she has continued to take the Lactolose for the past two weeks but today her ammonia level is 150. I would like to find out how high ammonia level can go before it is considered toxic and will cause her to go into a coma? I am also wondering in end stage cirrhosis will the lactolose eventually be uneffective in bringing down the ammonia levels? My final question is what kind of life expectancy is there when the cirrohsis remains at that level?

He has been in the hospital 3 times in the last month with high ammonia levels. He was just told he needed to be on a no protein diet and is taking the lactulose. The last time he was in the hospital his ammonia level was 250. He was not responding to anyone and it mimicked a stroke. He received IV therapy and a blood transfusion at this time also. Would increasing his lactulose on the onset of increased confusion (he is always slightly confused now) help clear some more of the ammonia out?

According to what you posted, he was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome - which is a genetic disorder. There is no cure. From the symptoms you describe, that seems to fit. Other than physical therapy and other care that is similar, I don't really have any other ideas.

I have B-6 toxicity. Blood levels 4x normal. I have sharp needles pricking my entire body, even my face all day & worsens at night. From the evening on it is unbearable & scratch constantly. My Dr gave me a sleeping pill to take for a few days to break the lack of sleep cycle & then I just have to wait it out. Is there anything else I can do to speed the recovery of this? The answers about the lactulose and blood ammonia, my last visit to the gastro showed a blood ammonia level of 192 which is twice to high end, but I was not experiencing any symptoms, (had another test last wk no results yet) but with all I read about the ammonia levels it scared me a lot...... I have now applied for the meds through Roche and hope to start tx soon. By the way CONGRATS on your successful tx.........
