready for him to come back, maybe by end of jan. 2010, but i feel that im not ready, that i have to do more research andget ppl from my fam.
Avatar f tn It begins to become a habit and soon, when you are recovering from anorexia and bulimia (if you started throwing up) you would hardly be able to keep your food down at every meal. At 90 pounds, you are close to dying. If you start throwing up you can rupture your esophagus and possibly an organ, bleeding to death internally. It sounds like your combined anorexia and self harm is a form of seeking control. Although I can always be wrong, it's likely a main cause.
