Common Questions and Answers about Androgel side effects on women

androgel

Avatar f tn Hi. Your husband's testosterone was low, and normally they give testosterone shots for this, or I should say "you" would be giving your husband the shots. But he can also have the nurse at his doctor's office give them to him. It's good that he saw an Endo, and he/she really can't comment until his test results come back. At this time she will have lots to discuss with you.
Avatar f tn Are there any women out there taking AndroGel? Was my dosage too high? Any info will be great! Thank you!
1139187 tn?1355706647 Hello, Androgel contains testosterone gel can be used for testosterone replacement but should be sued with caution because it has plenty of side effects. It may cause skin irritation, blisters on skin, problems with urination, nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice and swelling of ankles. Hence use it only under a medical supervision. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Hello, Gynecomastia(enlargement of male breasts) and priapism(frequent or prolonged erections) are common side effects of the androgel(testosterone gel).Pls stop using this drug and consult a urologist for the erection problems that you are having. It can be due to psychological or medical causes which need to be ruled out one by one. 650419 tn?1281359937 m currently on Androgel but the side effect is that it keeps me up all night long like insomnia. I have been living this way for 4 months. I can't go to sleep until 4 or 5 am every morning. If I were to switch to the shots or the pellets would that rid me of the current side effects that I'm suffering from?
Avatar n tn They prescribe testosterone replacement like the androgel patch, he used that for one month but there are side effects on him like N/V, nosebleeds, stomach pain, we went to our doctor to report it.. is there any testosterone replacement other than androgel patch? for now we are still waiting for our next doctors visit/ appointment for the interpretation for the last lab test of my husband, it was done after reporting the side effects of that androgel testosterone patch..
1139187 tn?1355706647 AJ99, has your bone density gotten any better? What were your side effects from the pump? I tried it about 6 months ago, made it about 30 days on the stuff. It made me very irritable, cranky, and my boys ached from high holy hell every day. how long did you do your 2 to 3, then 3-4?
Avatar m tn I do know that Lexapro can cause sweating. The other meds, I"m not sure about their side effects. I'll do some research on them for you. Can you get in to see your PCP sooner to go over your meds to see if that's the problem? Do you think your getting to much salt in your diet? Think about the foods your eating and if your using a lot of table salt.
Avatar n tn Please Help me i feel like i cannot take one more thing on type of my shoulders and i have not been able to sleep for the last 72 hrs thinking on what to do, My doc prescribed (Androgel 5 mg) is there side effects to that ..? Please Doctor tell me what to do..!?
Avatar m tn My Doctor change my meds to first Issentris and Truvada but I was unable to manage with the side effects. So he changed me to Stribild and I had a hard time with this medication also. So now I am back my old regiment and things are the same with no strength and a lot of fatigue. I have been to see a orthopedic and his tests come up negative. My doctors are becoming a lot less sympathetic and they seem to be giving up.
Avatar m tn * Concentration issues I should note that I had two episodes of unprotected sex within the last few months, but they seem to have been low risk encounters based on what I know about these women and what they have told me. All STD tests including HIV have come back negative as well. I know one of the women had Lyme disease - there's apparently some new research that it can be transmitted sexually, but the CDC seems firm that it cannot.
978469 tn?1433547946 My total T was 180 and normal values are 240 to 800 according to my lab. So back in October I was started on 2.5 mg (2 pumps) of androgel. Level went up to 440 Total T. I pushed the doc to let me try 5g (4 pumps) so we can get into he high range. I have been on that now for 3.5 months Just got checked and my T was 785 and Ftrr T I believe 22.0 (very good). I fell GREAT! But about 2 weeks ago he checks my blood pressure and it was 145/90.
Avatar n tn For several months I have had a lot of mood problems really bordering on being depressed a lot. I also have been on Androgel 1.62% for low T, 2 pumps/day for several years. I'm trying to figure out if my mood issues could be related to my Thyroid and or the androgel. My TSH seems decent but in the past I've felt my best when my TSH was in the 1 - 2 range. I just don't want to start down a path of anti-depressants if I don't have to.
Avatar f tn I would NOT quit Androgel. I started using Androgel because of depression, hair loss, shaving every 3 days (which is good!), atrophying of all muscles and my bone density dropped. I started Androgel 1.62% and everything improved greatly Good luck and do this only with doctors approval.
Avatar m tn The Androgel bottle says it's supposed to be kept at 77 degree's. The room I keep my Androgel in a roo thats about50 degree's . Could this be affecting the Androgel? It doesny seem to be working for me. Started on 4 pumps and worked at first then it didnt. Now on 6 pumps and I felt a difference but now that has declined. Jusy wondering if the room temp could be harming this drug and maybe why it doesnt seem to be working for me. Thanks in advance, Sutallee.
Avatar f tn Most women have no lasting side effects from an epidural. Only about 2-3% of women have lasting side effects such as headaches and even less likely partial paralysis. The most common side effect of an epidural is a drop in moms BP. This can sometimes reduce fetal heart rate but usually isn't enough to cause any harm to mom or baby. If you go in and there are any concerns with baby's heart rate they may not allow an epidural at all.
Avatar f tn The most common side effects are hot flashes and vaginal discharge. Some women experience irregular menstrual periods, headaches, fatigue, nausea and/or vomiting, vaginal dryness or itching, irritation of the skin around the vagina, and skin rash. As with menopause, not all women who take tamoxifen have these symptoms. Men who take tamoxifen may experience headaches, nausea and/or vomiting, skin rash, impotence, or a decrease in sexual interest.
Avatar m tn Thank you,Doctor.
Avatar f tn Headache, mood changes, abdominal pain, loss of libido, and vaginal dryness may be seen in few women using the implant. Few women may also have weight gain as one of its side effects. Few women may also develop ovarian cysts while on nexplanon. It is best to discuss the risks and benefits of any birth control method before starting to use it. It is best to have a frank discussion with your gynecologist about these side effects.
Avatar m tn These side effects include ... rapid heartbeat, irregular heartbeat ... These side effects most frequently occur when simvastatin is coupled with niacin, another cholesterol-lowering drug. Read more: http://www.livestrong.
Avatar n tn I am on Androgel for testesterone replacement therapy. The instructions say not to apply to my penis. I have done it sometimes and get an erection. Why should I not do this?
Avatar n tn I have been on Androgel for about one year. My testosterone tested low after i complaining of fatigue with my primary dr and he prescribed this. i felt much better for a few weeks but then i began to feel terrible. It appears to have exacerbated my sleep apnea terribly, and moods are up and down. I have been slowly trying to wean from it but I wonder if i will ever get back to producing T normally.
