We have all heard the smell of ammonia. The smell of urine in the toilet is the smell of ammonia. Therefore, the urine odor of PATM patients is produced by Proteus. In addition, proteus produces indole and hydrogen sulfide in our intestines. Indole is another name for faecal odor.
Avatar f tn I agree with annajolly. We had two cats and got rid of them due to the ammonia smell and didn't want to even take the chance of the cat jumping into the crib and smothering the baby. Especially if they sleep with u they will think they can sleep in the babies crib too. It was easier for me to get rid of my cats cause I'm more a dog person anyway. Hope you work it out safely for your babies sake.

So my question is can this ammonia gone untreated continue to rise and lower on its own. Because he has days that he seems fine and then days when he is not with me completely. He does not eat much as his taste buds are totally out of wack. Most foods taste very salty. And of course he does sleep alot.
Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?

Diabetics might notice that their urine smells sweet, because of excess sugar.

It can placed in hidden out of the way places, like under the refrigerator and in the crevices of your stuffed furniture (It can be just left inside of the crevices if the pets don't typically disturb the furniture and cause the stuff to puff up into the air.).

1475202 tn?1536270977 Which is why patients with overt HE are advised to avoid red meats which during digestion create a lot of ammonia. Other sources of serum ammonia are the kidneys and skeletal muscle. Normally, ammonia is metabolized by the liver. When the liver function is impaired, shunting of blood around the liver, and increased muscle wasting all lead to increased serum ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients. Avatar f tn When the liver is struggling it can’t convert protein properly and it ends up as ammonia that passes out into the blood stream and makes our body toxic. Ammonia is an irritant that causes dry throats, coughing, sneezing etc. This theory ties up with people who have stopped eating protein and moved to a plant based diet, giving up alcohol which damages the liver, and more recently someone saying tamarind had helped them. Just a thought that this could be worth further investigation.
