Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me what causes me to out of the blue once in a while, I get a hot feeling all over, and it is scary, like I think it is is a stroke, but a few minutes later, I am ok again, but scared that it was a bad sign that something is wrong. I asked my doc over the phone after describing the symptoms what it was, only to be told She did not know. Is there anyone here that have had this happen to them? How do I treat it if possible?
Avatar m tn Fast forward to now... I have experienced lactation (no tumors, no blood in milk, and Prolactin level was only 4 NG/ML) and chronic infections (shingles, UTIs, and yeast infections). I went to a dermatologist for severe acne and melasma on my face (dark discoloration on cheeks and forehead). My blood work results showed elevated testosterone(53 H total and 6.6 H free), elevated ANDROSTENEDIONE (260 NG/DL), low RBC 3.63 L), and SQUAMOUS EPI CELLS (6-10 H). Insulin was 3.
Avatar m tn i am a guy. but i there's a small lump in my right areola(??) sometimes it's painful when touch. do men get breast cancer? ... will the lump eventually disappear or need to be surgically removed. i appreciate any professional opinions.
Avatar f tn I am writing for a loved one who is incarcerated in a federal prison. The medical help available there is minimal and he is suffering from small itchy bumps all over his body. They are generally about 1mm in size. They itch, but are not a painful itch, as with scabies or shingles. When popped, there is white stuff that comes out, then clear liquid. Sometimes they scab. Sometimes the same bump will ooze white again. They are not clustered, and to not appear to be due to heat or reactions to food.
Avatar f tn A main underlying problem with PCOS is a hormonal imbalance. In women with PCOS, the ovaries make more androgens than normal. Androgens are male hormones that females also make. High levels of these hormones affect the development and release of eggs during ovulation. Researchers also think insulin may be linked to PCOS. Insulin is a hormone that controls the change of sugar, starches, and other food into energy for the body to use or store.
546892 tn?1214525401 I have acnes on my face and a litle on my chest and i have acne scars in both places, i was wonderin if acutaine would help my scars as well as acne? This discussion is related to Accutane-scar question.
Avatar m tn Temporary hair removal can be achieved through depilation or epilation. Drugs like androgen receptor blockers, androgen suppressing agents and 5 alpha reductase inhibitors are also used. Permanent means of hair removal by electrolysis and laser treatment are also useful. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and discuss all the pros and cons of these methods so that the best treatment for you can be decided.
Avatar n tn Stop drinking and smoking tobacco, make sure you're getting proper nutrition from real food with limited ingredients, cut down on dairy, try to get some exercise, and have sex every 1-2 days, especially when you're ovulating. After sex, try to lay with your hips elevated for 20 minutes. Also, make sure your partner isn't smoking tobacco or marijuana. Both of those are known to decrease the quality of sperm. Most importantly, don't stress about it. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Hirsutism is defined as the excessive hair growth in an androgen dependent pattern where hair growth in women is usually minimal or absent (eg: face, chest, and areolaeas) as a result of increased androgen production, increased skin sensitivity to androgens, or both.
Avatar m tn I know laser treatment would be most beneficial but cannot afford it at the moment. What can I do in the meantime to help prevent ingrown hair and pimples in the hair follicle? I also was prescribed spironolactone for the hirsitism to block the androgen receptors but I dont want to disturb K levels and get hyperkalemia. Should I worry about K levels or if a low dose is prescribed it wouldnt be a problem?
1208452 tn?1266336929 The hair growth or hirsuitism could be due to the higher testosterone level than is normal in females. The level can be high in androgen resistance, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, ovarian cancer, prolactin secreting tumors and polycystic ovary disease. You need to consult an endocrine specialist to rule out these problems. Treatment can be laser removal, hormone therapy and local creams. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.

Avatar f tn But have never conceived with any other partners in the past. Went to the dr. They say i have symptoms of pcos (facial hair and acne) they tested me and my DHEAS LEVEL and TESTOSTERONE were kinda high but all my other hormones were fine. So they started me on SPRINTEC N SPIRONPROLACTONE and i was wondering will this help or do i need to try METFORMIN OR CLOMID.... i also have a cyst on my right ovary. What is the next step for me.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 29 years old and I have suspect that I have PCOS. I was overweight/obese as a child and teenager until my early 20s. Aged 21 I started getting excess facial/bodily hair and my weight increased to its highest (can't remember what but I was a UK size 18/US size 22). Then aged 22 my periods went from being 5 days long, 3 days heavy 2 light to lasting just 3 days, none particularly heavy.
Avatar f tn HI, I suffer from severe migraines, my gyno tested my blood and have found my DHEA is really low ( 441 ng/ml) (normal values 1000-4300). The rest of hormones are in the limit for my age ( i am a 28 year old female) Prolactine: limit high 21.4 ng/ml ,estradiol 24 pg/ml (limit low), plasmatic testosterone 0.2 ng/ml ( limit low). So i was wondering what should i do??? my gyno says it would be bad if DHEA was high, but i don´t feel ok. And my headaches are driving me mad.
2061409 tn?1330954895 full The sexual arousal disorder in our study population was linked to both interferon-induced depressive symptoms and serum free testosterone decline (confirming the results of studies that did not find a significant correlation between total testosterone and symptoms of hypogonadism (Christ-Crain et al. 2004b)). However, we found no direct link between sex hormone changes and depression.
Avatar f tn I get pains(hot stabbing) in my left ovarian region...this pain runs down to about the left knee as well as it hurting in the lower lefthand region of my back. What causes this? Has anyone ever heard of this, as it goes away in about a half hour to hour. It will have you doubled over an sweating while praying for relief. I did notice if you squeeze hard on your side really hard it will give you temporary a different sort of pain that is a little more manageable...
Avatar n tn Were any other androgen levels tests - LH, FSH, dhea sulfate, any testosterone levels, or SHBH? Estrogen and testosterone are related and estrogen comes from multiple sources.
Avatar m tn I have had a hormonal imbalance for 2 years (producing too much androgen) and in that time I had gained quite a bit of weight. I am now taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen and have actually begun to FINALLY start losing weight. My weight loss is not much yet, but I was wondering if taking these birth control pills is actually the reason for my weight loss?
Avatar m tn Concentration of testestorone, concentration of oestradiol and free androgen index were even higher than norm. Other things measured in blood-analysis were also quite normal and there was nothing remarkable in blood analysis. I have not taken antipsychotics for over a year but my libido has not recovered. It is known that antipsychotics cause decrease of libido. How in more technical details do these cause that (other than changing concentration of hormones in blood)?
Avatar f tn She does not grow hair on her legs, underarms, or pubic area. This led me to believe that she has androgen insensitivity syndrome. But, she has a fraternal twin that is a guy. Wouldn't he have this condition? I understand that it is possible for this to happen to one of them but the chances are rare. She also has menstrual cycles. I don't believe that people with ais have menstrual cycles.
Avatar m tn There are two androgen-responsive elements in the HBV enhancer I, which contribute to higher viral titers in men. We investigated whether and how estrogen signaling interacts affects progression of HBV infection. METHODS: Ovariectomy and estrogen supplementation were used to evaluate the effect of estrogen on HBV titers in transgenic mice with replicating HBV in hepatocytes.
Avatar m tn The question about what kind of organic volatile compound can trigger allergic reaction on people but still produced in the body, has been asked so many times and used as a mockery against PATM. But do we really know of anything like that in real life? Any examples of this happening in real life? YES! It appears that some sex hormones do the same thing as the unknown compound for PATM. On the link below are real scientifically tested pheromones that works. It increases people’s sex appeal.
