Avatar f tn I put my daughter on a amphetamine after i see the effects and benefits and try other things like behavior management and therapy. It helped a little but when my daughter was getting Ds and Fs in school and could not sit for more then 10 mins and talking out in class and other things that you do not need to know. I had decided that it is time to take other action and put her on meds.
1861446 tn?1320445285 I am sorry... Are you saying Amphetamine, like Crystal Meth? Or Opiates? I can relate with you on opiates...even though I do believe all of us addicts can relate in some sort of way since our addiction usually takes over our lives and we lose everything. I will go to your profile and add you as a friend, you will just have to accept it. I think we all can help eachother out on here... This place is pretty much my aftercare.
Avatar n tn Some amphetamines have longer half lives. Amphetamine detox is a bit stranger than other drugs. Some people bounce back quickly...others slowly. What was your drug of choice and dosages?

Avatar f tn nuvigil is the sustained release version. most health insurances will require a you to try other drugs like ritalin first or prior authorizations and after all that still have it cost a lot by having some type of deductible/coinsurance for either one of these. anti-depressants will not help with drowsiness/sleep attacks.
1165577 tn?1263001618 You are right about the drugs being in the same family, they are all psychostimulants mainly composed of amphetamine and/or dextroamphetamine, levoamphetamine, and other stuff like that... SugieSprinks, the medication change won't affect your weight simply because amphetamine kind of drugs decrease appetite regardless of the brand.I think the reason your doctor switched you to Vyvanse is because of the reduced side effects and drug lasting longer.

Avatar n tn It can be a side effect of Ritalin (methylphenidate), Adderall (dextro/levo-amphetamine) and Lunesta (eszopiclone) and other prescription drugs or of cocaine or amphetamines. (Accordingly, it goes by the slang term "coke bugs".) Formication can also be a withdrawal symptom of weaning oneself off cocaine or amphetamine. It can also accompany alcohol withdrawal in alcoholics, along with delirium tremens.
Avatar f tn There are no OTC drugs that contain actual amphetamine, if that's what you mean! And it's restricted even with a prescription.
Avatar m tn Please do stick with your plan to quit. It may not feel like anything is happening but you are putting terrible strain on your heart with all that stimulation & may not get any warning before major heart failure. Aderall has a half life of around 10 hours & sudafed somewhat less than that.

Avatar n tn t want to play around with newer drugs with side effects I am afraid of. i know how the amphetamine adhd meds makes me feel and I am working now and doing fine but in a few days I will be out. I won't meet him (my psychiatrist)for another month. How can I get him to let me be on adderal instead of Strattera when he is afraid I will get addicted?
Avatar f tn MDMA is an amphetamine, they call it a halucinogen, but is chemically an amphetamine. The A at the end is "Amphetamine." You have blown out your adrenal glands. It tikes time for them to recover. It's hard to get excited or have energy after regular use. Try to support your adrenals with food and herbs. Drink lots of water, and like nursegirl said, you are dealing with an addiction. Stopping drugs is not enough, you have to work on growing as a person and family member.
Avatar f tn the adderall listed is an amphetamine and shouldnt be taken during pregnancy anyway.. so it seems like your friend needs to look at her situation and determine what is more important.. a baby that fails a drug test for drugs she was supposidly prescribed.... or if her baby is going to be healthy due to her taking meds that isn't recommended during pregnancy... i think she'd be concerned about the health of the baby.
Avatar m tn My pulse is exceptionally weak and my blood pressure is 156/90 after taking one (1) 500mg Naproxen and an amphetamine. I went and got my blood pressure checked, as well as my resting heart rate. The nurse never actually tried to feel my pulse, though. So I came home and I am very worried about how weak my pulse is. Has anybody heard weather or not taking Naproxen with an amphetamine can be harmful because it is not in the drug facts and I cannot find anything about it online either.
Avatar f tn Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep. But, I doubt that you could find a doctor to prescribe for this. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn t even moving my tongue and just had felt it like an hallucination. About 5 seconds later, I felt like my soul was cracking out of my body and felt a severe stabbing pain on the middle of my brain that lasted about 2 seconds. I got up out of my seat and started screaming on the top of my lungs. I had no symptoms afterwards. What had happened? I understand that MDMA is an amphetamine which works on serotinergic and dopaminergic system which can cause vasconstriction.
Avatar m tn Typically pre-employment drug testing looks for specific substances (opiates, cocaine, amphetamine and THC, etc.) Interferon and ribavarin should not affect the outcome. Don't worry about it too much. Good luck in your job hunt.

Avatar f tn Like Tuck said, did the same two physicians prescribe these drugs together? To me, this sounds unusual putting an Amphetamine and an opiate together. I almost seems dangerous. Call the Pharmacy or the Doc who did the prescribing. They will have a good answer. There are no Doctors in this forum and it seems like a good question to ask a professional.
Avatar m tn Hello & Welcome Peeli2. There are many reasons why one can become Addicted to substances, from Genes, environment, social anxiety, tolerance, mental disorders and so fourth, but in your case I think it is all about those mental illnesses you have. NOW I am no Dr but I have been studying Addiction and the map of the Brain for over 4 yrs now, and just read all about these mental disorders and using substances to feel better. Have you ever talked with a specialist?
Avatar m tn FYI, paroxetine has a reputation as being one of the hardest psychotropic drugs to withdraw from. Also, it sounds like you are certain that you have anxiety and depression, and that is what the paroxetine is for. And paroxetine does not particularly have a reputation for keeping people awake at night, at least not that I have ever heard of.
Avatar n tn One day I started to feel like I was drunk but in a way I didnĀ“t enjoy, the pulse was very high and pounding, an extreme restlessness and fever among other things. Then I discoverd that I had been taking a lower dose of Paxil for some time. As far as I can tell I had some degree of serotonin syndrome and now I'm a bit worried.
674607 tn?1240017232 The cardiologist who gave me this warning is not fully conversant with psycho-active drugs, but suspects that some of them may be causing or contributing to the problem. Here is my current cocktail: Effexor (low dosage), Lithium (low--600 mg), Wellbutrin (300 mg), Risperdal (low), Clonazepam (low), Dexedrine 10 mg when needed. Do you think any meds on this list can cause high blood pressure?
Avatar m tn Hi, I took some amphetamine type drugs and they shrunk my private parts greatly. This went on for a good 24 hour period. I kind of noticed that they were shrunk more than they should be but I didn't take any action or know what to do. The shrink went away after I slept off the drugs. But it's now two days later and can't feel my penis head. I am now dribbling pee. Is this permanent? If nerve endings die will they come back?
