Avatar f tn Had a large tumor and total thyroidectomy removed 3 weeks ago. The past few days having dull but strong headaches that go into my ear, down my jaw into my neck. I'm taking 100 mcg of Levothyroxine a day and 2 Calcitrol a day. My calcium was very low after surgery.
1286779 tn?1400012806 I think Jaybay just gave you great advice. Lots of elderly have different side effects than the more common ones. Medications can easily interact and sometimes medications that have been fine for a long time all of a sudden aren't. A gerentologist probably is the best place to look for answers. When my mom was alive, we had a few kinks with her medications.
131114 tn?1380083190 Are there side effects? Any suggestions, tips, or info I can use to get her BP down. She would like to have surgery, but we won't do it with this going on. Thanks!
Avatar m tn My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s). I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.
Avatar m tn I doubt this combination would be approved if it was dangerous. But all drugs may have side effects, and if you get bothersome side effects, you should report them to your doctor. Good luck.
Avatar m tn (probably 4 years ago) taken 2 times daily, I have had three episodes of severe nausea with vomiting coming on suddenly. When I went to ER my bp was in the area of 190/105. Most recent episode in mid-March. Fine the next day except for mild tiredness. ER doctors have diagnosed as either an anxiety attack, or most recently, Vertigo. B.P. is brought back to normal ranges over a 2 or 3 hour period. Could this be related to the Metoprolol? I am somewhat sensitive to other medications.
Avatar n tn Most reports indicate that it is less likely to cause the nausea and other side effects that can result from extended use narcotic and NSAID pain killers. Since you cat has chronic pain (arthritis), it is probably a better choice for longer term, low dosage use. No drug is completely safe or without potential side effects. But given the particulars about your cat, tramadol seems to be a good choice with a good balance of effectiveness vs. side effects.
Avatar f tn The S- isomer of amlodipine or Asomex® is being studied in clinical trials and may lead to side effects such as fatigue or tiredness, dizziness or fainting, headache, flushing, or swelling of the legs or ankles. Side effects of amlodipine are generally mild and reversible. If the foot tingling and muscle twitching persists, it is best that you have this evaluated further by a neuroloigst to rule out possible neurological causes.
Avatar m tn Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar m tn Using Klonopin together with Elavil may add to dizziness, drowsiness, breathing problems, and other side effects ( in addition to the the individual numerous drug side effects). ---Source: Drug Interaction Checker Klonopin is in a class of drugs called Benzodiapezines. Benzodiapezines are contraindicated when suffering from depression, however, anxiety999, you would have to discuss it perhaps with the prescribing doctor.
Avatar m tn t make much sense unless you are having side effects. A risk of a larger dose vs. smaller dose may be the reason...less toxicity in the system.
20003202 tn?1488258062 Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Is there a cleaner medication with better results and less side effects. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am desperate....
Avatar n tn I have taken as much as 200 mg of Metoprolol to slow down a fast HR... but it gave me too many side effects. I now take 50 mg of Metoprolol and have added a Calcium Channel Blocker to help lower my HR. So, my treatment reason is different than yours, but I share for whatever value you may find in my "story".
Avatar m tn Im concerned about side effects from certain meds. that an elderly person was prescibed from a psychiatrist. If you maybe depressed and never took psychotropic drugs, can one side effect lead to screaming uncontrollably. Does your brain reject chemicals that the body doesn't understand.
Avatar f tn My mother currently taking nebivolol 5mg in morning and amlodipine/perindopril 5/8mg in evening for hypertension. Her blood pressure has recently been improved and taking both pills cause low blood pressure, she is also suffering from cough as a side effect from perindopril. I am considering to shift her to nebivolol only but 5 mg once a day is not controlling the blood pressure well. My question is can nebivolol be taken twice a day in 2.
15481674 tn?1440853541 How long have you been on Losartan? 100 mg is a large dosage and it, too, can cause dizziness and tiredness... I was on only 25 mg for some time and I had some of those symptoms, plus weight gain/inability to lose, symptoms of a cold, etc... I no longer take it and no longer have those symptoms. It can also react with some of the other medications...
Avatar f tn Since then I’ve read some very concerning info about the side effects on men as well as too many amlodipine toxicity. If my son were writing this I’m sure he would say that he would very much like everything to function properly as a young man of 27. What determines what type of blood pressure medication a patient is prescribed? Why does a doctor put a patient on a calcium channel blocker as opposed to a different class of BP medication?
Avatar m tn I started out with Dyazide - a Diuretic - for many years until my kidneys gave up. Then I was put on Metoprolol Succinate - a Betablocker - but I never had Arrhythmia, although some PVC's, and the side effects were too much for me. Next thing Amlodipine - Calcium channel blocker, again, couldn't take the side effects. Now it is Lisinopril/Hctz - ACE inhibitor with some Diuretic - for a about three years now.
Avatar f tn Your husband is on several meds for bp, so side-effects / interaction effects from those meds would probably be the first thing to consider. He should talk to his doctor about the symptom he has to rule out other causes and maybe consider a change in medications. Best of luck...
Avatar f tn The elderly generally take smaller doses because the liver metabolizes drugs more in the elderly. And any antidepressant can cause increased anxiety particularly in the beginning, but even later, as they can be stimulating.
