Avatar m tn The neuroglycopenic symptoms usually include lethargy and malaise, but may include unresponsiveness or seizures. The principal symptoms of ketosis are anorexia, abdominal discomfort, and nausea, sometimes progressing to vomiting. If severe, parents usually take the child to a local emergency department, where blood is drawn. The glucose is usually found to be between 35 and 60 mg/dl (1.8-3.1 mMol/L).

179856 tn?1333547362 I was just reading about Portia DeRossi's anorexia and it says when she was down to 82 pounds she "was told she was suffering from a handful of serious conditions: osteoporosis, organ failure, cirrhosis of the liver and the auto-immune disease lupus." how would anorexia cause cirrhosis does anybody know? I'm just curious because I never heard of that before and was wondering how it was related.

873325 tn?1295461896 Your poor little girl. I looked this up and her symptoms do fit the diagnosis. Lack of carbohydrates play a big part. Has she been seen by a pediatric endocrinologist? Avatar f tn I am currently medically stable but have been struggling for three years with hypothyroid symptoms( constant fatigue, brain fog, cold hands, slow motor skill, anxiety and depression worse, and a couple other symptoms) despite my bmi being normal, and proper nutrition. I am currently on thyroid meds but the only result is that my tsh is very low. Other wise I am still feeling the same and some symptoms are worse.
Avatar m tn know what to do about him, because he has like, no muscle mass left on him! He says he is experiencing aches and pains all over, and he is blind in hsi left eye, and has had surgery to move the muscle so that his eye looks the right way, because it crossed inward before. But I have heard this happens to other people as well. It is dizziness/vision blacking out, and last time the searing pain brought him to his knees. And he said last time that the pain was in his right eye.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar n tn well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.

Its not worth all the pain and suffering, I will tell you that right now. I have spent over 35,000 on my teeth over the years. Avatar f tn first of all your periods stop because you are starving your body, and messing up all your hormone levels and plus you have no body fat. i have had an ed for almost 12 years and i didnt get my period i think till i was 18 it is not healthy to do. i have tremendous amounts of knowledge of this disease and if you ever need someone to talk to please just leave a message for me.
Avatar f tn t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.

1158511 tn?1262554942 At 5'4" and 87.4 pounds, your body weight would qualify for anorexia. Low body weight is one of the criteria for anorexia. By visiting the bella vita website you could take our free eating disorder survey and also read more about anorexia to help you understand more.
Avatar n tn Have you had a glucose tolerance test to see if your body produces too much insulin as a reaction when you eat? This is a different test from having a simple blood sugar test -- you must drink a sugary solution and blood is drawn several times to see how your body is reacting. Unfortunately, when people have what is called REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA (when the body reacts by over-producing insulin, which causes hypoglycemia), it can be difficult to show in a test.
