Amitiza weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Amitiza weight loss

amitiza

Avatar f tn my symptoms are weight loss, severe constipation, headaches, bloating, gas, and loss of appetite. Ive had and endoscopy, colonoscopy, cat scan, xray, multiple blood tests, allergy tests, diabetes test, fructose intolerance test, and stomach motility/emptying test and the doctors haven't found anything except lactose intolerance. I tried an IBS diet but that did nothing to alleviate my symptoms (it might have even made the worse especially the bloating).
Avatar f tn Honey, I am very worried about your weight loss. 78lbs is getting into the danger range for a woman. The consequences can be fatal. Your DO who is trained to have a more holistic approach to the whole person should be all over this! You may need a central line and some parenteral help. Someone needs to be seeing you every few days and be checkeing your blood chems. Strongly request a referral to a dietician. The dietician should sound an alrm to your doctors.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi Candy, I really don't know how common it is but I also have IBS that just keeps getting worse... I only have bowel movements once maybe twice a month... I know it's hard to believe but it's the truth.. Also, I used to never have bloating and pain in between those movements... But, in the last few months my stomach stays distended, I cramp until I double over, and nothing seems to help... My doctor said it's a combination of the MS and the medication...
974371 tn?1424653129 Hi, the most reported common side effect of amitiza is diarrhea. It can also cause abdominal distension, nausea and abdominal pain. It can also cause fecal incontinence. Like your doctor suggested you can continue this medications for a few more days before you give up this medication. Regards.
Avatar n tn My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?
605458 tn?1539228808 My doctor just started me on Amitiza last week following a colonoscopy that was fine. I also have had 2 CT scans; one without contrast and the other with contIrast and nothing showed up there. I had and still have a pain in my right lower abdomen. This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach.
Avatar n tn My hands and feet are constantly cold, I have loss of appetite, and today I weight 196 pounds I have gained over 50 pounds in 4 months. Most of the weight appears to be in the thighs and abdominal area, I am also very irritable and depressed.I have shortness of breath when I get up and move around; which is not typical of me.I am sore a lot and get charlie horses in my calves in the evening time frequently.Could this be Thyroid/endocrine related? I follow a strict 1400-1600 calorie diet.
Avatar n tn Hello All. I'm really new on the panel and I'm searching for help. In the last two weeks I have not been able to have a BM. My doctor gave me some samples of amitiza 24 mcg. I've been taken them 2 per day for the last 4 days - One at night and another in the A.M. With the 1st tablet I had a BM. I have not had another BM since. It doesn't seem that I'm having any normal digestive sounds or movements. I don't even have the urge to have a BM.
Avatar n tn I have these bloated, distention, nausea, constipation (sometimes) for about 20 years. Colonoscopy and gastroenteroscopyn always show clear and fine. I was prescribed Amitiza 8 mg 2 years ago. There was a point that I felt ok for 3 months in a row recently. But unfortunately, it came back again. It really bothers my daily life and work. What should I do?
Avatar f tn My symptoms are abdominal pain that is usually under the left rib but sometimes under the right or just complete upper in general and sometimes it spreads to my lower stomach and back, weight loss, nausea, dizziness, constipation, pale stool, bloating, loss of appetite, and intolerance to cold. I am so desperate for an answer because i feel like the lexapro will not work. I have been taking it for almost a month now and at first i believed i was getting better but now Im back feeling miserable.
Avatar n tn It started without any warning and continues. Sitz marker abnormal as all markers were still present; no obstructions seen. Given amitiza; works well enough, but have heard others have much better success with it. Twice during the night I have had loss of bowel and bladder control and did not know it until I awoke the next morning. MRI's of lumbar and thoracic read as nothing of note. Where do I go from here? I want a diagnosis, not a bunch of pills thrown at me and a shoulder shrug.
Avatar m tn Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me. You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.
Avatar m tn Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
974371 tn?1424653129 None of these doctors can figure out what is wrong with me and I just continue to get worse daily and little appetite and losing weight. I have had many tests done.

1773179 tn?1314201148 I am always bloated and constipated and have gained weight out of nowhere and steadily gaining more. I eat healthy and exercise 3-4 days a week. I had a colonoscopy last year and the results were just internal hemeroids. I go to the bathroom 1-2 a week if im lucky and it is very painful and hard to manage. The doctors say that there is nothing wrong but there must be! I am always feeling nauseousness regardless of if and or what I eat.
Avatar n tn I have severe abdominal bloating/distention, rapid weight gain (put 25 pounds on in less than 2 weeks), stingy sensation up and down my lower legs (front) almost burning and my fingers tingle/feel swollen, fatigue (wake up tired, tired after eating, and sleep whenever not at work), waking up tired, muscle soreness, joint pain, nausea, and my stomach is warm to the touch and hurts.
Avatar n tn I started using treadmill to help lose weight and broke tibia due to osteoporosis. I still have 4 children at home, am 54 years old and sick, sick, sick of doctors and surgeries. I have crossover autoimmune diseases including fybromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, neuropathies and daily migraines. I am on Opana 15 mg. 2 x daily, Percocet 10-325 mg.
Avatar n tn I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.
2102085 tn?1350866645 I went to a gastroenterologist the next day and she thought it was IBS and prescribed me Amitiza and Bentyl. I have been on the Amitiza and it makes me have frequent watery BMs...and the Bentyl does not do much. The pain is constant and I feel like I'm pregnant I'm so bloated (I'm not!) could this really just be IBS? Could the pain be reproductive (i.e. ovarian cysts) I'm going to school for nursing and it is really interfering with my education...
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and found out I have a large duodenal ulcer with partial outlet obscrtuction. Can I take Amitiza with this ulcer?I was supposed to have a colonoscopy but I couldn't get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.
Avatar m tn fast weight loss is most of the time lost water and muscles. Fat takes ages to go away. Third: Think of a diet as something permanent. Crash diets just help you gain weight faster once they are over. So, pick some simple rules of a balanced and healthy diet, and follow them. Don't sweat it if you crave for something "bad", to a balanced diet belongs the bad side, too. If you give in now to a small piece of chocolate, it is much better than to eat two whole packages later.
Avatar f tn Yes please talk to your dr, there are many things that could cause rapid or excessive weight loss and some of them can be serious. In addition to Thyroid and GI testing maybe ask about diabetes. It seems odd, but it can cause weight loss.
