2117757 tn?1335965278 Just curious but is it safe to swim at the lake while preggo? I know water parks or pools have the chlorine in them & it kills the germs but lakes are dirty water with a bunch if germs. I've gone to the lake every summer for as long as I can remember & am already sad cause I dunno if I'll be able to stand the crazy Oklahoma heat.

Avatar f tn This weekend went to the beach. As we were all in the water I noticed a bloody tampon in the water next to us. I had two small children in the water with us so we of course moved away. I am kind of edgy on if I should be worried about this. Could there be anyway they could be infected if this person was HIV positive? Please help!
Avatar f tn This early in the pregnancy it shouldn't be a problem
Avatar f tn Lake swimming cleared the black (removed the remnants of bruising) and was able to squeeze out lake water through hole in nail. I know this lake is not the cleanest. Last night soaked toe in <2% Hydrogen Peroxide for 35 minutes to prevent infection, pressed out any accumulated liquid with towel. Just looking for confirmation of correct preventative action.

9121436 tn?1407979502 I have looked up stuff online and found contradictions. There was nothing about it in my school books. I figure it's safe but am I only the only one who swims in a lake. I went to the local beach the other day. The levels where good, so meaning bacterial levels were low. My idea is its safe? I know swimming is safe and I know we had a blast!
Avatar n tn Urine is high in nitrates, compounds high in nitrogen and oxygen. Ammonia is made up of nitrogen and hydrogen. (NH3) What you are smelling is the high concentration of bonded nitrogen. Normally, diluted urine doesn't have much odor. If you're dehydrated and your urine becomes highly concentrated, it can have a strong ammonia smell.
Avatar n tn Depending on where you live, your town's water supply may use a lot of ammonia or bleach to purify it. In my town, they use so much you can smell it right out of the tap. When you intake this, it is filtered out through the kidneys and down the urinary tract during urination, but your body will find other ways of getting it out too, like sweating or during ejaculation. Drinking bottled water should prevent this, if that's the case with your husband.
Avatar f tn I really think swimming will really help me at this point I'm 33 weeks and I'm sore and restless. ... However I'll I have is the lake I love on its it safe at this point to swim in Lake water?
Avatar n tn Hi there. Ammonia levels are correlated with a person's liver status, and bacterial load of the colon and bowels. Patients with liver disease are unable to process or detoxify ammonia so that ammonia levels can reach dangerously high levels. This is coupled by increased ammonia production of colonic bacteria, especially if one is constipated or has an irregular bowel movement. High protein intake can also lead to an incresed ammonia production.
7988724 tn?1400967191 I went swimming with my first pregnancy I spent every day at the lake swimming. I would lay in the water on an air mattress with my tummy down in the water it was so comfy I was so big and it was very hot. My ob never told me to avoid it. She says water is great for you to be in. Unless the lake your going to is known for some nasty bacteria then I don't see you couldn't swim.
Avatar f tn If the liver is decompromised it cannot metabolize the waste products hence there is an elevation of blood ammonia levels resulting in increased excretion in the urine. Also, increased levels of ammonia may also be seen with gastrointestinal bleeding, where the blood cells are haemolysed in the intestines, releasing protein. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
20518617 tn?1499814261 My first NS appointment is in a couple weeks but I've tried searching this question and can't get much info. I live on the lake so every summer we spend most of it on and in water, but this summer I've noticed I can't breath well with my chest under water.

1481758 tn?1287638643 It can be treated with diuretics-fluid pills, but the easiest way to lower the levels is to start drinking more water. The more water in, the more urine made, and the more ammonia excreted out-unless you have kidney issues. Recommended amount of water per day is 8- 8 ounces glasses. I Hope This Helps.
Avatar f tn s your water. If not, its discharge or pee. It should also be bigger than a round spot. It should be enough it could steadily fill a pad.
Avatar n tn If he was swimming in a lake or pond, he could also have gotten a rash from algae in the water. In Seattle there is a well-known skin condition from swimming in Green Lake called "Green Lake Itch." I'd run him to the pedi and see what's what.
1747881 tn?1546175878 s life vest came off shortly after he went into the water, and Piercy eventually jumped into the water but was unable to save Ellingson. His body was recovered the next day from the lake bottom. Piercy's actions on the day Ellingson died were reckless, Seay said. "I have reviewed boxes and boxes of reports and records in regard to Mr. Piercy's training and experience and everything that was done in the investigation," he said.
Avatar n tn I AM DIAGNOSED WITH END STAGE LIVER DISEASE AS A RESULT OF ALCOHOL ABUSE. THIS IS THE INFO I HAVE BEEN GIVEN CONCERNING AMMONIA LEVELS. NORMAL IS 80 AND UNDER. MY AMMONIA HAS BECOME ELEVATED AS HIGH AS 800. WHEN MY AMMONIA BECOMES ELEVATED, ENCEPHALOPATHY SETS IN. THIS CAUSES ME TO BECOME CONFUSED, DISORIENTED, AND UNSTEADY ON MY FEET.
