203342 tn?1328737207 Does anyone on here know how to can? I took an introductory class on it, just to get the basics and am very intrigued. It does seem like a lot of work, time consuming, but they say it's healthier and much cheaper to can your own food. I'd love to learn more. Does anyone on here can? And if so, what? My mom said she's only tried a few things, like green beans and tomatoes. I know she's made pickles before.
Avatar f tn Well spring is almost upon us... almost! Anyway, we had a really warm day so I started clearing rocks out of the places where I want to garden. Oh my goodness! There are so many rocks and I have no clue what to do with them all? They're ugly, too (like cement, just a white-grey). Some are so large I have to roll them. So my first question is- what do you do with rocks from your yard? Second, HELP ME! I have no idea and no inkling of how to garden.

1008841 tn?1293598960 that is to say, some patients who have hepatic encephalopathy (HE, or confusion due to liver dysfunction) do not have elevated ammonia levels, and sometimes ammonia levels can be elevated without apparent HE -- docs usually use the guidelines Hector provided above to diagnose HE as opposed to just declaring it based on ammonia levels. Avatar n tn But by the time we had his blood checked his levels were right smack in the middle of the range. Doctor said he was fine. So my question is can this ammonia gone untreated continue to rise and lower on its own. Because he has days that he seems fine and then days when he is not with me completely. Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?

Avatar f tn I copied and pasted this info from WebMD. IUn used "urine and ammonia" in the search field. Within the article was a subsection dealing with smell. Here it is. I hope it helps: Odor Changes Urine normally doesn't have a very strong smell. If you get a whiff of something particularly pungent, you could have an infection or urinary stones, which can create an ammonia-like odor. Diabetics might notice that their urine smells sweet, because of excess sugar.

333672 tn?1273792789 I tried to plants some seeds in my vegetable garden the other weekend and it took me close to an hour to do ten feet. And I spent more time sitting down and resting and trying to recover enough strength to stay upright long enough to do something than I spent actually working. Any ideas about how I can manage to do anything in the garden? I tried a short stool last summer, but it had the same sort of effect as the squatting and was hard to get up from.

1475202 tn?1536270977 Which is why patients with overt HE are advised to avoid red meats which during digestion create a lot of ammonia. Other sources of serum ammonia are the kidneys and skeletal muscle. Normally, ammonia is metabolized by the liver. When the liver function is impaired, shunting of blood around the liver, and increased muscle wasting all lead to increased serum ammonia levels in cirrhotic patients. But ammonia isn't the only toxin involved in HE.
