144586 tn?1284669764 This is something to be checked on. Many aides are extremely careless regarding both bleach and ammonia. If bleach is mixed with ammonia a deadly gas develops. Many aides have problems with english and do not understand this. Aides and cleaning ladies should not be permitted to use either of these fluids without supervision in the room of an elderly debilitated immobile patient.
Avatar f tn Seems that the sooner they get him on the list, the less $$ it would cost them and the better chance he has to survive longer. He is getting so weak and has a lot of ammonia in his system which gives him the shakes real bad, slurring, and loosing his balance. They have now given him a new medicine which has helped somewhat. A co-worker of his went to China for a kidney transplant and total cost including air/hotel for spouse, etc was $15K. This seems incredible to hear.
483733 tn?1326802046 He does mow the lawn and handle the garbage. Otherwise he uses the dining room as his changing room, leaves dirty kleenexes everywhere (living room and bedroom), leaves chewed chewing tobacco on the side tables in the living room and bedroom, misses the toilet regularly and doesn't clean up his mouthwash, chewing tobacco and toothpaste (uses too much) in the sink. I am guilty of leaving piles of books/papers and not picking them up as I should.

Avatar m tn DETOXIFYING AMMONIA Ammonia toxicityIn part 2 of AMMONIA TOXICITY we are going to find out what we can do to remove ammonia from our body, both by supporting the organs involved in processing and disposing of it, and by taking supplements with an affinity for removing ammonia. We have seen that there are 3 organ systems in the body that produce and/or deal with ammonia: the liver, the kidneys and the intestines.

147426 tn?1317269232 I finally fell asleep, but was awakened by a commotion outside the french door to my room that was open to the back deck. I looked up and saw the hem of my curtain disappearing to the outside. There is a little raccoon kit that uses that ruse to get my attention. But, then I heard a cat growl and decided my presence was needed. I stood up too fast and got my feet entangled in the sheet and blanket in front of my recliner.
1986676 tn?1329866071 No, I have that one also. The offensive room is my sons' room, but it smelled just fine to me, before this Tx. I do plan on cleaning their carpet this week, to see if that helps, because I can barely stand it though. And it's not my skin that smells to me, but me teeth! I have to scrub them with Golden Seal powder, and them brush them thru-out the day, and use all these different types of mouth-wash...which helps a bit.

541196 tn?1293556536 Take your cat to the litter box frequently, and if she uses it, praise her, or even give her a treat. If you catch your cat in the act of urinating or defecating outside of the box (or even using the digging motion), use a remote correction. This generally means doing something that will startle her. Tossing a pop can with a few coins inside of it and taped shut toward the cat (but not at her!) may get her to stop. Foghorns, whistles, and water pistols are other options.
3060903 tn?1398568723 All of that shelving without taking up any needed space! This can be done in just about any room of the house. 2. Small Space Dining No room for a dining room table? Use a console table at the end of a couch in a living area that’s next to the kitchen. It doubles as a place to eat, craft, rest, and work! This would also be a convenient place to set a drink down while you’re on the couch. 3. Between The Studs Small homes and apartments don’t typically have a lot of storage space.
Avatar f tn I can only describe it as an ammonia smell. It had lessened greatly until that 1 freakin night, but now seems to b wearing off again slowly.
Avatar f tn Reflex is the term the lab uses to denote the fact that the PCR portion of the test was non-detect and therefore the test now *reflexes* to TMA. Not surprising the mix-up, as customer service reps these days don't always know what they're reading.
1344677 tn?1278347764 I don’t know if they’re an issue for you, but they won’t consider transplant if the patient currently drinks or uses drugs, or even if they have a recent history of that. You’ll find as others have said that cirrhosis isn’t always a death sentence, but it is a serious complication and requires careful management.
73878 tn?1214056807 rude and didn't seem to give a rats ass about the person/patient.))..BUT..I AM having to fight to use Pegasys over the other one..seems he only uses PegIntron..from S-P. I don't think it is right for a dr to use only one companys' products.. .I can't have a biopsy because my platelets and PTT won't budge in a positive way..Radiologist said it was too risky for me. (I have posted on this before).. and he will use Procrit, etc..has me seeing a Hematologist already..but.. OVERALL..
Avatar n tn All those memory and concentration problems sound like classic 'hepatic encephalopathy' and is really quite common since its just a chemical thing--too much ammonia caused 'fuzzy thinking.' Dairy converts to ammonia in the small intestines immediately!
Avatar f tn With the blood transfusion they gave him it cleaned all the toxins from his blood but it likely that the ammonia and manganese will be present soon enough and you will find out how it effects his brain giving him Hepatic Encephalopathy (causing the confusion and memory problems along with many more symptoms). Not all cirrhotic patients are effect by the toxins and again this is unknown. This not curable without transplant but in many cases it is manageable. Such as mine.
Avatar n tn this is the sight i believe you are mentioning calif, and i would agree it is a great sight for support when you have cirrhosis and face transplant...these folks over there know ALOT about both and are extreemly kind. sweetpea, i am so sorry to hear about your fiance. sounds like you guys could really use the support on the sight i will list below. you will find alot of spouses posting for their loved ones there cause they are just too sick with cirhosis to post.
496771 tn?1209698358 This kit is PPD-, resorcinol- and ammonia-free, and uses vegetarian, plant-based dyes to permanently fix color. Also available: color protecting shampoo and conditioner, and semi-permanent tinting kits. You can find reviews all over that confirm its SAFE. I have done months of research trying o find a safe hairdye & this is the first i have know. I have found people who are severly allergic to PPD & has used this with no reaction at all.
1896835 tn?1321576203 Others more familiar with cirrhosis will likely stop by later with their input; I’ll share a few things with you right now. If your brother uses alcohol, he must stop drinking now; this will be a life or death matter for him. If he requires a liver transplant in the future he won’t be considered for TP unless he can demonstrate a period of sobriety, usually at least six months.
Avatar m tn I have seen military doctors at Walter Reed in Md to private doctors in several different states I have lived in since being medically retired I have had every test imaginable ---- I have blood tests of all sorts all the time Even my liver levels are in normal range (even though I still have a viral load) They keep saying they can't do anything until they cure the Hep C to eliminate that My ammonia levels fluctuate (depending on diet and activity) One doc was shocked at how high it was ---- 6 mo
