Ammonia in laundry

Common Questions and Answers about Ammonia in laundry

Avatar n tn He has had high ammonia levels as high as 420. He has been in the ICU because of this. He also takes lactulose to keep the ammonia levels down. My question is....he smells. It is the ammonia leaching from his body. We recently changed deodorants because they were turning his underarms black. Is there anything we can do to help decrease the smell? Natural laundry soap for clothing and bedding? Please help, we love him very much, but the smell is just horrible.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I joined this forum last week because my husband has HepC with severe cirrohsis. Since November he has been slightly altered. Only in his case it was a pleasant personality change - cleaning the house, doing laundry - he even offered to iron my clothes for me for work...not my husband's true nature (lol) Then his uncle died suddenly - from liver failure and he went out and got rippin drunk. So since then he has a lot of gastric trouble.
Avatar f tn I have not heard about the ammonia in the washing machine, but I'm positive they mean to use it in a wash cycle entirely alone, probably with hot water, prior to washing any clothes. Like a disinfectant. I started packing my bag at 32 weeks. I'm not quite finished but you can start any time you'd like.
Avatar n tn I don't have allergies of any kind and I'm in excellent health and I can learn to live with the smell of fresh baked bread in my nostrils.. I mean it could be owrse.. still I think I should get someone to check this out especially as I read about Phantom smells being a possible side efect of brain tumors...
Avatar m tn If he doesn't have an IV inserted in his arm while he's in the emergency room, they may insert the IV in his neck if he is admitted into the hospital. His ammonia level is back down but he's still loopy. Larry's hospital doctor said that if Larry is a candidate for liver transplant to work aggressively at getting him on the transplant list, and that we should discuss hospice care. Larry failed his first evaluation to get on the list and his next evaluation is months away.
Avatar f tn I have been using bleach to wash my clothes in the past few months and ever since been feeling fatigue. anyone here allergic to laundry detergent or bleach? thank in advance.
Avatar f tn I've used them before with siblings, they do save money, but you have to wash them all the time, unless you want the smell of ammonia all in your laundry room. And you have to rinse the poop out by hand. They are also quite bulky. I recommend the ones that you don't need to use safety pins for.
Avatar n tn I opened my doors through away my fabreeze plug in and fabreeze spray. I gave laundry detergent away to my neighbor because all of the following felt like an enemy to my senses. I later that night got a headache on my left side, frontal, that radiated behind my left eye. I am not a migraine regular. I did feel light sensitivity. Has anyone ever experience this. In the past, I have had false smells of ammonia or bleach like these chemicals were under my nose, but weren't actually there.
Avatar n tn The logical answer would be that the kidneys are dumping nitrogen (ammonia is NH3) in an effort to buffer the increased lactic acid production or because the body is breaking down protein, which also has nitrogen as a base. In my experience it should go away as your body adjusts to training. Eating more carbs may or may not be a solution. Decreasing the intensity of your workout a little may also be a solution.
Avatar n tn Lots of dust and mold. Mold is a very big problem. Especially in moist bathrooms. Stay away from wet laundry and paint solvents. And, sadly to say kittens and fur bearing animals. Goldfish are O.K. A tiny exposure of mold can cause a suceptible person to wheeze all day long. So keep your bathroom well aired and if you have mold have mom or dad clean it up. Don't do this yourself.. The best way is to spray a solution of chlorix bleach, perhaps 5 percent. But this is VERY toxic.
598816 tn?1219546166 I guess I have adverse reactions to ammonia products and pretty much any household cleaner with chemicals in it. Toxic mold can also create problems. My sister had recurring bronchitis and ear infections, as well did her 2 kids, several years ago when she rented a house that had a mold issue in their basement (they got out of it and immeddiately stopped having colds, infections, etc.). Another thing that I have heard that can cause problems is high CO (carbon monoxide) levels.
11446880 tn?1442931320 A basic pail with liner is all you need so can grab liner on laundry day and toss it all in the wash. Dry basket is recommended if doing laundry every 2-3 days. If doing laundry everyday you can do a wet pail, but I don't recommend this because it wears on the diapers more. If breastfeed most stuff will be liquid till start feeding solids. We have a sprayer connected to toilet to deal with poop. I have lots of notes from my class, email me if looking for additional details.
4333925 tn?1359106042 It is solid when cooler than room temp, but once it is in your hand it melts to an oil. My skin just drinks it in. I am kind of an old lady but I think it has kept my skin pretty supple and happy. :) It is also less expensive than a lot of lotions.
Avatar m tn In January I had sex with a girl that I later heard got around. The next morning I had 3 red bumps come up close to my waste line where my underwear was. The bumps were gone shortly. I began to freak out because the condom broke and all I could think about was STDs. I was big into working out and my back was hurting so I put on a metal type band that was supposed to make your joints feel better. I masturbated with it on one night and saw blood in my semen. I really freaked out then.
Avatar f tn Cats tend to jump in the crib when the baby arrives and sometimes smother the child. They smell milk on the baby's breath And try to put their face in the baby's mouth. I would not advise having a cat around a baby.... Plus you should not be changing any litter or even smelling it due to the ammonia. Not good for unborn baby...
3060903 tn?1398568723 Once removed, throw in the laundry machine with the rest of your clothes as usual. 2/3 cup ammonia; 2/3 cup dish detergent; 2 cups warm water; 6 tbsp baking soda; spray bottle. Mix shake spray add clothes to regular laundry. 15. Homemade Makeup Remover Just 3 ingredients! Tear-free baby shampoo, almond oil, and filtered water. Any skin-safe oil would do the job (coconut oil, olive oil, etc.), but almond oil is full of vitamin A, B and E, and isn’t as greasy feeling as other oils.
147426 tn?1317269232 But, then I heard a cat growl and decided my presence was needed. I stood up too fast and got my feet entangled in the sheet and blanket in front of my recliner. As I tried to extricate my feet I stumbled and kicked over a squirt bottle of Windex, which gave me an idea. This was just as I saw the throw rug at my door start to disappear through the door. I was being raided. By this time I was annoyed and still sleepy.
3060903 tn?1398568723 Ecowatch mentions Uzbekistan, the sixth leading producer of cotton, where irrigation for cotton plantations have led to the depletion of water in the Aral Sea and the subsequent failure of fisheries in the area. In a mere 50 years, the water level in the Aral Sea has diminished to where it is now less than 10 percent of its former level.
Avatar f tn Before I was diagnosed with HepC in 2001, I was much healthier than I'am now. I'm always telling my doctors that I never had the weight and the health issues until post interferon...I was recently diagnosed (July 2014) with Hepatic Encephalopathy due to my elevated ammonia levels and evelated AFP...Cirrhosis was suspected.
2203249 tn?1338994046 and is worrying that it said in his pegasys booklet that your not suppose to color your hair. Is this due to it falling out possibly or does it actually affect the treatment itself?
2022046 tn?1334498234 Yeah, I thought it seemed high. I just read it in a baby magazine I got in the mail. I don't know if they add in wipes, ointment or what. I figured it would cost $1200 at most a year. Maybe they wrote it wrong and meant to put by the time they are potty trained? Let's hope!
1057060 tn?1266516726 i had to really smell it to try to detect kinda smelled like pee but my underwear mostly just smelled like laundry detergent so i couldn't tell really. also my vagina was wet...not sperm cause i know what that would be like. the fluid was wet and odorless and slightly i leaking fluid or what? im 22 weeks and i dont wanna call after hours unless i have to.
Avatar m tn You're pretty young for a serious liver fibrosis/cirrhosis problem, but alcoholic hepatitis can cause your liver to get fatty, swell and stop working well. Your liver filters ammonia and other toxins absorbed in your GI tract from your blood before it goes into general circulation.
Avatar f tn Getting out is important because I know that this is good for me. I start out later in the day as I sleep late in the morning... So tired. I try to keep up with things around the house, but find that some projects I dread and everything is an effort. When I complete a project, I am happy, but it takes me longer to get done what was once so easy to do. I sure would appreciate feedback from others who have experienced this side effect. Thank you very much. love your support.
Avatar f tn i put too many quarters in one dryer and not enough in the other. so i figured i would just put the laundry from the one into the other if it wasnt completely dry. well i woke in the middle of the night dreaming that i forgot to get the laundry out of the dryer with the extra time on it. i didnt bother putting my glasses on, just ran like crazy to the laundry room. sure enough there was laundry sitting in the dryer. i grabbed it up and took it to the apartment.
Avatar f tn I'm not that far along & my last 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriages so I can (kinda) understand my husbands lack of excitement right now over this pregnancy. BUT.....he NEVER once has asked how I'm feeling. Not once. doesn't ask if want or need anything. Doesn't offer to DO anything, like cook, dishes, laundry, vacuum, ANYTHING. Because of the miscarriages he knows I need to take it easy but he doesn't step up to do a damn thing.
1711722 tn?1356491154 Day 35 -- Seems to be tougher, mentally, to take all the pills now that VIC has been added. Up until now, I have been sticking to my schedule. But have also gained weight from overeating, so maybe that's why it's a bit more of a struggle to take pills on time, because I know -- even if it's small -- I have to eat again. Thankfully, I am on VIC, but still have to eat to keep that and the RIBA from making me too nauseous. Gotta take the time to "plan" out my meals better.
483733 tn?1326802046 Otherwise he uses the dining room as his changing room, leaves dirty kleenexes everywhere (living room and bedroom), leaves chewed chewing tobacco on the side tables in the living room and bedroom, misses the toilet regularly and doesn't clean up his mouthwash, chewing tobacco and toothpaste (uses too much) in the sink. I am guilty of leaving piles of books/papers and not picking them up as I should. I do all the shopping - he never wants for anything and I pay all the bills.
1986676 tn?1329866071 Has anyone experienced a change in their sense of smell while on tx. There is a room in my house that I can't enter without being offended by the smell of the room. My eyes dry and throat burns. Also, I think my skin smells funny no matter how much I wash. I've tried washing in baking soda to try to get rid of the smell. Additionally, when I wash clothes the clothes smell funny to me. Could this be my imagination or what?
