I believe that we emit ammonia from our bodies due to to the imbalance in our stomach and digestive track. Are bodies cannot get rid of the excess ammonia properly so it comes out through our pores causing people to sneeze and itch. I'm not a doctor, but I've had this long enough to know this is part of our problem.
s OK as long as he place is well ventilated.. My hair stylist uses products that are ammonia free so that makes a huge difference.. I just don't like having to sit back with my head tilted for a long time..I actually get up and walk while I wait for the color to process.. Although I do not bleach my hair anymore either.. I did it during my pregnancy I think your fine they said it was bad if there was ammonia in it but they don't use ammonia is hair dye anymore
My first suggestion would be to go see your regular doctor (not the OB) a regular general practitioner so that you can have a full physical. The urine smell is probably an ammonia smell and there are some causes for an ammonia smell including a skin infection with Helicobacter (this is a bacteria), a high protein diet, liver problems, etc. If everything checks out with your regular doctor, I think my next suggestion would be to see an endocrinologist. I was very sick about a month ago and my ammonia level had gone up to twice what is normal. The dr always tells me that my liver enzymes are good. I want to know what stage I am in and what damage is done to my liver. I heard that your enzymes can be fine but damage is still happening. I asked about a biopsy and he said they don't do that anymore. This is the Veterans Administration Doctors. He said it was not just the VA that stopped doing them.
Never have consumed alcohol, but did smoke pot. My bili levels were at 5.4, INR 2.1, my ammonia level is currently 286, have some cloudiness, blurred vision, etc. I have had up to 7 litres of ascitic fluid per week. I'm on IV infused ulbumin, because of a lab value of 2. It seems over the winter months everything gets worse and I spend summer recovering. My albumin level is at 3.9 now, my liver function values have drastically improved and my meld went from 26 to 15.

I'm not sure if this is the best forum, but it seems the closest fit. I'm a 30 year old British guy, 5'11", 175lbs. At the moment I'm working overseas, and likely to be doing so for at least the next 6 months.
For a few weeks now I've been noticing wafts of what I can only describe as the smell of Ammonia. I cant be sure where the smell is coming from - it's quite obvious if I breath in really deep through my nose a few times.
but i also know this stopped happening maybe a week after i quit smoking. i dont smoke cigarettes. i have never coughed up anything unless im working in an attic or dusty room. that doesnt make sense to me. im assuming you dont smoke cigarettes either? from what you wrote you quit two yrs ago and this started a year ago? if thats what you meant to write then your saying a year went by after u quit then this started it doesnt sound to me like it is much related. but im no doctor.
I have watched his diet no salt, fresh veggies and fruit, he uses honey for sugar and olive oil for butter. The local hospitals here in W Palm Beach said it is to dangerous for them to a biopsy because of his platelets-they tried to increase them but couldn't. I know he is angry because I just started treatments, first shot last week. He is driving me crazy with his attitude, he doesn't think he has one. He forgets and he is mean. I feel bad because, he has noone else to help him.

just avoid henna dyes and make sure your hairstylists (or you) uses ammonia-free dyes as well...both of those absorb into the blood stream more readily than other dyes and are obviously best avoided during pregnancy :-). And as long as the salon is well-ventilated, shouldn't be an issue.
Other than that, go for it! I've dyed my hair with 2 of my 3 pregnancies with no problems...it can really give you a pick-me-up in those mid-pregnancy blahs!
You have to have the tobacco in the hookah in order to smoke from it. Hookahs are formly known as pipes for tobacco and other uses(i'm sure your fimilar with it) lol They pretty much do have the same effect as cigarettes but smoking from a hookah is much harsher!! If you've smoked from them before then you know what i mean--if not, give it a whirl...never hurts to try something new!
I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?
We discovered that my husband had an episode of Encephalopathy, which is high ammonia in the blood.
But by the time we had his blood checked his levels were right smack in the middle of the range. Doctor said he was fine. So my question is can this ammonia gone untreated continue to rise and lower on its own. Because he has days that he seems fine and then days when he is not with me completely. He does not eat much as his taste buds are totally out of wack. Most foods taste very salty.
I recently found out I had high ammonia, it was 66, I am taking lactalose and it is is now normal. All my blood work is within normal ranges on my liver function test and I also had a sonogram, have a mild fatty liver. Was wondering what could have caused this. I do drink a few beers a night.
