ammonia

1475202 tn?1536270977 Also a couple of days ago due to my ammonia level being high (68) I took a zinc sulfate 220mg prescibed by my specialist to help with the ammonia. In less than a hour I was experiencing the worst pain I ever had. It was in my entire abdominal area and all the way across my lower back. Finally I tried a warm bath and it took the pain away. My specialist even called in some pain pills for me called Dicyclomine 20mg. which also helped relieve the pain.
Avatar n tn You might be able to eat seaweed, were it pure seaweed, but there would be no way to be sure that the seaweed had not been contaminated by shellfish allergens. The iodine has nothing to do with the allergic reaction to fish and shellfish, so you are safe to eat iodized salt. Be aware, however that allergy to iodide is not rare, although unrelated to the seafood allergy.
Avatar n tn can also be attributed (in some cases) to zinc deficiency...and that they are starting to give zinc supplemenation, in addition to lactulose. Interesting stuff. Funny thing is that he told me I should transfer on over to the liver transplant center. Anyway, best of luck to you, bro. Hope this helps. If nothing else, it is something to discuss with your doctor. Maybe you should consider seeing a hepatologist...just a thought.
1469458 tn?1287320290 My infant son had surgery where they used iodine. He had a very strong reaction to it causing him to swell and have red blotches all over his body. He also acted like his throat hurt. The ER doctor told me that he is allergic to the iodine and that he should avoid shellfish. But recently I have read that is a myth. What could I do to see if this shellfish allergy is also linked to his obvious iodine allergy?

Avatar f tn I have been taking potassium iodide drops (15 drops, twice a day) for about 2 months, and am wondering if this by any chance could've caused the abnormal size of my thyroid. In that case, can I wait a few months after I'm off of the medication to do a second ultrasound if necessary? Getting blood tests for me is a huge ordeal (I tend to faint), so I'm wondering if I can wait a bit until I'm off of the meds and see if it's really necessary... Thanks!
Avatar n tn Remove your shoes outside of your door to prevent tracking it through the house, and thoroughly wash pet and child feet and legs in uncontaminated water. I hope this helps!
776302 tn?1241091853 I informed my doctor because I take levothyroxin for my thyroid and she will check my TSH more often because of the iodide and tyrosine. They seem to speed up the thyroid. I hope to lose 10 lbs by the time I go on vacation for 10 days the middle of May. Will stay away from starches when I go on vacation. I read somewhere that you need to take iodine, iodide and selenium together for the iodine to work....Will keep you posted on how the pill is working.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome. I've had several I123 uptake scans done and have had no allergic reactions to the iodine. I seem to have become allergic to quite a number of drugs (potassium iodide included, which they use if you are ungoing thyroid surgery), but never a reaction to I123. The scan will take approximately 45 mins to an hour (sometimes longer); you just have to make sure you stay still. I took the I123 the day before and went back 24 hours later for the scan.
Avatar f tn All thyroid meds are made of iodide or iodine (I can't remember which) and are converted into iodine. That's what the T4 and T3 mean, it's how much iodide/iodine are in them.
Avatar f tn I am undergoing LID for RAI treatment. I am confused with the salt issue. Is a salt that says " This salt does not provide IODIDE a necessary nutrient" a IODINE free salt or Iodine and Iodide are two different things? Should I consumed the one that says the statement I posted before?
Avatar f tn [10,11,14,15] But zinc should not be supplemented without the guidance of a nutritionist or physician, because a balance needs to be maintained between zinc and copper. People in the autistic spectrum tend to be low in zinc and high in copper. But if one is not autistic, supplementing zinc without copper can create a copper deficiency, and create unintended side effects. [16,17]" Of course there are lots of other possible contributors.
Avatar n tn salt is now on the grocery shelves and is not the same - or intended to do what it was years ago. The salt now comes from a depletion of potassium iodide and the bleaching componenets like floride and others is not the pure intent as it was. Regular table salt is not what is classified as Iodine anymore. You can find many pure forms of iodide/iodine but I really think you need to find a doctor suitable for this therapy.
798555 tn?1292787551 Potassium Iodide is stocked by governments and arm forces world wide in case of nuclear fallout, as radiation cannot displace potassium iodide in the thyroid gland, and the thyroid is the first gland to die from radiation. One Baltic State disbursed this to people (if they cared) after Chernobyl and it worked.
Avatar f tn For me my patm start when I was around 15 Going through puberty, I had been on anti depressions at the time. I started to notice people say the class smelt bad, the bad smell from me lasted for about 5 months. Once that was over and countless trips to my doctor and therapist which both said I was fine the smell finally ended. I then started to notice people begin to sniff, couf and rub there noses alot and I knew it was me.And had lasted for mouths and still going strong.
Avatar f tn It means the ammonia in your urine mixed with the bleach and caused a chemical reaction. I'm sorry, but it's not an accurate way to test for pregnancy.
Avatar m tn ) i recently went looking online for relief and found a product that is highly recommended by users, even those who take levo, and it does contain 225 mcg of potassium iodide. it also has selenium, folic acid, zinc, b-6, b-12 and copper; ashwagandha, guggul gum and tyrosine. should i really not take this?? with all the good (supposed) stuff in there, will the iodine hurt me, or be p*ssed away? i've been so confused about iodine for 17 years and i'm tired of being tired.
Avatar f tn I've suffered from breathless ness pretty well all my life. Is idefinitely connected with streaa reaction and neeeding to escape. That's why it's so uncomfortable- not just puffed out a bit etc. It's a sort of subtle drowning sensation that pervades every monent of the the day lurking in the backyard waiting to pounce. Is that it?
Avatar f tn I have had copd for a while now and dealing with as best I can but the last lung function I had the doctor said I now have severe asthma too and it's a progression of the copd. Has anyone else had this happen?
Avatar n tn My friend says that her thyroid was "burned out" years ago and she has to taky Synthroid daily. Her doctor recently checked her Potassium and it was low. He requested a recheck a month later, which she did not do. Now she has purchased Potassium Iodide 32.5 mg. She plans to take this 1 tablet for 10 days and stop. She says that by 10 days she will have an appointment with her new doctor. I'm concerned her self medicating may cause her harm? Is this a possibility?
