Avatar n tn Urine has ammonia in it. Ammonia mixed with bleach makes a VERY toxic gas.
Avatar n tn with the sweat and the use of bleach added together was given a strong smell of ammonia. I am not saying that is what it is. That was my experience...I would suggest that you get checked out. and if you don't have a UTI congrats. I just wanted to share my experience of the ammonia smell... Good Luck!!!!
Avatar n tn Hi, have you by any chance figured out what the problem was? I'm suffering of the same annoying bleach/ammonia smell in my nose. Reading about liver/kidney failure and brain tumors on google.. doesn't exactly help... Please tell me you figured it out.
1123156 tn?1338866969 my mom went premature a lil early and im YOUNG too young for this LOL. Do you think it's safe to use ammonia free hair dye such as clairol natural instincts??
4540912 tn?1379634047 I know it was a big no back in the day when perms were so harsh but our perm company has cleared it as well when I called the manufacturer.. But as I said thats only what I know and what my dr has told me so obviously all drs are different and each should listen to their own.
1391695 tn?1298143389 I colored my hair 1x during 13 week treatment, Not sure if it would have been better or worse. It was falling out plenty before, not much more after. Are their studies to show hair falls out more if colored? Or is it an assumption? I didn't do highlights, just covered my gray with brown.
Avatar m tn I don't know what happens if lye and bleach meet but I do know that ammonia and bleach can kill you, I forget what they make when they meet but it is a very toxic gas/vapor.
209987 tn?1451939065 You have to do some thing about this as soon as possible, as the ammonia in cat urine is bad for your lungs, plus nobody should have to live like that anyway, even cat lovers. You need to remove the problem animals from your house (whoever they may be), in whatever way is necessary. Making the kids cry isn't fun, but your problem is worse than that now. It's about HEALTH, for you and the kids.I have worked with and owned many animals, and I have learned a couple of things.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if you had any ideas as to what the cause might have been. I would appreciate any ideas. Thank you very much.
Avatar f tn I have heard of this and it isn't safe at all nor remotely accurate. Urine has ammonia in it and when ammonia and bleach mix it releases a very toxic gas, and almost always when urine hits bleach it will fiz or foam that's what creates the gas. I had a friend who tried this once in high school, (just for fun, she wasn't pregnant nor did she want to be) and she ended up in the hospital from the gas it created. Sorry didn't mean to scare you just stating the facts.
Avatar f tn Yes you bleach/dye your hair!!! Just when dying your hair make sure its ammonia free or what not! And for bleach I would you the powder && the volume liquid and mix it up to make my bleach that way!! But yeah you && ur baby will be fine ,thru my whole pregnancy I dyed my hair 3 times. && I got like 3/4 different colors in my hair lol! ;) && I'm now 36 weeks!!!
Avatar n tn This mold responds well to an application of ammonia. Don't use bleach. And NEVER EVER AMMONIA AND BLEACH TOGETHER! The resultant gas is POISONOUS! As in causing death. With the kids and pets out of the house, make it a point to have a spray bottle of ammonia handy. Open the windows. Walk into the room, take a deep breath (hold it). Spray an area three foot by three foot thoroughly. Run from the room and leave the house and do your errands. Visit your girlfriends.

9905230 tn?1409236395 Is it safe to dye your hair at 20 weeks?
Avatar f tn It honestly doesn't matter what color you dye your hair starting the second trimester on. It all depends on the fumes, especially in bleach and ammonia for blonde hair color. Open all the windows or be in a well ventilated area during the process. A weird side note, I had dyed my hair with blonde highlights the day before I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant and it was one of the most painful experiences I've ever had due to the sensitivity.
Avatar f tn I tryed an home made pregnancy test by pouring bleach into my urine and it started to fizzle really fast with a small amout of foam what does that mean ?
7649706 tn?1396018342 The chemicals don't affect baby's development. It's only the strong ammonia or bleach smell that can be bad for you and baby by you inhaling it. Wear a mask if bleaching. If not bleaching, get a hair color without ammonia. Simple.
144586 tn?1284669764 This is something to be checked on. Many aides are extremely careless regarding both bleach and ammonia. If bleach is mixed with ammonia a deadly gas develops. Many aides have problems with english and do not understand this. Aides and cleaning ladies should not be permitted to use either of these fluids without supervision in the room of an elderly debilitated immobile patient.
Avatar f tn They make a amonia free bleach made by chi that is what I use every 6 wks no problems and I'm not going to quit! I'm 30wk hopefully I will only have to do it one more time pregnant but I'm not scared to do it more! Just do n it in a ventilated area and u should be fine!
9310208 tn?1410862885 I use dishsoap on counters, vinegar water and dshsoap mixture on floors, water alone on mirrors, green or natural toilet bowl cleaner that has low odor, and antibacterial cleaning wipes that I wear gloves with in the bathroom that don't smell too strong. Vinegar on counter and cutting board when sanitizing. Vinegar and baking soda paste mixture in oven and let it sit before scrubbing. I never have used many chemicals to clean (except the bathroom). I felt it was still pretty sanitary.
Avatar f tn so im wondering if this feeling could either be a slight virus or getting a bit sick from the ammonia in the bleach stuff i used.
Avatar n tn From what I have heard, it is safe to do high lights/ low lights because they don't really come in contact with your scalp. Just make sure that where ever you choose to have it done, it is a very well ventilated area!
Avatar f tn I'd never wash lingerie in bleach or could also get a rash from those if you have sensitive skin.
Avatar f tn As long as it doesn't have ammonia it would be fine. Like bleach and perms. Hair dye now a days are ammonia free.
Avatar n tn bleach kills mold so put some in a spray bottle and spray before u leave for the day as u don't want to breath the bleach AND NEVER MIX BLEACH WITH AMMONIA as the gas can harm or kill u
Avatar f tn While there's no proof that the chemicals in hair bleach -- like peroxide or ammonia -- cause birth defects, miscarriages, or any other complications, there are also no reliable studies that prove that bleaching your body hair is totally safe. Since it's likely that these chemicals will be absorbed through the skin and can reach your baby, it's best to avoid using them -- especially in the first trimester, when much of your baby's crucial development is taking place.
