Avatar f tn So I caught a bacteria on my throat last month and was prescribed with Amoxicillin. It got rid of the infection, but then right after my tonsils from inside my throat was swollen and was taking Prednisone. It went away. I felt better and now I have it again. A bacteria on my tonsils and I found out I am getting it from my filthy fan. This time the doctor gave me Clindamycin.
Avatar f tn t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
Avatar f tn Over the course of the last month and a half I have been on 4 different antibiotics for different problems. Biccilin, azithromycin, amoxicillin, and clindamycin. About a week ago after I finished the clindamycin I had absolute crazy diarrhea, abdominal pain(mostly radiating from my right side) and loss of appetite. I was tested for cdiff. By my dr and the test came back -.
Avatar f tn So my LLMD has me on the following medications: Amoxicillin, Clindamycin, and Capadex (for my stomach problems). My dosage of the antibiotics are very high and I will be taking it for about 2 months. He believes I may H pyelori as well as Lymes because of my reoccurring ulcers. I am getting a more sensitive test for h Pyelori as well. I am also taking or about to Amrix for muscle pain. Has anyone taken this?
Avatar n tn No available alternatives to treat the infection have been suggested as my reactions previously have included Amoxicillin, Erythromycin, Clindamycin, and any sulfa based meds. Does anyone know what my Dentist should be suggesting as options...I'm having a root canal tomorrow too... HELP?
Avatar f tn The main 2 antibiotics dentists like in the US are Amoxicillin and Clindamycin. However, if Cipro has worked for you in the past, there is no reason your dentist can't prescribe that for you instead (other than drug interactions if you are taking other meds). Talk to your dentist about it. Clindamycin is a great antibiotic, but its usually better for more severe infections and it does tend to cause a lot of GI problems. Azithromycin is also good if Clindamycin makes you that sick.
Avatar f tn Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
Avatar m tn I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
Avatar f tn The best antibiotic is probably amoxicillin or clindamycin. Ciprofloxacin would work. I don't usually prescribe bactrim. I don't really prescribe ciprofloxacin either.
Avatar f tn Can clindamycin kill the bacteria in the back of my throat. I had the same thing happened to me before, I had bacteria on my tonsils and in the back of my throat and I used amoxicillin but it only killed the bacteria on my tonsils. Then from not treating the bacteria in the back of my throat caused my tonsils down my throat to swell so I was prescribed prednisone. It cured.
Avatar f tn My dentist uncovered the implant and did a bone graft over the top of the implant where the infection had eaten the bone away. He soaked it in clindamycin and I took clindamycin orally afterwards. Six weeks after that, I started feeling bad again. My dentist put me on another round of clindamycin coupled with metronidazole. A 3D CONE x-ray showed that there was infection behind the top of the implant. This time, I had an oral surgeon uncover the implant and clean it out.
Avatar n tn A tooth infection should be treated appropriately to prevent spread of infection. The usually preferred antibiotics are amoxicillin, clindamycin, penicillins and metrogyl.Azithromycin may raise serum methadone levels and/or increase the effects of methadone. It is advisable to contact a local health care provider. Do write to us again. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn Thanks..
Avatar f tn If amoxicillin is not effective, switching to clindamycin+metronidazole may help clear dental infection.
Avatar f tn Asked if ER prescribed Clindamycin, I said no, he said continue Amoxicillin, do hot compresses, and mouthwash, and I should be fine. Forgot to say my glands on both sides are swollen, and I am STILL in pain, and visually, I am NO better.
Avatar m tn ) On the other hand, would I endanger my health by taking the Clindamycin after so many other recent antibiotic courses (including 16 days of Clindamycin in September)?
Avatar n tn in charge said to put me on Amoxicillin because of the swelling under my eye. Will Amoxicillin be appropriate? Can it take care of cellulitis? About sealing the crown. The filling was temporary on Friday and on Monday. I'm not sure why he didn't finalize it Monday. He opened it back up and cleaned it out again and tried to get it to drain but it wouldn't. When you say leave it open, you don't mean the actual canal do you?
Avatar f tn My eight year old is allergic to amoxicillin, zithromax, clindamycin, and cefzil. We have seen an allergist, and he said there are no tests for antibiotics and that "we have a problem." Can someone please guide me in what to do next? My doctor was hoping the allergist would help guide us for future treatments. I am fearful for any infection like strep throat, ear or skin infections, we have run out of options.
Avatar f tn In response to your question nothing was given for the swelling just to apply a ice pack to my face , I was given another antibiotic to take this was to replace the amoxicillin ( allergic to penicillin) this new antibiotic is clindamycin unfortunately could not continue on it due to "BAD,BAD stomach upset, contacted dentist office was told continue with the ice and just stop the medication oh and when can we schedule your next visit to finish the work on the tooth, crown etc.
Avatar f tn I've been on antibiotics 3 X, every time I'm done, infection comes back, even after tooth extraction. Please see details below, I need your opinion. Thank You... Started with Left sore throat, then Gum Pain & hard white painful bump near #17 wisdom tooth. Got severe, hard to swallow, chew, painful. My reg. Dentist Rx'd Amoxicillin - took 6 days to start working. After swelling went down, did x-ray, he could not find any problem -tooth not abcessed.
Avatar n tn They did a re-treatment on the tooth. My dentist had put on me on pain meds and amoxicillin. two days after the retreatment I was in horrible pain. I went back to the endo to have an I&D done. My face was very swollen for two days. They then switched my meds to clindamycin(2 rounds) The swelling has gone away mostly but there is still a little swollen area near the tooth where the I&D was done. Every day it is an improvement but it still hurts.
Avatar f tn If infection persists after 3-5 days of amoxicillin administration, switching to other antibiotics , such as clindamycin or erythromycin is advised.
Avatar f tn So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.

Avatar f tn 1) can all of these antibiotics ive been on delay/impact tests taken? 2) are my tests up to this point a good indication of a - status? 3) can my root canal have delayed p24 from showing up on tests? 4) at what day would my tests be considered conclusive?
Avatar f tn I went to the dentist on the 1st who sent me to an oral surgeon and percribed me 12 Tylenol #3 and amoxicillin. Finished the amoxicillin and saw the oral surgeon on the 8th. I have extractions scheduled for the 23rd but I still have an abscessed tooth. I had to go back to my dentist on the 15th for her to tell me that she wouldn't give me another dose of antibiotics and to take tylenol (which ive practically been living off of the last few weeks) for the pain. Which doesn't help.
