Androgel how to apply

Common Questions and Answers about Androgel how to apply

androgel

Avatar n tn I am on Androgel for testesterone replacement therapy. The instructions say not to apply to my penis. I have done it sometimes and get an erection. Why should I not do this?
Avatar f tn I would NOT quit Androgel. I started using Androgel because of depression, hair loss, shaving every 3 days (which is good!), atrophying of all muscles and my bone density dropped. I started Androgel 1.62% and everything improved greatly Good luck and do this only with doctors approval.
Avatar m tn The normal conditions are to store at 25°C (77°F); excursions permitted to 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F). I would suggest that you get a check of serum testosterone to see the effect of treatment and depending upon that the dose adjustments and requirement can be assessed. Consult your doctor for further assistance.
Avatar f tn Libido in both men and women is related closely to the level of testosterone in the blood (yes women have testosterone produced largely by the adrenal glands and men have so-called female hormones in their system). Testosterone level in the blood can be increased by a number of medications (androgel applied to the skin of the stomach, shots in the buttocks, etc.) all of which require a doctor's prescription.
Avatar m tn I was on androgel for several years with good libido results before discontinuing due to prostate cancer. After brachytherapy for my cancer, I am in remission, and after 2+ years resumed taking androgel. I am on androgel again, and have high Testosterone levels (about 1000), but my libido has never recovered. I also have had hypothyroidism, but have been taking synthroid for it for many years with no adverse impact on my libido. Does anyone have a suggestion for what to do?
Avatar f tn In May- his Testosterone was checked it was up to the 350 level. (All the while he has stayed on the Androgel. ) He has even gone to a therapist for counseling for anxiety. I recently googled Androgel and anxiety and did come across quite a few people who have had cases of anxiety with Androgel. Could this be the cause? We think possibly. We recently stopped the pristyq (about 2 weeks ago) and just went to the endocronologist today. First time seeing a specialist.
Avatar n tn I think Androgel is Schedule II. Cost is about $300-400/month in the US. Might be cheap from a compounding pharmacy. Shots are very very much cheaper. Why do you think you need it?
Avatar m tn I had a civilian doctor who started treating my condition, now I'm back in the Army and they don't seem to care or have a clue as how to treat me. I'm 46 yrs old and I have done two tours of Iraq, if that is any help to finding my problem. I don't know if anyone has noticed or seen a rise of this problem of soldiers in the Middle East. Started seeing my civilian doctor because my blood test revealed that my testosterone was too low.
Avatar m tn I have arthritus in my back and hips. I would like to know if the rise in hormone levels contributed to the increase in inflamation. I am scheduled for another MRI in a different location. Doctor believes that I may have a herniated disc. This of course would not be assiciated with the use of Androgel but I have stopped using it for seven days now. The less things my liver has to deal with right now the better.
Avatar m tn I didn't know where to post this question since testosterone replacement therapy wasn't an option on the board. However this does relate to depression/anxiety. Does any males here take this therapy?
1139187 tn?1355706647 Hello, Androgel contains testosterone gel can be used for testosterone replacement but should be sued with caution because it has plenty of side effects. It may cause skin irritation, blisters on skin, problems with urination, nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice and swelling of ankles. Hence use it only under a medical supervision. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn for men is a much better alternative to Androgel. The symptoms you are having are also Androgel side affects. Please consider a different treatment for the low T. Since your TSH is higher it's most likely your mood problems are more related to low T. Also google raising testosterone levels naturally in addition to hormone replacement therapy.
978469 tn?1433547946 My total T was 180 and normal values are 240 to 800 according to my lab. So back in October I was started on 2.5 mg (2 pumps) of androgel. Level went up to 440 Total T. I pushed the doc to let me try 5g (4 pumps) so we can get into he high range. I have been on that now for 3.5 months Just got checked and my T was 785 and Ftrr T I believe 22.0 (very good). I fell GREAT! But about 2 weeks ago he checks my blood pressure and it was 145/90.
650419 tn?1281359937 I guess I should of given a little more detail. I'm 40 years old. I was tested last April and my testosterone level was 35 ng. I was given 10g of Androgel per day ever since. I went and had another blood test just 3 weeks ago and my testosterone level was at 236 ng. The whole time with the exception of the first 8 to 10 days that I was on the Androgel I have had trouble going to sleep. I can't go to sleep until 4 or 5 am because I'm too restless and wound up.
798579 tn?1237506930 My question is...I put my Androgel onat night before I go to bed. Right no, I have to get up every 6 hours to stretch and get in the whirlpool. My children get in this whirlpool aft I do? Will the Andogel be washed off of me after the 6 ours and will it affect my children? Ive read allthe side effects that can happen if they even touch the stuff! Please help me, I don't want either of my children to be affected by this.
Avatar m tn would there be similar cause and effect to CSCR? Even if CSCR was present prior to androgen therapy?
Avatar m tn I was at 250 total test when he put me on it. Started one pump which lowered me to 198 total. Then I went up to two pumps but never got levels tested these last two months because I lost my job and insurance. I finally got this obamacare garbage insurance for 300 a month but they will never cover it. I am done I do not want huge medical bills anymore, so I want to come off it. Will it be tough? I am pretty sure I'm still low anyways so I dont think it should be that bad an adjustment.
694895 tn?1263662430 It is possible that low T is responsible for the severity and long duration of this episode. The Rx prescribed is Androgel...but at $250 an Rx I am unable to have it filled...I have no insurance and not enough money to start the treatment...anyone else have their Test level checked as part of a depression profile ? If so, what therapy were you prescribed.
689860 tn?1238718032 from my experience, they are more in tune with diabetic needs, and not age related hormone modulation). What seems to work best to raise your hormone levels to where they need to be are WEEKLY injections of between .5 and 1 cc of testosterone. Be sure your doctor monitors your levels monthly including your estradiol (estrogen) levels. When your proper testosterone levels are achieved, continue to monitor your estradiol levels monthly for up to 6 months.
Avatar f tn If he were to go on injections, will that automatically stop production of sperm? We want to have a baby in about a year and a half to two years. Also, if he takes it for a little while, is it possible for his count to stay up after taking it? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
