amitiza and weight

Hey, You're right, that Amitiza does not work. But, my friend I happen to have found something that does. I may be wrong but it seems like the medical doctors are only interested in my pockets. However, I talked to an herbal doctor and he suggest an all natural digestive assistant called ACOG Colon Cleanse. It is also called ACOG Herbal Master Body and Colon Cleanse. He recommends it to all of his IBS and constipation patiens.

I was sick in bed all day yesterday with upper and lower abdominal pain, bloating and nausea but not sure if it was from this med. I was also told to increase my Gabapentin up to 900 mg a day. I hate taking any of this stuff. Thus is from my Stanford doctor and I still don't think they are sure what I have. My GI doctor here suggested I see the surgeon again about my gallbladder as a HIDA scan showed a 19% ejection fraction.

Has anyone tried it and had it worked for you. Symptoms??

My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?

This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach. In it's place she put me on 3 Metamucil tablets each morning and 1 Colace, then 1 Colace at night. We are trying this for 2/3 weeks and then maybe ease back in to the Amitiza.

I have tried everything from high fiber diet, miralax, enemas, and I have been on Amitiza and Sentakot for three days and to no avail. I researched some on the internet and I am concerned that the gastrointestinal issues are from macrocyctic anemia (b-12 or pernicious anemia) from what I can figure from my symptons and blood work. What is the treatment for such? Whom would I see regarding this? What other methods will relieve the constipation? I am very miserable and feel awlful 24/7.

I have these bloated, distention, nausea, constipation (sometimes) for about 20 years. Colonoscopy and gastroenteroscopyn always show clear and fine. I was prescribed Amitiza 8 mg 2 years ago. There was a point that I felt ok for 3 months in a row recently. But unfortunately, it came back again. It really bothers my daily life and work. What should I do?

I went to a gastroenterologist the next day and she thought it was IBS and prescribed me Amitiza and Bentyl. I have been on the Amitiza and it makes me have frequent watery BMs...and the Bentyl does not do much. The pain is constant and I feel like I'm pregnant I'm so bloated (I'm not!) could this really just be IBS? Could the pain be reproductive (i.e. ovarian cysts) I'm going to school for nursing and it is really interfering with my education...

sometimes it feels like someone is squeezing my upper intestines and my rib feels like its popping in and out of place. my symptoms are weight loss, severe constipation, headaches, bloating, gas, and loss of appetite. Ive had and endoscopy, colonoscopy, cat scan, xray, multiple blood tests, allergy tests, diabetes test, fructose intolerance test, and stomach motility/emptying test and the doctors haven't found anything except lactose intolerance.

I feel chained to the bathroom and of course never clean. Zelnorm was the beat solution and worked really well but then was taken off the market. What can I do to resolve this ever increasing problem?

I have done the doxycycline and a few other therepies that my gastrointerologist recommended. They would work for a while and then would get worse agan. I am now taking Amitiza and am doing pretty good with it. Though I have now started noticing a correlation to my menstral cycle and the onset of these symptoms. A week before i start my period I will stop haveing BMs. Completely. I won't go again until I start. And then I usually have to induce it somehow.

Last summer I had intestinal surgery (a foot of small instestine removed) and it has just gotten worse over time.I eat very little and get bloated immediately. Have not gone to the bathroom on my own for 2 years. I went online and did not like the side effects of this medication or the reports written by real people. I am hoping that someone on here has taken it and can tell me what they think. I am mostly concerned about the side effects of chest pain and shortness of breath.

I ws diagnosed w/ IBS-C and given Amitiza. I was in the hospital again on Friday. I looked 7 months pregnant,severe soft tissue pitted edema in my right leg.My bp was 104/64, body temp 98.2, pulse 64.They did a doppler and found no DVT, did my blood work and said it was fine.Had a cat scan and all is well.Dr. suggested that going the metabolic/ednocrine route may be the way to go.I had my thyroid tested in the early part of February and my Dr. said it was ok.

Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.

I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.

I quit smoking two weeks ago and have been severely constipated. Doctor gave me a CT scan and amitiza. Now he wants a colonoscopy done. I'm miserable and I think its all smoking related. The doctor thinks theres no relation between quitting smoking and constipation. I think he needs to go back to med school.

I feel like the doctors here in Santa Cruz CA just keep passing the buck to another doctor and I just get the bill. I have had tons of blood work and all is ok there but i have gained weight since i am retaining all these bowels..yuk.... I am a 30 yr old female.

I eat no gluten, little other breads or brown food, no dairy, and very little sugar. I have lost weight, but I still have rumbling and bloating a minimum of 5 days a week. I am in the bathroom at least an hour a day for the "sludge stool" to move through all the twists and turns. I went to my OB/GYN and planned surgery for this month thinking that the pain (on my left hand side, right under my ribs) and by my ovaries, too could be the cysts but yesterday i hit bottom. I woke up and I felt a throbbing pain under my ribs. I ran to pee and it took me 45 minutes to poop scary black tarry stools.

I no longer have tachycardia attacks but continued to develop main all over, basically starting from the chest down to the back and head. Now, I have muscle fatigue and discomfort everywhere. My head hurts all the time and eating, anything, makes it worse. These symptoms have been going on for over 2 years and taking Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Topamax have not worked. I do not respond well to medications at all. Now, the muscle fatigue in my thighs have gotten worse.

Long and twisted colon that tends to slow passage of stool and cause constipation that can be quite severe. I take Miralax and Amitiza for mine. They work, but are expensive - especially the latter.

None of these doctors can figure out what is wrong with me and I just continue to get worse daily and little appetite and losing weight. I have had many tests done.
