785277 tn?1244324809 How long would someone have Bulimarexia (cycles of anorexia followed by cycles of bulimia) until they start to have teeth problems? What kind of teeth problems happen other than decay, and is there anything I can do to lessen the strain on the teeth?
554703 tn?1227497870 t eat much and when I did, I only ate things like rice and ham. I lost 39 pounds in 5 weeks and woke up one morning with my heart beating all over the place and was rushed to the ER. Long story short, I was told I was close to joining Karen Carpenter. Karen died from "heartbeat irregularities brought on by chemical (electrolyte) imbalances associated with anorexia nervosa." I never did that again.
179856 tn?1333547362 I was just reading about Portia DeRossi's anorexia and it says when she was down to 82 pounds she "was told she was suffering from a handful of serious conditions: osteoporosis, organ failure, cirrhosis of the liver and the auto-immune disease lupus." how would anorexia cause cirrhosis does anybody know? I'm just curious because I never heard of that before and was wondering how it was related.
Avatar f tn First of, I tend to have bad eating habits. When I was younger I was dignosed with EDNOS, and then with anorexia. I would starve myself and purge what I did eat, and I would also abuse laxatives. Lately I have been having those problems again. I'm sure that all isn't helping my other problems. I am constinpated, all the time. Without laxatives, I maybe move my bowls once a week, sometimes longer.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
Avatar n tn This could be due to postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis or compression of cervical spinal nerves. All these cause dizziness when you get up from lying down position or when you change position that results in a change in the level of your head. Cervical spondylitis and ear problems also cause dizziness on changing the position of the neck. It is difficult to comment without examination.
Avatar m tn It is not typically a gastro issue and has psychological aspects to it, where the vomiting and diarrhoea can be self induced. These are important diagnoses to be ruled out. Gastroparesisis may present with nausea vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating etc. However the symptom of diarrhea may indicate an alternative diagnosis.
Avatar m tn My HR usually is around 58-71 when resting during the day but sometimes goes as low as 51 or 52. However at night and in the mornings it drops to around 45 to 55. When I am asleep it has periods where it drops anywhere to between 19-31 bpm and then spiking immediately to anywhere between 206-227 bpm. Is this normal? What's going on? The only answer I could find was sleep apnea, which would make sense because I do wake up gasping for breathe often, but I just don't know.
Avatar n tn If you are below that, yes you can get some serious problems from being underweight -- malnourishment, which can cause anemia, vitamin deficiencies, which can affect your heart and your reproductive organs. If you have a problem with anorexia you can die from complications because left untreated it will affect your internal organs. If it isn't anorexia and you can't gain weight you need to see a gastroenterologist to see if you may have a malabsorption issue or some other issue.
Avatar n tn sent me for an ekg the findings showed rapid heart beat and an enlarged upper chamber and have been referred to a cardiologist. neither dr. knows of my bulimia. what is going on with my heart? What should I expect to happen and am i at risk of surgery or death?
Avatar m tn know what to do about him, because he has like, no muscle mass left on him! He says he is experiencing aches and pains all over, and he is blind in hsi left eye, and has had surgery to move the muscle so that his eye looks the right way, because it crossed inward before. But I have heard this happens to other people as well. It is dizziness/vision blacking out, and last time the searing pain brought him to his knees. And he said last time that the pain was in his right eye.

Avatar n tn Even more recently I have started experiencing a feeling like my heart is fluttering in my chest, accompanied by difficulty getting a deep enough breath and then followed by a feeling like my heart is racing. Im concerned that because of my eating disorder I could potentially be near to having a heart attack. Is this something I should be worried about? Or am i just overreacting?
Avatar n tn I'm a 27-year-old female and I "recovered" from severe anorexia after in-patient treatment in 2005. I'm 5'3" tall and weighed in the low 70s before treatment. After treatment, I was eating about 1850 calories a day and weighed just under 100 pounds (still low, I know). I continued eating about that much and exercised a bit more (but not much), and by spring 2006, my weight had dropped for some unknown reason to about 83 pounds. I was secretly pleased but disturbed.
Avatar m tn I am anorexic and I weigh 40 kegs and I’m concerned I have heart failure - I have been having shortness of breath when lying down and things like that. However I’ve been to the hospital and had a chest X-ray an ecg and the doctor said my lungs are clear so I’m not sure what this is. Please help ? Thanks.
1017480 tn?1303107824 Chrst, more than the heart is involved in weeping edema. Other organs are breaking down from your anorexia and bulimia problems. If it continues the heart will and already is showing stress even though the ultra sound showed nothing wrong. I will go into some detail to explain what is happening inside your body. It is now 5 years down your path and your body has been trained to act in a certain way.
Avatar f tn I have the same problems and, I have viscerotposis /splanchnoptosis, glenard syndrome/. But this subject is taboo for doctors.

Avatar f tn It usually gets worse not better without help. Eating too little and being underweight causes damage to your organs, your heart and the electro lights balance in your blood. You'll feel tired lots and foggy. It increases depressed feelings.Being obsessed with food all day robs you of living a happy life.It consumes your whole being literally and figuratively.
Avatar f tn t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.
Avatar f tn I realize that there are tremendous problems here, and I also know in my heart that I cannot have a true, fulfilling relationship with him because he is addicted to another woman's attention. I am just concerned for him and would like to see him get into counseling, which he has just agreed to do. I'm afraid if I walk away now, he will not continue counseling. He can be intelligent, and states that I have given him reason to get help and I'm the best thing that has happened to him.
