amlodipine and lisinopril

I was put on lisinopril and amlodipine. Ever since I started taking these medications my ocd has been totally out of control. There are rituals and image problems that I have never had before and it's really getting worse. Does anyone here have anxiety problems along with HBP and the medications have made them worse? Doctors don't believe me but I know my own mind and how different it is since I went on these medications.

Amlodipine and Lisinopril have different mechanisms of action... These medications are prescribed depending on the status of the patient(co-morbidities or other diseases)... For example, Beta-Blockers(a class/group of anti-hypertensives) is not given to a hypertensive patient with asthma since this may exacerbate/worsen the asthma... Better a consult your doctor...

I don't know -- I got back on my meds (lisinopril and amlodipine) because my nurse practitioner is insistent. But I don't like amlodipine because it swells up my legs and ankles. But at least my pressure is down a few points, still high, but I hate meds. However, I'm working on taking it every day. I have a label on the bottle that I write down the day I take it with a check mark next to it because -- I can take the pill out of the bottle and forget if I took it.

I have been working hard on my health and diet and just got clearance last week to stop taking the last of my meds. I took Lisinopril, Amlodipine, and Metoprolol. I was weaned off them all. I am now med free. Yay! Curious if anyone truly saw weight loss after stopping beta blockers.

Also, my lower legs are sore, I have dizziness and feel light-headed, and are extremely lethargic. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Is there a cleaner medication with better results and less side effects. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am desperate....

I have an intra-renal aneurism on my aorta (3.5 cm, they said) ... My blood pressure is well-controlled with Amlodipine and Lisinopril but I'm wondering to what extent sex increases blood pressure. I'm thinkin' any increase in blood pressure could hasten a rupture of the aneurism. Should I give up sex?

Was switched from lisinopril to amlodipine. Began Plavix. Was told that I had so many blockages/narrowings that additional surgical intervention would be fruitless. Had multiple brief blackout spells at 5 mg dosage. Reduced dosage to 2.5 mg, still having significant issues with light-headedness and angina. Reluctant to drive. I cannot tolerate beta blockers (metoprolol among others) due to similar problems with fainting and falling.

My list is Lisinopril 40 mg, Amlodipine 10 mg, Clonidine .1 mg, labetalol 300 mg. All once a day except for my Clonidine which is twice a day. They had me taking metropolol 25mg BID on top of the Lisinopril, but had to discontinue due to abdominal cramping, diarrea and major depressive mood swing, confusion and just a general feeling of being in a fog. Has body become so used to the Lisinopril that it's just not working any more? They want me to keep heart rate lower, but it's just not working!

My long time meds are for blood pressure... Amlodipine 5mg and lisinopril/HCTZ 20/25mg. Oh and lamotrigine 50 mg for the last two weeks. I was put on BP medication in January 2012. I started off with Amlodipine and Lisinopril and the Lisinopril darned near killed me. The prescribing doctor WOULD NOT take me off it so I just stopped taking it and made an appointment with another doctor. I have been taking 12.5 mg of Metoprolol and 10 mg Amlodipine for about 3 months. I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan.

Both Amlodopine (Norvasc) and verapamil belong to the same group- the calcium channel blockers (CCB) which are usually indicated for hypertension and migraine prevention. Amlodipine have very little effect on heart rate and contraction while Verapamil have the greatest effects on the heart and reduce the strength and rate of contraction. Since they have different actions, it is best that you discuss this first with your attending physician for proper management. Take care and best regards.

Im really worried about my husband he is 35 years old and he is on 4 different blood pressure meds. He is on Lisinopril 10mg , Atenolol 50mg, Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg and Amlodipine 10 mg. Even with all theese meds his blood pressure is still way to high! It seems every doctor visit they add more meds. Ok I guess my question is, is it nessasary to be on 4 different blood pressure meds and is it safe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To control my bloodpressure from going too high, I take amlodipine in the mornings, and lisinopril and metoprol going to bed. I try to keep my BP between 140 and 120 systolic, and between 70 and 80 diastolic. I am able to maintain these pressures at least 90% of the time. I do have excersions both above and below this range, and use Gatorade or extra amlodipine to bring it back. I am a Ph.D. physicist and feel I understand my dysautonomia & how to control it.

5 mg Lisinopril and 2 x 25mgs of Levothyroxine. At first I was put on 5mg Amlodipine for the HBP but my body couldnt tolerate it. I used to get awful pains in my chest and my vision was affected (Blurry vision, and floaters appeared in my right eye) I also felt as if I wasnt here (Light headed and when I walked I felt as if I was veering to one side) The same thing happened when the Doc doubled my dose of Lisinopril to 5mg all those symptons came back again.

s then it took off. Out of Control. I was on 20mg Lisinopril and 5mg Amlodipine. It was pretty devastating for me as I've always been in top athletic condition and all my lab results were picture perfect. You might want to start on a DASH diet or if you're feeling highly motivated as I was go Vegan and eliminate meat, dairy and oils. I was able to wean off my meds in 6 months and now maintain a BP around 115/65.

I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and take medication for that along with amlodipine besylate, 5 mg. anymore than that and my ankles swell up. I also take 12.5 mg atenolol and anymore than that and it causes palpitations. I also take Atacand 16 mg. and Clonidine, 0.1 mg. I don't know why my blood pressure can't be controlled either. It is frustrating to go to the doctor hoping to get some good numbers but I never do. As for your BP being 156/66, that is fantastic!
