Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
Avatar m tn The doctor still saw the need to put me on another medication, so now im taking Benazepril and Amlodipine. And at times checking my BP myself it has been down to like 127/80. Im only 24 and thats what worries me. I have a family history of High Blood Pressue big time. My Grandad and Dad both had it. My Dads was so high, at the time they couldnt even maintain it. Im also overweight. During my first visit to the doc I weighed about 250 at 6 feet tall.
Avatar m tn I have a 3.5 year old yellow lab that was recently limping, so she was taken to the vet and they did blood work and the blood work suggested Kidney Failure. Her creatine level was 4.1 and BUN/UREA 64 mg/dl. She spent 2 days in the ER getting fluids and medication. She's on amlodipine Besylate, Maropitant, prednisolone, doxycycline. She has struggled to eat, been very tired and isn't herself at all. Its been 4 days since she came home from the ER and she's slowly gotten worse.

Avatar f tn I was disqualified from a job process due to this medical condition called left ventricular hypertrophy. I take benazepril & amlodipine besylate for high blood pressure, and for migraines atenolol. I didn't know they were also used for heart problems. Is this condition treatable or cureable?
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar m tn Blacking out and dizziness can be caused by a too low blood pressure or heart rate, or both. You say you are on BP medication, what is you resting BP? If it is real low, not likely given you normally have high BP, the medication may be too strong a dose or type. BP medication may also lower you pulse. I have had problems in the past adjusting to high dose beta blocker, e.g., 100 mg of Metoprolol twice a day. In the beginning by BP would go down in the range of 80/65, best I can recall.
Avatar n tn The forum does not suggest any medication nor recommend any medication for any cardiovascular disorders, etc. I believe your opinions are more in the pharmacological domain.
Avatar n tn I am 75. I take 75 mg of atenolol and 40 mg of benazepril hcl every day. I had an echo stress test (speed increases every two minutes) and at 6 minutes my blood pressure starting falling so the test was stopped and the doctor said sometimes with blood pressure medicine that happens. He said my heart was fine. I had a by-pass 12 years ago. So do I have to worry?
Avatar m tn Some references said that cilnidipine 10 mg is equivalent to amlodipine 5 mg tablet. Is there any article/journal regarding this dose??
Avatar m tn I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar f tn The Benazepril will lower blood pressure, so if your dog does not have high blood pressure - the medication could cause blood pressure to fall dangerously low. With cautious low-dosing and very regular blood pressure monitoring, it can be advantageous. However, if there isn't at least weekly checks on blood pressure, then it's a dangerous form of treatment for a dog that has normal blood pressure. All drugs, not just Benazepril, cause issues for the kidneys. Why?
Avatar n tn Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.

Avatar n tn My wife is taking high blood pressure medication, Amlodipine BESYLATE, and wants to get back to using St Johns Wort, which helped her depression tremendously. Is there ANY high blood pressure medication that'll work? Thank you for your time and help.
Avatar m tn I'm in the Philippines and have run out of my medicine for high blood pressure. I've been on Triamterene 37.5 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. I'm low on funds and don't have the money to buy more medicine. A friend of mine from China mailed me some Levamlodipine 2.5 mg and some Hydroclorithiazide 25 mg (maybe mispelled) tablets to take. Should I take two of the Levamlodipine tablets to make 5 mg?
Avatar m tn Won’t the sudden stop of using amlodipine and propranolol bring problems; I thought they would just reduce the medication cause this is what I ultimately want, reduction of these meds until I stop using completely?
Avatar m tn I was prescrbed metoprolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg. I have been taking this medine for a year. I have been regularly checking my BP ever since. It comes to 130/75mm/hg within a month. But Still I am taking the same dosage. My worry is : Is metoprolol and amlodipine safe to take?Since I am 38 only what would be its long term effects. That is taking the drug for over 30 years? Avatar f tn Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done. I'm wondering if this weakness is from MCTD or the amlodipine. I also wonder if the amlodipine can cause a positive u1- RNP, I've heard lupus test can become positive due to certain medications. Any thoughts on this?
