Common Questions and Answers about Ammonia bleach vinegar

ammonia

Avatar f tn Chlorine bleach, or sodium hypochlorite, is a lung and eye irritant. If mixed with ammonia or acid-based cleaners (including vinegar), chlorine bleach releases toxic chloramine gas. Short-term exposure to this gas may cause mild asthmatic symptoms or more serious respiratory problems. (Source: Washington Toxics Coalition) You could try the following remedies. To be on the safe side, don't mix chlorine bleach with anything -- or just avoid chlorine bleach altogether.
Avatar m tn I don't know what happens if lye and bleach meet but I do know that ammonia and bleach can kill you, I forget what they make when they meet but it is a very toxic gas/vapor.
9310208 tn?1410862885 I use dishsoap on counters, vinegar water and dshsoap mixture on floors, water alone on mirrors, green or natural toilet bowl cleaner that has low odor, and antibacterial cleaning wipes that I wear gloves with in the bathroom that don't smell too strong. Vinegar on counter and cutting board when sanitizing. Vinegar and baking soda paste mixture in oven and let it sit before scrubbing. I never have used many chemicals to clean (except the bathroom). I felt it was still pretty sanitary.
1855970 tn?1325827213 A dehumidifier may be necessary The way to kill it is to use ammonia in a spray bottle, rather than bleach. You have to do an area no larger than two by two foot at a time. When you are ready to leave the house, open the windows in the area of the mold, take a deep breath, hold it, go in and spray an area 2 ft. by 2 ft. Leave still holding your breath. Don't get any in your eyes. Never EVER use bleach and ammonia together. The two create poison gas.
1073863 tn?1256691990 they have products with an enzyme that will do this, the area that was pee'd on will need to be cleaned with this product. Bleach/vinegar/ammonia and such products as you may have already found out will NOT work. good luck.
338963 tn?1253664422 I know that there came a point in my pregnancy at the beginning and at the end that the very SMELL of ammonia or bleach made me vomit. So I just stopped cleaning and made my hubby do it!
598816 tn?1219546166 I found at Walgreens they sell some cleaner called Holy Cow. It's supposed to be organic and free of alcohol, ammonia, vinegar and VOC (whatever that is?) I am trying their glass cleaner and it works pretty well. I agree with mom888 about certain chemicals. I think in our family some of the fregrances aggravate some of us, either the smell, or causes headaches. Personally I'm not a fan of bleach.... I use it sometimes to sterilize pots, but the smell is strong...
Avatar f tn cats love bleach! Instead clean it with an enzyme spray. And plugging a Feliway in the sprayed area would also be a good idea!
Avatar n tn You just never know what is in the commercially made ones. I do use bleach but in a very reduced solution. Vinegar is also a great disinfectant and good for windows. Ammonia also is a no no with me....so no Windex for me. I could go on and on...please let me know if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help. I hope that your son's RAD gets under better control.
Avatar m tn Any area with mold/moisture spores/bacteria, you must neutralize the problem with Bleach, as it will kill all of these things. Once you have let the bleach work in ALL areas of the source, you then must wipe it all entirely, with an clean but not needed towel or rag, and throw it away without it droping anywhere! You may think you neutralized and removed all of the source, but if it is for hard to reach places, THINK TWICE!
3060903 tn?1398568723 Over time, even a pristine bathroom starts to look like a prison stall. Get your bathroom back to normal with a good soak in vinegar. A 60/40 vinegar/water mix will break the scum right down! Skip the elbow grease and make your life easier next time you’re cleaning the microwave. Dip a sponge in a little vinegar and lemon juice and microwave for a minute. The insides will clean easy as a dream, and the sponge will be rid of bacteria! Rubbing alcohol is great for scrapes and cuts.
Avatar n tn Any dark coloured panties soon get a patch similiar to a bleach stain on them. The odour usually smells like ammonia and not only is it on me but on my clothing. Over the years I have been tested for everything imaginable but all tests always come back negative. I have always thought i was weird as none of my friends seem to have this problem. Yes I have been overweight for a large part of this time so sweating makes sense but NOT all of this time.
3060903 tn?1398568723 All-purpose or glass cleaner can be used in a pinch, but it's important to avoid ammonia, bleach, or abrasive cleaners on stainless steel. Abrasive sponges should also be avoided; all of these can alter the sink's finish. Thoroughly rinse out your sink. If you have a stainless sink, salt and acid in food can potentially damage the finish, so it's important to rinse food and liquids to prevent pitting. Sprinkle baking soda onto the surface. Working it into a paste, rinse thoroughly.
1548538 tn?1293875433 I'm not going to give up as the vinegar is the only treatment I found with quick results, plus it's vinegar. Does get any cheaper or available. Anyways, this is still a work in progress but wanted to share my experience this far for anyone wanted to try it out. I have been sooo tempted to shave my head completely and slough off my scalp with a black towel just to get a visual on what's going on under my hair but my husband would most likely object.
541196 tn?1293556536 Bleach mostly, I did consider the vinegar thing though as well! This morning I had a big pile of poo on the stove!!!! Mostly the problem is on the counter top or in the dog bowl... also on occassion in the office which is wood floors. The other locations are typically when like an item of clothing is left on the bathroom floor or something similar.
Avatar m tn Black Mold Precautions If you do opt to go the conventional route and use bleach to clean up black mold, never mix bleach with ammonia or any other household cleaning product. Doing so can cause extremely dangerous and even fatal fumes. (12) Always wear protective gloves and eye wear when cleaning mold. Make sure you cover the skin of your arms as well as your hands. You should also wear a respirator or mask designed for work with mold spores.

1356964 tn?1302091035 Swheat costs $27.99 for a 50 lb bag, World's best $38.99 for a 34 lb bag. SWheat is cheaper and in my opinion, a lot less dustier than the last three bags of WB cat litter that I bought over a year ago before I decided to switch. Perhaps I got a bad batch, who knows....
Avatar n tn When I have fungal balls in my nose I can smell ammonia, garbage, or this weird hard to explain smell. Its like a waxy perfumey smell. But, they wash out and after a day, it goes away for a while. Also, probiotics, which antibiotics kill, are important to take on a regular basis. Do some fungal sinusitis research on the web, and good luck finding a doctor to listen to you. You can go to Sinucare (www.sinuspray.
209987 tn?1451939065 this has to be used to removed the scent, if just vinegar or bleach is used it will only mask the odor from our noses...NOT theirs!!! and if cats can still smell urine they will think its okay to pee in that spot. males fed dry food will have a high urinary PH that causes struvite crystals this causes an irritation in their urethra so they have the urge to pee often and will do so in many spots other than their litter....trying to tell you it hurts.
Avatar n tn No one will believe my sister and she has cut her hair VERY short. Tried mayonaise, bleach, hair color, vasoline, vinegar, almost everything she can think of. I am so pleased to see that she is not the only one who has this she feels as if she is. She now has big bald spots on her head. We have been searching for help. She has been turned away from emergency rooms, hair stylists, specialists, dermatalogists, she cant take another dr telling her to go home she is crazy.
472570 tn?1274689487 The best thing I've found for laundry is biokleen detergent and biokleen bleach with vinegar in rinse cycle. It's not perfect, but close. Check your clothes in dryer by turning off lights and shining flashlight inside. If you see floaties and "dust" your detergent isn't working. I use hot water and use the add water button on my front loader. You need lots of water in the wash. These things aren't gone because the infest everything.
Avatar m tn Hammer) does work to get these things under control...for most part! In laundry, bleach/borax/ammonia works the best! I think Long dryer cycles is what kills them, not hot water...although, I do let wash SOAK atleast couple hours-overnight! What do you use?? What works for you? I froze my bed over winter bc it was worst in the bed! I brought it in and laid on it within 5mins I swear crawling&covered w/these things again&again! Wth cud survive a deep freeze for 3+months in freaken WI????
Avatar n tn 100mg of Chlorophyll dietary supplements Yogurt Summer's Eve? Vinegar washing? My question about the vinegar is, doesn't it just make everything smell like vinegar? I'm not sure I want to try that. I need some advice!!!
192055 tn?1263559137 Now I feel better but have to someday get treatment for this. Really, what has helped is constant Epsoms baths...and tea, and vinegar teaspoons with the mother. Hopefully when I stop the antibiotics it will cease, but I am definitely going to check the spinal fluid theory.
Avatar m tn / In addition to vacuuming I've been spraying vinegar all over everything and wiping all surfaces and mopping with ammonia. These liquids kill the bugs, but not sure about the eggs. Does anyone know? I'm terrified of my stuff getting infested. I did notice that the droppings are just outside the door to the balcony, and wonder if these pests came/come in from the trees outside. Looking for diatomaceous earth now.
Avatar f tn 3- wash your hands as much as possible, eggs on your hands are not persistent but make sure to use an antibacterial soap, 4- use disinfectent for cleaning the bathroom, but do not inhale while doing so, those products are extremely dangerous, 5- bathe twice a day (especially in the morning) or at least swipe your bottom with vinegar in the mornings (or a mixture of mashed garlic and vaseline at night so that the females can't go out and lay eggs), 6- keep fingernails as short as possible,
Avatar f tn it doesn't bother me except when i am around perfumes, especially heavy, musky, spicy perfumes and then my sinuses burn as if i had inhaled ammonia. i have alos noticed when this happens i start to get hives on my forearms. i only took the med for a week. my allergist has not been a help so i am going to an ent next week. the worse of it is the burning, i can deal with headaches and pressure but the burning is driving me mad.
