Avatar m tn The person checking me out reckons I damaged one or both sets of ligaments running down the outside of my foot/ankle. I should rest for a few days and then start to do physio exercises she gave me to build it back up.
Avatar f tn I fell in my house 2 weeks ago, sprained my ankle and my ankle and foot are still swollen and painfull,is this usual? I go to South Africa in 5 weeks so hope to be completely recoved for my holiday. Anyone help?
Avatar m tn I was wrestling with my son and fell on his foot while he was lying down. It bent his foot outward (toes going away from the middle of the body). His pain is in the rear, outer portion of the ankle, where the CFL ligament is. Doctor asked if we're sure if his ankle rolled outward, not inward. Yes, we're sure. Why would the pain be on the outside if his foot turned outside?
Avatar n tn Two days, Friday the 13th... I rolled my ankle on another players foot playing basketball and severely injured my ankle. When the injury occurred, my foot rolled in and under my body and I heard and felt a 2 or 3 cracks and pops on the outside part of my ankle. Severe swelling and bruising began late last night just above my ankle and on my ankle down my foot. I do have pictures I've taken but don't know how to post them here. Is my only option to go to an orthopedic?
Avatar n tn If you tear tendons, the foot may never be completely the same. If it is any consolation, It took about 2 years but now my foot and ankle feel completely normal. It will probably just take time. In the mean time to reduce swelling if there is any take ibuprofen or any other NSAID once a day to reduce swelling.
Avatar f tn I twisted my ankle and one doctor says I've torn some ligaments, another one says it's a simple ankle sprain. One suggests I use a hard cast or a walking boot, another says I'm to keep off weight bearing on that foot and use crutches. I'm not sure who to trust and what treatment plan to follow. Any light you can throw on this foot would be appreciated. PS: I recently fractured the 5th metatarsal on my other (right) foot. Just mentioning it in case it's relevant in any way.
Avatar m tn Tried some slow pace walking today on the treadmill and the outside of my ankle /bottom heel area of my foot started tingling. Wondering if this is normal for a sprain. I tried looking for enough but could not find munch on outside of the ankle tingling all was about the inside of the ankle.
Avatar n tn Two days ago I fell down my stairs. The top of my foot and both sides of my ankle are swollen and bruised. Yesterday I needed crutches to get around. Today I can limp around, however, it still hurts like crazy. I don't have any medical insurance. How can I tell if it's broken or sprained. I don't have or want to spend the money to see a doctor only to get sent home with a sprained foot/ankle. Please help. I have a 2 yr old that doesnt sit down for anything. I need this to go away.
Avatar f tn I have suffered with a broken left ankle approx 20 years ago after being thrown from a horse and have had ligament reconstruction surgery to the same ankle in 2006 when 3 of my ligaments were ruptured Does anybody have the same thing? or could you enlighten me to what it could be? I haven't a clue and would have missed it if I had not been bothered by the tingling sensation as I don't really take much notice of my feet.
Avatar f tn In 2006 I fell down stairs and sprained my ankle-- torn ligaments too. Recently my ankle has swelled up again (no re-injury) and I have sharp pains across the top of my ankle when I flex my foot towards my body. I can walk on it with some pain and the swelling goes down at night or when elevated. X-rays show no break in the tib or fib... Should I treat it as a sprain and do I need to stay off of it? Possible injuries? - Talus dome fracture? - Cartilage damage?
Avatar f tn I am still in pain, i have had xrays and an mri scan on my ankle, and there is nothing showing wrong i still can not move my toes (apart from my toe next to my big toe which occasionally wiggles)) I also cannot rotate my foot/ankle. Sitting in the car really hurts. Sat on the chair other day, just leant to speak to someone and it sent pain through my heel ..I need to be able to walk as i am a postlady. I am seeing a doctor every couple weeks and am not getting a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Impingement of the ankle joint between the bones of ankle and foot is another possibility. The clue to right treatment is right diagnosis of the cause of pain. You can consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
Avatar f tn I saw my ankle surgeon a couple of weeks ago and I had just found out that I have a bone spur on the top of my right foot (the same foot and ankle that I had surgery on in April 2008). He told me to do some ankle exercises to relieve some of the pain. He didn't do anything with the bone spur yet. I go see him again October 15. My question is: Will the ankle exercises help the bone spur disappear or will I need to get surgery to remove the bone spur?
Avatar n tn Then I took a step and it happened again. Then my ankle swelled... over night the swelling went down. I sprained my ankle really bad about 5 years ago, but not recently. I play soccer about once a week. Help what could this be?
Avatar f tn I hurt my right ankle in August 2010, shoe stuck between two pavers and couldn't move, so ankle was the joint that had to give. Huge swelling immediately (size of tennis ball swelling on the outside of ankle joint), loud popping sound, thought I'd dislocasted my ankle or something. X-Ray shows ANTERIOR TALOFIBULAR LIGAMENT tear. Had physio for 9 weeks, ankle had no support during this time on physio advice. Saw Dr, as ankle not getting any better.
Avatar n tn I got in a fight with the ice last week and the ice won! My foot went one direction, but my knee went another. Just before I hit the ground, I felt and HEARD a 'pop'! My MRI report reads: "The menisci and cruciate ligaments are intact. High grade proximal medial collateral ligament sprain. The medial retinaculum is nearly completely torn from its femoral attachment. Articular cartilage ulcer at the medial patellar facet.
Avatar n tn I finally found a foot and ankle specialist that listened to me (he was my third). I used crutches off and on for those four plus year. He did surgery because he said my ligaments were chronically stretched and I had a pinched nerve due to a herniated muscle (which is common with sprains but no one ever thinks to look). I feel so much better. Don't give up keep looking for a doctor who will listen.
Avatar n tn He said that was probably something I was born with. He said he did not know what was wrong with my foot and sent me to see a foot and ankle specialist. They ordered an ultrasound to rule out blood clots and there were not any. Now the foot and ankle specialist does not know what is wrong with my foot. I am not able to walk much on my foot and I can not put my toes to the floor. When I do walk on it, I have to walk on the side of my foot because the pain is so bad.
Avatar m tn Hi, Im a very active 30 y/o male in Montreal. I recently(7 days ago) suffered a very severe ankle sprain when I rolled my right ankle over someone's foot while playing indoor soccer. I went to the emergency room, got X-rays (no fracture) and have stayed off it, RICE etc. I have only been able to get an appointment with an Orthopedists until March 27, which will be almost 20 days after the accident. All I was told is to use crutches and stay off it.
Avatar m tn I have a stinging sensation in my foot, i broke my ankle 3 months eairler and the day before it started i had been walking for a long time. The pain comes when i stand on it and it is on the sole of my foot and i want to know what has caused it and how can i stop it. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Whenever I lift my feet, including when I am walking, they hang down heavily and it feels like the Tibia? (I looked at a picture of ankle/foot anatomy and based on the diagram I assume it is the Tibia) and my feet are disconnected. It sort of feels like a bruising pain. I even have trouble rotating both of my feet. Not because of the pain (even though it does hurt) but it is hard to rotate to the front.
