Avatar f tn You can dye your hair as long as the dye is ammonia free, and I would also wait until you are officially out of the 1st trimester. The dye doesn't get into your blood stream so it's fine, just make sure you get ammonia free. I wondered this too so I did a lot of research, I just haven't gotten around to actually dying my hair yet.
Avatar f tn she has continued to take the Lactolose for the past two weeks but today her ammonia level is 150. I would like to find out how high ammonia level can go before it is considered toxic and will cause her to go into a coma? I am also wondering in end stage cirrhosis will the lactolose eventually be uneffective in bringing down the ammonia levels? My final question is what kind of life expectancy is there when the cirrohsis remains at that level?
1475202 tn?1536270977 Which is why patients with overt HE are advised to avoid red meats which during digestion create a lot of ammonia. Other sources of serum ammonia are the kidneys and skeletal muscle. Normally, ammonia is metabolized by the liver. When the liver function is impaired, shunting of blood around the liver, and increased muscle wasting all lead to increased serum ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients. But ammonia isn't the only toxin involved in HE.
Avatar m tn First of all, proteus can decompose urea to produce ammonia. We have all heard the smell of ammonia. The smell of urine in the toilet is the smell of ammonia. Therefore, the urine odor of PATM patients is produced by Proteus. In addition, proteus produces indole and hydrogen sulfide in our intestines. Indole is another name for faecal odor. The reason why feces stink is because of the high concentration of indole in feces. The fecal odor of PATM patients is produced by Proteus.
Avatar f tn So, I’ve been doing some more research, I was looking into bad breath as it seems to be a common denominator among us. I had bad breath growing up however since after high school it went away. I also did have a lot of work done to my teeth such as braces, extractions etc. (maybe that helped). Anyways, I remember reading a post about a woman who said a smell came from her until she had deep cleaning with her teeth and it went away for awhile.
Avatar f tn There is no research found that dying your hair while pregnant causes harm to the fetus. I dyed my hair with ammonia free hair dye and my son is completely fine. My best friend dyed her hair for her wedding photos while pregnant and her daughter is now 6 months and completely fine. It is safe.
Avatar f tn It isn't correct to say it's unsafe to dye your hair in the first trimester. Though professionals believe that none or little of the chemicals get absorbed into the skin, not enough research has been done to know if it's safe or not. So doctors recommend waiting until the second trimester to dye hair. I personally started dying my hair again toward the end of my first trimester, and I used ammonia free dye.
Avatar f tn They recommend not dying your hair until you are out of the first trimester. Make sure you use ammonia free dye (I think all dyes are ammonia free now) and make sure you are in a well ventilated area.
Avatar m tn Yesterday I applied silver nitrate to some tiny bumps on the base of the shaft of my penis- my best guess as to what they are is either genital warts or hair follicles that were bigger than my liking so I decided to chemically burn them off with silver nitrate. I applied silver nitrate and put the sticky part of a bandaid over it and left it for 24 hrs, when removed the top layer skin shed and the bumps are still present though now smaller and raw.
Avatar f tn i was at the doctors and I was watching a talk show and I was about dying my hair, they said, Although fairly limited, most research indicates the chemicals found in both semi-permanent and permanent dyes are not highly toxic and are safe to use during pregnancy. In addition, only small amounts of hair dye may be absorbed by the skin, leaving little that would be able to reach the fetus. What do you all think?
Avatar f tn I did it during my pregnancy I think your fine they said it was bad if there was ammonia in it but they don't use ammonia is hair dye anymore
Avatar f tn Could the potassium nitrate in toothpaste for sensitive teeth be enough to cause palpitations? I have used it for quite a while and ran out about a month ago. When I bought toothpaste got regular by mistake and used the whole tube. During this time my palps were the best they have been in a LONG time. Hardly even noticed anything. Ran out of toothpaste, bought the sensitive stuff and after about a week I'm flipping and flopping all over the place again.
Avatar f tn Have any of you mommies had to have silver nitrate put onto the remainder of your baby's umbilical cord stump? And if so how long did it take to fall off?
Avatar n tn The name Peru saltpetre or Chile saltpetre (American Peru saltpeter or Chile saltpeter) refers not to potassium nitrate but to a similar chemical sodium nitrate. Major uses of potassium nitrate are in fertilizers, rocket propellants and fireworks; it is one of the constituents of gunpowder.
Avatar n tn It should be fine, they haven't found anything in research thAt links dying hair and harm to the baby. Like above check with your doctor, and I would also tell the person doing your hair if you aren't doing it yourself. If you do it yourself you'll want to do a test spot to make sure your hair is still reacting the same.
Avatar f tn I haven't dyed my hair throughout this whole pregnancy & I figured I needed a new look at 34 weeks pregnant. Is it safe to dye your hair as long as it's ammonia free?
Avatar m tn research, research, research- look up the treatments: Lactulose vs. Xifaxan to decrease the ammonia. And beta blockers vs. banding for the varices which I presume are esophageal. You will get variations of experiences here which are therapeutic relative to your anxiety and directive relative to the facts But go to your Hepatologist with these anxieties because you can manage the effects of cirrhosis. My best.
Avatar f tn t be touching roots cause its already dark brown. ima be using the box with no ammonia cause my salonist said it was the best for me even tho the hair dye would only last 2 wks.
Avatar m tn I'm 31 and finally had orgasms (cervical ones) after having kids a couple years ago. Not to brag, it was really simple to have them once I figured out exactly what to do shortly after my second kid - I'm assuming a physical change down there from labor exposed the right parts. I was having bleeding after sex and the Dr. fixed my "friable cervix" with silver nitrate a few months ago.
Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?
Avatar n tn We discovered that my husband had an episode of Encephalopathy, which is high ammonia in the blood. But by the time we had his blood checked his levels were right smack in the middle of the range. Doctor said he was fine. So my question is can this ammonia gone untreated continue to rise and lower on its own. Because he has days that he seems fine and then days when he is not with me completely. He does not eat much as his taste buds are totally out of wack. Most foods taste very salty.
Avatar f tn I recently found out I had high ammonia, it was 66, I am taking lactalose and it is is now normal. All my blood work is within normal ranges on my liver function test and I also had a sonogram, have a mild fatty liver. Was wondering what could have caused this. I do drink a few beers a night.
