A problem my friend with Hep C and i have encountered is that consumption of animal protein caused an ammonia buildup. I would wake up to the constant smell of ammonia everywhere i went. Since i am mostly vegetarian, and only break this rule with fish a few times a month, i was careful to note that the ammonia smell only occurred after eating fish. My physician tested me and found that i definitely had an ammonia buildup and i should stop eating animal protein.

He will take a shower and then towel dry. He smells great. The towel smells like ammonia, then after it drys it is just horrible bo. He gets mad because I wash his towel after one use but it stinks up whole bathroom. He does not smell it. What could this be? Please help this is something I can not take.
No, fish oil needs no refrigeration if it's in gel caps. It's the flax seed oil that needs the refrigeration.

Personally, I feel this does not include varying room temperatures and I would not advise anyone to leave it out in hi (hot) temperatures. But, that's my personal opinion. Would only feel comfortable to do something like that if I knew the temperatures at which the forumula/medicine would change.
Some people with cirrhosis will have a bad body odor that may smell like ammonia. This is due to high blood ammonia levels from advanced liver disease where the liver's ability to process toxins is reduced.
A good rule of thumb is that a healthful diet is helpful for just about anyone anyone -- and this is especially true if you have cirrhosis. Foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and proteins of proper types and in proper amounts are very appropriate.
The color will fall out earlier then normal. Make sure to use ammonia free color also never use box dye! Which you would buy at wal-mart etc... And definitely make sure you are not in the first trimester. Good luck hon.
my doctor recommended a hair dye that is plant based, I have 2 hairstylists in my fam their salons did not carry this product but she did say they personally carried color chromatics from redken which is oil based...

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?
We discovered that my husband had an episode of Encephalopathy, which is high ammonia in the blood.
But by the time we had his blood checked his levels were right smack in the middle of the range. Doctor said he was fine. So my question is can this ammonia gone untreated continue to rise and lower on its own. Because he has days that he seems fine and then days when he is not with me completely. I recently found out I had high ammonia, it was 66, I am taking lactalose and it is is now normal. All my blood work is within normal ranges on my liver function test and I also had a sonogram, have a mild fatty liver. Was wondering what could have caused this. I do drink a few beers a night.
Patients with liver disease are unable to process or detoxify ammonia so that ammonia levels can reach dangerously high levels. This is coupled by increased ammonia production of colonic bacteria, especially if one is constipated or has an irregular bowel movement. High protein intake can also lead to an incresed ammonia production. I suggest you talk about these possibilities with your doctors.
Can anybody advice if semi-permanent ones without ammonia or peroxide are okay to use? I looked into Henna as well but they seem very inconvenient. Any ideas anybody? Please?

A diet high in animal protein (which contains a lot of ammonia) may precipitate an episode of encephalopathy among these people. Researchers aren’t exactly sure what causes encephalopathy, but they suspect that an excess of ammonia in the body may be one of the triggers.
Vegetarian diets, on the other hand, have a low ammonia content and have been shown to be much less likely than animal protein diets to induce encephalopathy.
