Avatar m tn As of now, all my laboratory tests are within normal level except my testosterone. I’m on testosterone replacement therapy since August of 2009 but I’m afraid of the possible side effects like prostate problem. My question, is it possible if I decide to discontinue my testosterone replacement therapy? I really need your opinion.
Avatar m tn However, It has not been definitively established that the decline in testosterone seen in most aging men results in an androgen deficient state with health-related outcomes that can be improved by testosterone therapy. Hence, I’ll not recommend the same. Still, it’s good to consult an endocrinologist for the same and seek an opinion. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn Were any other androgen levels tests - LH, FSH, dhea sulfate, any testosterone levels, or SHBH? Estrogen and testosterone are related and estrogen comes from multiple sources.
Avatar f tn So ovaries develop more follicles than normal every month.Diagnostic tests are 2 hr GTT,serum androgen and testosterone levels,LH-FSH ratio, prolactin levels,TSH levels,17-hydroxyprogesterone levels and 3D ultrasound done. You should take the medicines prescribed and discuss these investigations with your doctor. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn My blood work results showed elevated testosterone(53 H total and 6.6 H free), elevated ANDROSTENEDIONE (260 NG/DL), low RBC 3.63 L), and SQUAMOUS EPI CELLS (6-10 H). Insulin was 3.1, and I showed positive ANA 1:80 homogenous and speckled. I still have on and off joint pain and feel pressure in my left eye. All my research points to either pituitary or autoimmune issues. Is it possible to have a positive ana with a tumor?
Avatar m tn I am a 23year old female and last week I was told by my OBGYN that I have VERY high testosterone for a female. My level was 246 and normal for a female should be 4-45. Should I be worried?? I got referred to a Endocrinologist.
Avatar f tn So, both ovaries are actually producing similar levels of testosterone. I also saw a medical endocrinologist (vs reproductive one) yesterday and she's running various tests to try to see if this could be Cushing's or any other endocrine/thyroid/pituitary based causes. She also mentioned possibility that perhaps my PCOS-related insulin issues might have triggered ovarian cells to shift to the testosterone production somehow.
Avatar m tn My question is, shortly after I began Testosterone Replacement Therapy and am using Androgel daily. Is this an issue that I should be concerned with in regards to the CSCR? Or is it really corticosteriods that are a problem? This a concern to me since I have noticed a significant improvment in my overall general well being since using Androgel.
393685 tn?1425812522 Think hormonal- as you are. Testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, prolactin and I'm sure there are more... There is a lady at work with chin hairs and I wish I could tell her to get it checked out.
2061409 tn?1330954895 full The sexual arousal disorder in our study population was linked to both interferon-induced depressive symptoms and serum free testosterone decline (confirming the results of studies that did not find a significant correlation between total testosterone and symptoms of hypogonadism (Christ-Crain et al. 2004b)). However, we found no direct link between sex hormone changes and depression.
Avatar f tn Feeling wired, excess hair, lean body, irregular periods and excess testosterone production all seem to point to it. Get your testosterone, free testosterone, DHEA and androsteneidione tested- they vary depending on where you are on your cycle, so ask your endo when you should get them tested.
Avatar n tn Yesterday I went to his office and he reviewed the results carefully. Luckily, I do not have PCOS. The blood work only revealed high levels of testosterone (although still within the normal range). I have noticed that my libido is usually pretty high. That does not bother me, quite the opposite :). My main problem is facial hair (upper lip, sideburns, and some chin), as well as increased body hair. I know that without it I would be a happier person.
Avatar m tn As a man ages his body produces less testosterone and androgen which may cause hot flashes. Other causes of hot flashes are infections like HIV and tuberculosis. Use of medications like Nifedipine and Calcitonin and certain antibiotics are few other causes of hot flashes. Sometimes food containing monosodium glutamate can cause hot flashes. It is advisable to consult a physician and get evaluated. A clinical examination and work up may be extremely helpful. Take care and best wishes!
Avatar f tn The hair growth or hirsuitism could be due to the higher testosterone level. The level can be high in androgen resistance, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, ovarian cancer, prolactin secreting tumors and polycystic ovary disease. However your prolactin levels are normal. Sometimes the cause cannot be found out. Check if according to the lab where it was done the testosterone level is inn normal range or not. The normal range varies from lab to lab.
Avatar n tn Were any other androgen tests run - like bio-available testosterone, estrogen, LH, FSH, dhea-sulfate or SHBG? Were any tests run on your heart to determine the skipped beats? Is that a perception, or have you worn a halter monitor to see how things are?
Avatar m tn Either in combination with LHRH analogs as first-line therapy. The anti-androgen is given to prevent tumor flare, testosterone rises after administration of LHRH analogs. Anti-androgens are also given after LHRH analogs are proven ineffective. LHRH Analogs lower the amount of testosterone made by the testicles. Treatment with these drugs is sometimes called chemical castration because they lower androgen levels just as well as orchiectomy.

Avatar m tn Having extra estrogens triggers your body to slow its production of testosterone. And the less testosterone you make, the more belly fat you accumulate and the more estrogens you have. Researchers have also targeted midriff weight as the strongest predictor of a condition called symptomatic androgen deficiency, or AD. It's marked by low libido, erectile dysfunction, osteoporosis, depressed mood, lethargy, and diminished physical performance.
Avatar f tn I am being treated with this with Hydrocortone but with this my testosterone levels is low as is my Free Androgen Index is also low. I am now on transdermal patch of testosterone to try to ignite my libido which has been non-exsistent for years. the dose of 300mg is not enough but my doctor does not want to up dosage. I would like to have a healthy sex life and my marriage is definitely suffering due to this. anyone got any answers to this for me?
Avatar n tn She has extremely high testosterone extremely low vitamin d and lesions on her brain. she is only 29. her symptoms have been excessive hair growth, alpecia, excessive weight gain in the stomach area and face. she had thousands of test done. no cysts on her ovaries, no tumors seen on an mri of her head. thyroid uptake and ct scan were normal. autoimmune tests came back normal. she has a sharp pain that radiates from the back of her head into her ear cannal and the side of her neck.
138239 tn?1239924924 What do you know about DHEA? It is a precursor hormone - so it becomes either testosterone or estrogen. It can be low for many reasons - but were any other androgen tests done as well that were off like estrogen or testosterone? If you take DHEA, you will likely raise those levels. It can have unwanted side effects in that case. Was LH or FSH tested? Any other adrenal hormones like renin, aldosterone, cortisol, ACTH tested? How were you tested for Cushing's?
Avatar f tn With men, the issue of concern is testosterone deficiency, while with women the concern is excess testosterone production. So no problem indicated there. Not sure why the doctor ran the FSH test for you at age 73. There is room to increase your thyroid med but in the absence of other symptoms I'd be hard pressed to say that an increase is what you need. By the way, what dosage of Armour are you taking daily?
